ATM I am at ~1.8 attack speed (I can go bit higher but it doesn't help me with the next break point).

Remember ... my goal is to achieve 2.00 (or higher) attack speed without spending a single point from the knowledge tree.
    Lets take this case:
longbow with 30% attack speed (from 2 enchantments) + gloves with 30% attack speed + 5x 14% royal sapphires (ATM I have 4x royal and 1x sacred sapphire) + this or this pet (I am using the raptor 5%)

That would be 1.05 attack speed from all enchantments ... and 0.3 from the bow
I am using this formula (you can use different but i like this one because i made it XD):

(weapon's base attack speed + (weapon's base attack speed * sum of all attack speed boosts)) = attack speed
    (attack speed * weapon's attack speed enchantment) = bonus(multiplier)
attack speed + bonus = total attack speed (attack/second)

    that is:

    (0.8333333333333334 + (0.8333333333333334 * 1.05))
    = 0.8333333333333334 + 0.8750000000000001 = 1.708333333333333

    1.708333333333333 * 0.3 = 0.5124999999999999

    1.708333333333333 + 0.5124999999999999 = 2.220833333333333

this way I would get 2.220833333333333 attack speed with my Armor of Darkness without the gloves

BUT ... if you are using Witch Chaser (which I never will) you should get even higher attack speed ... that is 1.161 attack speed from the gear

    that is:

    (0.8333333333333334 + (0.8333333333333334 * 1.161))
    = 0.8333333333333334 + 0.9675000000000001 = 1.800833333333333

    1.800833333333333 * 0.3 = 0.5402499999999999

    1.800833333333333 + 0.5402499999999999 = 2.341083333333333

In other words ... you have a room for using gloves with less attack speed than 30% and longbow with little bit less than 30% weapon attack speed enchantments.

    That is my goal. XD

Hmm so I'm guessing you don't use the 10 point wisdom talent "Increased Weapon Damage" which reduces the speed by 10%?

That skill is not calculated in the example ... but there should be enough attack speed to get to 2.00 even if selected.

EDIT: It should be probably ~2.1 with the first example ... even if the skill is selected.

For those of you wanting a simpler equation, here you go...

    TotalSpeed=(BaseWeaponSpeed*(1+%SpeedFromWeapon))*(1+%SpeedFromGems+%SpeedFromEquipment+%SpeedFromKnowledge-%10BehemothSpeedPeanltyIfUsed)

So, working backwards, if your goal is 2.00 speed and you are looking at using a bow with 30% attack speed:

    2.00=(0.833̅3̅ *(1+0.3))*(1+%SpeedNotOnWeapon)
    2.00=1.083̅3̅ *(1+%SpeedNotOnWeapon)
    2.00/1.083̅3̅ =1+%SpeedNotOnWeapon
    1.8̅4̅6̅1̅5̅3̅ =1+%SpeedNotOnWeapon
    0.8̅4̅6̅1̅5̅3̅=%SpeedNotOnWeapon

If you are planning to use the Behemoth talent, you will need
0.9461538̅4̅6̅1̅5̅3̅ speed from your gems, gear, set bonuses, and knowledge points.

You know what... those numbers are rediculous.
How about we just call it 84.6% or 94.6% speed?

For all that rangers complain about not having a "true 2H weapon," it is worth noting that no other class could have such a "easy" time hitting 2.00 speed with their slow/high damage weapon. 2H Guns, Staffs, Hammers, Axes, and even Swords don't have speed lines, making it next to impossible to reach those speeds. Add in that you are able to use a quiver with that speed and moderate damage (compared to gun/staff/hammer), and I'd say that RAs are right on par with the other 2H classes, despite all the griping to the contrary.

That is why I said there is no need for crossbows ... because most of the rangers are using shortbow and never used longbow in the arena.
I am using longbows since ever ... and I know their potential. Not to speak now ... with these knowledge skills and 20% less conc. spending.

Where does the pet bonus go? .. in equipment or is it a multiplier to overall speed.

  7. _Baragain_

In equipment. It behaves just like an HP/Damage/Armor/Resistance pet or the % increase from Essence and influences the final stat based on the root stat, not the total stat. It is also worth noting that buffs (either from items or from skill talents) are also counted in the enchantment category too.

Hi all, this is my ranger. It's still only lvl 20 in Wisdom (divided in 10% for speed and 10% for damage).

I'm using 4 pieces of the LorTac set (helmet, shoulders, gloves and boots) to get the 10% damage bonus for the set, and to get advantage of the 10% increased speed in boots and gloves (i also have 2 more pieces of the lortac set in the locker: the armor and the quiver). My current armor gives me another 9,76% damage bonus.

Do you guys have any advice in how i should evolve my ranger from here (regarding gear, strategy, etc)?

Also should i be using / investing in any of this other weapons instead?

Astral Peridot and Jewel of Willpower are not an option for me. Longbow's 20% cost reduction is just enough ...
If you are using those then you are losing power as well ... because instead of them you can use other gems.
ATM I have 3 gem slots in my cloak (I am waiting for the new cloak so i won't open 2 more until I see what cloak will be offered) and 5 in my helm. I have 6 Jewels of Rage (using 5) ... 2 Jewels of Immunity ... 1 Crystal Solstice Star ... 1 Solstice Star (not using ATM) and 1 Concetrated Solstice Crystal (not using ATM). So basically I would choose combination of those.

ATM the arena is broken ... you can have even 4.00 attack speed yet skilled SW will always own you. That is because you don't have a defense against their basic skill. DKs and midgets have some kind of immunity to stuns (which is not enough) ... but rangers don't have any. Therefore 4 seconds immunity to suns should be brought back for all classes ... that was one of the skills that we played arena for ... in the past. And after R155 it was simply stolen from us. Not that this skill is the only reason why the arena is broken but it is related to your question.
You don't have to ask what bow i will choose :p ... that answer is known in advance ... otherwise why would I spending my time improving my Longbow character.
But in the end the outcome is pretty much the same whether you are using longbow or shortbow ...
Using just math and formulas is so damn wrong ... because playing is not only a math. That is just a theory ... but the reality is different.

    That is very nice bow.
You have 2 almost perfect lines of weapon damage ... that I can't get in four years.

Ah ... you are aiming for the arena build ... I am not.
But If they fix the arena ... in future ... I might make painless transformation. Of course if I get decent shield ... all i get so far is pathetic under average shields.

True enough, but is sure easier than back in the days with knights to farm glyphs now. If your some free rich-man / or just having a lot of time. You can probably do 5mil+ a day doing Q3 all the time. :) - Tested it some time ago & farmed over 300k glyphs per hour.

That would be 16+ hours a day everyday doing q3 over and over. I find that as appealing as watching a superfluid trying to become a solid.

This is not true and never was. An experienced and skilled ranger can play pvp successfully with a speed of 1.6. I really wouldnt go below this breakpoint. But specially for now since the bearach bow has been introduced, 95% of the strongest and most successful pvp rangers play with scatter shot and bearach bow. For this playstyle you really dont need 2.0 speed. IMO the best breakpoint for pvp is still 1.77, it's the ideal compromise between sacrificing dmg/crit/hp for speed/agility and vice versa.

What I really would like to throw in for dicussion though: I'm currently playing with the full bearach set, mostly because of the bow and secondly because I cannot find a better belt...And there are 2 things that are really annoying: For all other classes the set bonus is somehow improving your dmg output, for mages by quite a lot actually. And all what the ranger gets is a bugged animation and tiny stun enlargement.
