Curse of the Black Knights: Rage of Dragan (Easter 2015)
    Official Event Guide & Walkthrough

    top.png

    Introduction - Plot

The Spring Festival eggs have been stolen and the trail leads back to Castle Ravencaw! Why are monsters suddenly hatching from the otherwise harmless eggs? Is Gnob in cahoots with Dragan of the Damned? And what’s happening with the eggs in the underground sites, which can be reached via the Shadow Portals in Castle Ravencaw? You are about to find out!

Dragan is planning to corrupt the Easter Spring Festival to achieve his dusky plans. He wants to manipulate colorful eggs with his evil magic and use the corrupted eggs to attack Kingshill's population from inside.

Please notice: The event is playable from level 1 on but of course you need to go through the tutorial in order to play it. You can play the event on your own (single), but it might be easier to play in a group.

    Start the Event

    mt.png

To start the event you need to enter Castle Ravencaw. The entrance to Castle Ravencaw is located in the city of Kingshill, between the NPCs Thabo, Sir Hardy and Gnob. Make sure you speak with NPC Gnob before you enter the portal to get the first quest called The Egg Thief. Click on the portal to start the event and enter Castle Ravencaw, the entrance is free.

On the other side of the portal you will encounter NPC Toniosha Starkhammer. The heroic Steam Mechanica will offer you two repeatable quests, one of which will reward you with the entrance to Dragan’s Fortress. Once you spoke with Toniosha, proceed and enter the castle. Inside the castle you will find merchant NPC Shady John and Janus Fox. Janus will offer you more quests.
    Inside Castle Ravencaw

In Castle Ravencaw, you can find three entrances to dungeons Dragan’s Excavation Site, the Sulfur Desert and the Ghastly Grave, as well as two other entrances: one of the two leads you to Dragan himself (Dragan’s Refuge) and the other one is Castle Ravencaw but with a higher difficulty degree (Castle Ravencaw Difficult).
    Special Easter Bestiary

    Egg Guardians Trolls

These enemies, as their name already reveals, are guarding colorful eggs and will immediately attack you, as you get closer to an egg. Whenever you see a colorful egg, you can be sure that an Egg Guardian Troll is close and vice versa.
    Colorful Eggs

Since this is the official Easter event, you will find up to 20 colorful eggs scattered around every dungeon.

Upon clicking on an egg, there is a high chance that a Dragonspawn will hatch from it (remember, the eggs have been tainted by someone!). Some of the eggs will not have any enemy inside and will reward your hero with currencies and other loot.

Every colorful egg can contain five different types of Dragonspawns. Each of them will attack you with the element it represents and will leave the screen with a final attack when defeated, so be careful. Dragonspawns will always reward you with essences; see the overview below:

In front of the entrances to Dragan’s Excavation Site, the Sulfur Desert and the Ghastly Grave, you will find the event chests; each entrance has three dark chests and one wooden chest. In order to open these chests, you need to complete the quests that Agents 001, 002 and 003 will give you. The dark chests will only open once and the wooden chest will open only after you have opened all three dark chests. Unlike the dark chests, the wooden chest can be opened infinite times.
Note: One of the chests will give you a Mystic Cube, even if you are not a premium membership holder.

Overview of Dungeons in Castle Ravencaw

    Dragan’s Excavation Site
    Entrance fee: 30 Cursed Pearls
This dungeon is a great starter dungeon for players who have never played any of the events of the series Curse of the Black Knights. You will need to visit this dungeon to complete certain quests, for example: With your own weapons

    The Sulfur Desert
    Entrance fee: 50 Cursed Pearls
The soil in this dungeon is toxic and will drain your character’s life constantly. Bring your character to the outer corners of this dungeon as these are safe areas. Well, you will still encounter monsters but at least the soil is not toxic. You will need to visit this dungeon to complete certain quests, for example: With your own weapons

    Ghastly Grave
    Entrance fee: 120 Cursed Pearls
Although it has the highest entrance fee, the Ghastly Grave has also valuable loot. Inside the Ghastly Grave your hero will be able to collect items called Sargon’s Remains. In each direction of the dungeon you will find statues that can be activated with the right amount of Sargon’s Remains (see table below). Players that still have the quest Entering the Shadow Kingdom can fight against Sargon’s Corpse to progress in the quest.

Defeat the powerful duo, King Heredur’s Corpse and Sargon’s Corpse, to receive two Ghastly Keys and open the Equipment Chest of Sargon and Heredur. In order to open the chest, you will always need two Ghastly Keys. The chest can be opened infinite times and can contain unique equipment that is connected to Sargon.

    Statues in the Ghastly Grave
There are 4 statues but only 3 can be clicked and activated. The statue that is located centrally is only decorative, it cannot be activated with Sargon’s Remains.

Location on mapStatue NameNeeded Items For Activation & Effect
Lower South EastSargon’s FuryIn order to activate the statue you need 15 of Sargon’s Remains
Effect: A small army of champion monsters and high level monsters will be unleashed which drop Sargon’s Shadows.
Upper North WestSargon’s RageIn order to activate the statue you need 45 of Sargon’s Remains
Effect: A big army of champion monsters and high level monsters will be unleashed which drop Sargon’s Shadows.
Upper North EastSargon’s RevengeIn order to activate the statue you need 100 of Sargon’s Remains

    Dragan’s Refuge

Entrance fee: 1 Strong Cursed Pearl
    This is the final battle ground where you will have to face boss monster Dragan of the Damned. Dragan will need up to 5 seconds to reveal his final form and then he will start to attack your hero mercilessly. Your hero will not need any special essences to defeat him but stay vigilant and evade Dragan’s attacks. Once defeated, Dragan will always drop a piece of the unique set Black Warlord Regalia.Note: The Black Warlord Regalia comes in three tiers: Black Squire, Black Knight and finally Black Warlord. The Black Knight and Warlord set pieces can only be obtained through crafting;

The following upgrades are possible with the items:
    - 4 Helmets/Capes or Pauldrons of the Black Squire = 1 Helmet/Cape or Pauldron of the Black Knight
    - 4 Helmets/Capes or Pauldrons of the Black Knight = 1 Helmet/Cape or Pauldron of the Black Warlord

Once you have collected the Cape, Helmet and Pauldrons of the Warlord, you will receive a set bonus: +30% block rate, +30% Mana/Rage/Steam and +30% weapon damage with two-handed weapons. Since the Ranger doesn’t have any two-handed weapons, the following bonus will be awarded: +30% concentration, +20% block rate, +10% damage with longbows.

    NameIconsDescriptionHow to obtain
Black Squire Items (Unique) d1.pngThe set is equipped with good defensive equipment and in addition to other things improves blocking chances.
Note: Out of the three items, the helmet drops the most frequently and the cape the least frequently.
You receive parts of this set after defeating Dragan in Dragan’s Refuge. Not a guaranteed drop.
Black Knight Items (Unique) d2.png Upgrade Level I (Upgraded): The set is equipped with strong defensive equipment and in addition to other things improves blocking chances. Can only be crafted
Should you have four identical items, for example, 4 Helmets of the Black Squire, you can upgrade these helmets on the workbench to Helmets of the Black Knight.
Black Warlord Set (Unique) d3.pngUpgrade Level II (Upgraded): This set is equipped with much stronger defensive equipment and in addition to other things will improve your blocking chances. Can only be crafted
Should you have four identical items, for example, 4 Helmets of the Black Knight, you can upgrade these helmets on the workbench to Helmets of the Black Warlord.

    Hard mode
You are able to choose between the normal difficulty degree, where all quest related content will happen and a hard mode.

    Castle Ravencaw (Difficult)
Entrance fee: 1 Red Cursed Pearl
The entrance to the hard mode is located in Castle Ravencaw next to Janus Fox. Once you’ve entered the castle, you will notice that dungeons, such as the Ghastly Grave, are not accessible anymore. Instead 4 different statues are located in all cardinal directions.

By clicking on the statues, your hero will summon mighty champions. Note that your character will need to use Cursed Pearls to activate the statues. Every champion has a chance to drop a key (Cursed Pearl to Dragan's Refuge (Difficult)) to Dragan’s Refuge. The entrance to Dragan’s Refuge (Difficult) is located centrally on the map Castle Ravencaw (Difficult). All of the four champions drop red Challenge Eggs that your hero needs to complete Dragan’s Challenges (see Dragan’s Challenges).

Location on map Castle RavencawStatue NameActivation
    Cost
Needed Items For Activation & Effect
North SideHeadless Statue5 Cursed PearlsEffect: The boss monster Headless Horseman will be summoned
West SideDemon Statue10 Cursed PearlsEffect: The boss monster Summoned Demon will appear

East SideStatue of the King20 Cursed PearlsEffect: The boss monster Summoned King Heredur will appear
    Dragan’s Refuge (Difficult)
Entrance fee: Cursed Pearl to Dragan's Refuge (Difficult)

Like the regular Dragan’s Refuge this is the final battleground where you will have to face boss monster Dragan of the Damned. However, the difficulty degree is noticeably higher.
Note: Speaking of higher, the chances that the pauldrons or the cape of the Black Squire will drop here are higher than in the normal difficulty degree.

    Mini Events - Dragan’s Challenges 1-4
    Required Character Level: 1-45

During the entire event, your heroes will be able to complete four mini challenges that will be activated on certain dates (see timetable below). Dragan’s Challenges are mini events that run along the main event. Each of the four challenges only lasts 48 hours and will only be activated once. Each of the challenges has a different progress bar and thus also different rewards. In order to fill the progress bar of a mini challenge you need to collect red Challenge Eggs. You can review your personal progress, the runtime of the mini challenge and the rewards at any time in the event overview window (hotkey: E).

How to participate in the challenges
The challenges will automatically be activated on the listed dates (see timetable), all you have to do is enter Castle Ravencaw in the difficult difficulty degree. The castle will be invaded by Colorful Dragonspawns that need to be defeated. Colorful Dragonspawns will drop Colorful Essences which your hero will need to stand a chance against the mini boss Fake Gnob. If you hero has no Colorful Essences equipped, your hero’s attacks will not harm Fake Gnob at all. Alternatively, you can also purchase Colorful Essences in the shop (hotkey: T) from NPC Shady John for Andermant or Gnob for Draken.

You will need to defeat Fake Gnob several times as he drops red Challenge Eggs and you will need them in order to complete Dragan’s Challenges. Red Challenge Eggs also drop from the four champions in Castle Ravencaw (Difficult).

    Frequently Asked Questions

In the Ghastly Grave, am I able to get all of the items to complete the set of Sargon?
Yes, the Equipment Chest of Sargon and Heredur has all items of the set. Each item can drop; you just have to be lucky.

I have incomplete parts for mounts from previous Curse of the Black Knights events; can I obtain missing parts in this event?
No, unfortunately you won’t be able to get parts for the Tame Battle Spider, the Onyx Dragonspawn or the Fester-mare.

Is the miniature version of Dragan present this time?
No, Dragan is going solo this time.

After I have defeated Dragan, I didn't receive the items I wanted. What can I do?
As soon as Dragan has been defeated, he will not die. Instead he will briefly disappear from the boss room Dragan’s Refuge. Leave the room too and as soon as you have the “Cursed Pearl to Dragan’s Refuge”, you can re-enter the boss room and recommence your fight with Dragan. You can keep repeating this as often as you like but of course, only as long as the event lasts.

What happens with the Cursed Pearls after the event?
Should you have some left over after the event, they will remain in your inventory. We recommend keeping the Cursed Pearls. They will most likely be needed again in future events.

    Why do I need Draken?
This is our event currency. You can only win Draken during the event. They are useful in the game, since the event merchant named Gnob sometime drops by Kingshill and sells special items which can only be bought with Draken.

Can I continue with the “Kill Sargon 999 times” (Entering the Shadow Realm) Quest?
Yes, you can progress in the quest by defeating Summoned Sargon the Terrible in Castle Ravencaw (Difficult) or Sargon’s Corpse in the Ghastly Grave.

I cannot revive for free (usually costs 40 Andermant), even though I am a premium member, is this intended in the difficult mode?
Yes, this is intended for the difficult mode. It is one of the handicaps to increase the difficulty degree.

Are there any quests or chests that unlock after a certain time period?
No, this time there are no quests that will only be available after a certain time but you will need to complete the quest row The Egg Thief from Gnob to unlock further quests. Dragan’s Challenges are independent and not bound to a quest.

How many red Challenge Eggs can one get from every champion and the Fake Gnob in Castle Ravencaw (Difficult)?
    - Sargon: min. 25, max. 35
    - King Heredur: min. 15, max. 23
    - Demon: min. 10, max. 15
    - Headless Horseman: min. 8, max. 12
    - Fake Gnob: min. 65, max 95
    - TOTAL (by defeating all bosses): min. 123, max. 180

Can I receive the item Stone Jabbax Hand from Gnob or can I accept the quest
A Gnob in Distress from Gnob?

Unfortunately not for this event. You cannot deliver the Stone Jabbax Hand to Gnob and he will also not offer you or let you deliver the quest A Gnob in Distress

What am I supposed to do with the items “The Shadow of Sargon” which drop in the Ghastly Grave?
Please keep these items, you will need them for an event quest.

Why Can I not use Pulsating Cursed Pearls to enter Castle Ravencaw (difficult)?
Pulsating Cursed Pearls were an item to unlock an entrance to Castle Ravencaw in previous events with Dragan – they are a quest item. Red Cursed Pearl Pearls are currency, an entrance fee. They look the same but have different mechanics.
