Ah yes B*gpoint destroys the game with the CE. Players leave in droves and here we got with merger again.

For the hundredth time merging the servers will not work. I play Tegan because of the ping I get as do many other players play the server closest to them. You will not gain any players you will just drive more players away. B*gpoint would lose all the Indo, Australian, NZ players. Trow in the language barriers force players to a server they can't even communicate with people You would lose a large majority of the Spanish speaking from South America, Mexico.

My ping on Tegan is 30MS, on Agathon it jumps to 125MS and they are both suppose to be in the United states. Agathon is almost unplayable for me. The European servers I jump to over 200MS. I am NOT the only one B*gpoint would lose a large number USA, Canadian players.

Merging server would be the stupidest thing B*gpoint could do. It would force what little players are left after the CE to leave.

Merging the servers is a terrible idea.

Servers are stationary objects around earth, they cannot just merge (put in close proximity) with the traditional sence of merging it breaks their purpose, if they do the ping will skyrocket!

What is a server?.. watch this 7 min video:

I understand the idea of connecting all people together, it is indeed a noble thought, or the inability of people to tranfer their characters on another server...because of loneliness.

Even i have very low ping on Grimmag but im only playing on Heredur server cause i knew where most people play, years ago.

The only vial way they can merge is: via programming(very heavy in bytes to storage and run 24 hours) or by adding more servers( it costs money).. to connect with the other servers "partially" ...what i mean is 1. the global chat and 2. the lists of groups, around dracania !

Lets investigate what will happen with only those two cases!

What will happen if we merge the servers:
The (1.) is easy, cause its just live text with some minor delays in the transmition 250ms to 2.5sec interval between the servers as max being the worst case scenario.

For (2.) the game may lag because of this when you open the lists for about 2sec to 5sec interval between the servers as max being the worst case scenario.(yeap crazy spikes of 5000ms , its true!!)

So lets find a solution for this two:
Lets start with (2.) which in the end helps (1.) happen too!

(2.) is a little bit tricky cause it needs a lot of programming schemes, the trick is when you form a group with others, you can see them only when you enter the dungeon, the same way instances work! but you cant find others in your group via instances! cause you are on different server! only when entering the dungeon the group of different servers will be able to see each other! Meaning that they have to change how forming a group works in the game, via programming, an updated version of it!

(2.) and (1.): So rather than merge the servers into one which will increase the ping and reduce the servers, they need to add more servers to reduce the ping! and make this more viable actually, whos purpose of those communication servers is to support the game servers! to be able to communicate each other specific data! This is more of a safe way to do it cause we dont want ones server's problem interact with the other servers! if one game server is down the other game servers get blanc data from the communication servers rather than getting infected or effected!

Fascinating actually that it is doable! but the research costs money and needs effort in programming skills, cause just to make you happy... its not that they gain anything from it!!!! xD some ideas need to have more of a win-win aproach for all parties involved to be viable and worth their time!!! xD

Only IF you overcome the physical obstacle :D
(the following is not a reply to you but rather an explanation for the OP)
Communication between client and server is usually dependent on distance.
In a best possible scenario the data is traveling through internet (fiber optic cable) at speed close to speed of light ... so the travel from point A to point B takes time. Knowing that client-server communication is a two-way street , the 5000km distance suddenly becomes 10000km distance that the data needs to pass through and it takes time for the travel. Therefore players 50km close to the server will have less lag than players at 5000km distance ... at the end players far away from the server are not able to play or are put at disadvantage compared to other players that are close.
there are 2 ways in order to overcome this obstacle :
    1. DSO Devs need to make a shortcut and push data travel through a wormhole -- they can actually do it ... but they won't be allowed to do that because it would not be according to our modern laws of Physics and Neil deGrasse Tyson won't like it.
    2. DSO Devs could make a buff that amplifies the speed at which the data is traveling through the cables -- this buff would make data travel at speed ten times faster than the speed of light.
The second one is not just possible but there are rumors that the devs have already done it. Due to the speed buff there is no lag anymore and the players are no longer experiencing delays ... they are handling things in advance instead.
Instead of "lag" players are getting "haste". They can do things before they even happen ... like in example the bot-ban notification texts could be read by the cheaters before they would be even sent by the system.
Therefore we can see that the server merge is the best thing to be done and the topic of the thread is justified.
BTW there are thousands of threads on this forum on this same topic ... but you had to make a "video" :)

lol xD you should be a stand up comedian!

For those who are reading this and dont know what to do because they choose a low ping server and want to go to a high populated server! i will tell you this, that it's more resonable to actually create and start a new character from level 1 on the other servers now!!!!than later, because the CE dark Legacy is fresh and many players are in the same stage as you!!!

And if you do it, dont forget! you are not allowed to complain afterwards about high ping xD ,like many others ! xD

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
As you can see here, there are actually only 2 physical pieces of hardware (denoted by the 2 IP addresses). One in "Germany" and one in "California, U.S.A.". Just like other "web site hosting" services, many "web sites" (or in this case "game servers") are on the same hardware but have different addresses. Also notice that there are 5 different URLs, one for each "game server".

Also notice that I only have 2 ping times. One for each of the 2 physical servers.

Oh, and on the Agathon server I play on, my latency at home is normally around 45ms. :D These pings are from work during my lunch. :p

Yes, indeed! the only conclusion we can make from this, is, that you should play at Agathon or Tegan server because of low ping but the reason of this thread's discussion is that players want to play in a populated server! hence the merge suggestion! and if you want to play at a high populated server you have to choose Heredur! regardless of it's ping!

My take in this discussion was how to make this possible, since, its better to say how to connect the 5 servers rathen just merge... which is a horrible idea if we are talking about ping and how much just 1 server can handle loads of data!

The solution is to add servers(communication servers) that have the role of communicating data between game servers!

This is how the "merge" idea can occur but as an illusion because in reality it is a connection!!!

    --- MERGED ---

There's always room for a Diva xD

    Hue
For now it can be 1 server and it will be still ghost server
They should do 1big server than 5 ghosts servers
Idk how ppl play on tegan/agathon/werian when bp force to play in pt but hello even before the CE they was ghosts servers so with who ppl can do a pt?
    And.
We should have a choice that we want to Play in pt or not. Now we havent this choice

No. You completely missed the conclusions. Go back and read it again slowly.

    The conclusions is that
    • Tegan and Agathon are 2 "Game Programs" running on ONE computer.
    • Heredur and Grimmag and Werian are 3 "Game Programs" running on ONE computer.

On each of these two computers, the cross game "communication" is guaranteed to be <1ms.

The only reason to not combine "Tegan with Agathon" and "Heredur with Grimmag with Werian" is that they hope to one day have a population again. Thus if they did, they would eventually have to start another separate "Game Server" that would have no old players to help the new players.

However, what I posted proves that it wouldn't be hard to merge OR communicate between "games" in the 2 groups.

yeah ... lets merge them using just a copper cable... bacause thats how tecnology works after all... xD lol

Having population again in the way they think about it... will never come!

My analysis was about a solution of: how to connect ALL 5 servers together!!!!!

Maybe its you who needs to read it again! xD
