The bell guard on the Cloaked Wrath sword is backwards. It looks like the weapon was designed by someone who has never held a weapon before, much less done any fencing. A saber/cutlass type blade (curved, single-edged) with a guard should have the guard facing outward to protect the fingers. The only thing the guard on that weapon would do for you would be to make you drop your weapon or sprain your wrist in combat. There are a lot of less-than-optimal-looking (IMO) weapons in this game, but this design isn't even viable! It should be re-designed with the bell guard facing out, not inward. Thanks for listening to my rant... also, I still want the sword for my DK, so please deposit one in my backpack. Thanks :p

I'm sure that transparent Emerald blade there is also used for swords as well...realism is one of the least things we need to worry about here :D. I personally think it looks bad ass.

Though I appreciate the point you're trying to make, and the fact that you took the time to comment, I must respectfully disagree. I don't think the two points raised are equal in importance. Comparing a color choice to a backwards-mounted guard just isn't a good analogy (IMO). One is a style decision, the other is simply a funny-looking mistake (again, IMO).

Don't get me wrong; I like the design. But it could look a whole lot better (IMO, again) if the guard was turned around 180 degrees.

alot more detail and thought needs to go into this game...

If it were on the bottom I don't think we'd get to see that menacing skull.

I'm sure that if they actually went through the trouble of re-configuring the guard it would be a simple matter to mirror-image the skull design and place it on the guard again.

To be honest, with all the bugs and problems currently in the game, I don't expect much to come out of this. I just think the sword could look a lot better with the guard facing the right way. If I ever get the drop from Khalys or Mortis, I would be much happier with the appearance if it was configured properly.

It might good to turn the bell guard 180 degree. But let's hope there is no minor mistake like the blade also turned 180 degree.

I want to laugh... but with what we've seen of fixes lately... it could happen

Well they probably fix it, if someone pointed to it and they see it, like they fixed Sargon's shield. But mentioning "quoted" above was in no need, as if someone shoots you with a gun(in our case a Dwarf) you will not gonna need any protection for your fingers. :)

I don't even think it's supposed to be a bell guard. It's just there to make the sword look cool. You can't make the best sword in the game and give it a crappy design.

You guys are saying the skull should be on the bottom but a simple solution would be to leave the skull where it is and to create an actual bell guard... you know, something that's supposed to be a bell guard.

Yeah ofc, upside down skull will look like crap anyway.

Idk about others, but I like the design. A emerald blade coming out of a open mouth skull, pretty cool. Shapes, color, size, all good.

If we go for "complete" realism, then this sword's blade must have the same shape as the real one, that thin at the end will cause to break and Stainless Steel ofc, not emerald like one above mentioned. :D

As for realism, not all swords had bell guards, in fact most sported a variant of the cross guard. The cross guard was intended for fist protection as much as it was for blocking and capturing opponent's sword on parry, with some variants focusing more on the grab rather than protection. These variants had the guard pointing outward, forming a sort of a trident with the blade, which is kind of what the skull is shaped like. So it might be a stylized cross guard .

Ah OK, I wasn't seeing the design correctly! I now realize that the blade is coming out of the mouth of the skull (after what Geobli said). Now the design looks different to me and I see why the skull would look weird turned upside-down.

I think also, as suggested by Infamous and spiro, the object probably isn't supposed to be a bell guard at all, but just the skull and "hair", or something, streaming off the back of the skull.

Thanks for pointing out that I wan't seeing the design correctly, guys. This hilt still isn't my favorite design, but I understand why they made it the way they did. IMO, it would look better with the large lump of the skull removed from the side, or placed more in the center of the blade (like a top-view, on the flat of the blade, rather than on the edge) but that is just my opinion and the style choices are for the designers to make since the game is their creation.

If there are no objections, this thread can be closed. I'm satisfied that the "guard" is not what I thought it was supposed to be so it isn't backwards as I originally thought!

[p.s. I still want the weapon regardless of the hilt design :D ]
