Do you think the suggestion would make PVP more fair on low lvls?

  1. Yes, defenately.

    Hi guys,

As you guys all know the lvl 45 arena crawls with flag bearers and marshals which I have no real problem with as the people who play there often have played for a while. Hell, I am one of them.

The big problem is the PVP bullies who stay on low lvls and only play PVP, often with $ invested. They are often times nearly impossible to kill but that's not the big issue. The big issue is that they are ruining the Arena for some people who are trying to learn how to handle their first toons in DSO. I've been thinking a lot about this and think I've come up with a possible solution which is:

Bind the PVP lvls to character lvls and make the character stop earning honor points if they don't move on...

    Example:
When a lvl 1 player goes into the arena and earns enough points to get to lvl 1 PVP he can "take the lvl". When he has PVP lvl 1 he is allowed to gather the PVP points for PVP lvl 2 - but he isn't allowed to gather any more then what's required for PVP lvl 2 and he may not "take the PVP lvl" before his character hits lvl 2.

    This would mean that:
    1. Lvl 1 characters can face characters with maximum lvl and PVP lvl 5 or 6 (not sure how the cap looks today).
    2. Those who buy 20+ dmg stones on lvl 1 are forced to lvl and move on to tougher competition or stay and make no honor points whatsoever.
    3. P2P players who invest lost of $ are not ripped off, they are just always pushed into tougher competition (which from a buisness point of view is good because they must spend more if they want to keep their advantage).
    4. Lvl 40 PVP skills are restricted to players who face players lvl 35-45.
    5. There can still be lvl 25 recruits but not lvl 25 KOTOs.

    Please vote and leave comments.

Too funny. The day DSO stops lvl 40 fame tree from farming free honor from lower level fame then I will wholeheartedly agree with you. The only chance a low level PvP-er has is to reach KoTO and higher by lvl 30 so WHEN they reach lvl 45 they stand a chance against YOU.
Why should you get free honor from farming 40's who are ranked lower than you? What about the lvl 40 who decides to try PvP and YOU ruin it for them.
The toon-builders used to bug me, but since I don't have to hang around KH, I never see them and I could care less anymore about it. Heck I even have a lvl 13 'twink" that I sometimes PvP with, put a bit of money on it, bought big gems etc., but I find PvP as boring as grinding so my twink is rarely on, just for dq is all.
And why as an end game level player, assuming lvl 40 fame tree now, do you care? Do the low level KoTO's affect your game play at all?
PvP suggestions have long been ignored by the dev team since they tried balancing it but everyone cried about wait times, so that patch was reversed.
It is what it is now, players will exploit what they can to gain rank now at low levels, it's just a part of the game. And BP will not change anything because like I have and so many others do and still do, it puts $$$ in the game. And if BP was to mess with limiting low levels and rank gain, they would lose A LOT of income.
The only workable fix, which has been suggested a thousand times on the old forums and now more here on the new, is to tweak grouping so that a player cannot group with any player more than 5 levels higher than them so that xp gain would happen, in PvE and PvP.

Agreed. Zero XP gain (PvE = grouping with a high-level friend, PvP = exhaustion wins) is the main thing allowing twinking. Prevent that, and the vast majority of the twinking issues cease to exist. It's also the easiest way to stop the twinking. All other suggestions I've seen have had a lot of steps, caveats and what-have-yous. Stopping zero XP gain is the simplest and most elegant solution to the problem.

I still believe taking away the +1/+1 advantages of the pvp tree would solve much of the balancing problems. It's at least worth trying.

Agree, the pvp tree ruined it in my opinion. There was no need to add so much extra damage to the players. I remember open beta and PvP was a free for all, all you had was what you could equip and whatever gems you had. It was a lot better that way I think. But back then a lvl 40 would decimate lvl 20's in arena because there wasn't any level breaks lol.

This is not a problem, this is a feature.

This is not true. If you are a KOTO lvl 3 you wil NEVER NEVER EVER get as an oponent lvl 1 rankless noob. You will get lvl 8 ardemant centurion or above.
You don't know anything about the game LOL.

not. you are not thinking LOL.

Ok you want to kill any progress in the arena.
Now it's slowed down by ELO more then you can even imagine.

You think it's not enough. LOL.

    Smart boy, really...

You'll wait for an arena for 1 month.

You have some points but I should disagree with you.

What is wrong if someone only want to play PVP, if some players can do only PVE why not other do PVP only. Also players get experience points through PVP too.

If you suggest level cap On PVP then why not same apply to PVE too ie noone can reach level 45 unless he is level 40+ in PVP.

Also you seem to forget the Knowledge tree... which gives 1% damage and 1% HP on each level. Shouldn't it be restricted on players level too!!

If you have better gears and skills PVP level doesn't matter much.

It's those bonuses that makes a higher honored player much stronger. If you remove them, you can expand the fame level brackets since the only advantages higher famed players would have is the talents from the tree. Doing this would actually shorten waiting times.

Waiting times are long because there are few players in arena. Now the tolerance of ELO system is +-5 lvls +-5 ranks and if you are TOP player (lvl 45 Field Marshal and above) you are waiting a long time because you need at least lvl 40 KOTO and above.

But ELO hesitates to make a duel of lvl 45 Field Marshal against lvl 40 KOTO. It will wait aproximately 4 minutes and it will let lvl 40 KOTO against lvl 45 Field Marshal only if anybody closer to lvl 40 KOTO would not be present on the server during those 4 minutes.

Do you catch it ? In real life you will wait for any PVP with lvl 45 Field Marshal some 10minutes - 1 hour. But you''ll have any arena with lvl 1 Candidate in 10 seconds. It's not fair at all.

If you have lvl 3 KOTO you'd wait for any arena forever .
+-5lvls barrier means that lvl 1-8 Centurion or more must be present.
And ELO will hesitate to arrange duel with him for 10 minutes or so trying to find anybody closer to his rank.

    That's the true.

You want to change ELO for +-1 lvl and all players will be waiting for hours or days. Nobody wants it.

I realise it's hard sometimes to stay on topic for someone such as yourself but you got to try harder! You can do it, I believe in you! :)

Anyway, if my intellect would be the topic all I can say is that you shot yourself in the foot mate.
First of all, I got roughly 18 weeks left before I get my masters degree in dental surgery...I don't know if you know what that means so I'll explain it to you just in case: It means that my intellect has been put to the test at a University for the last five years. So your oppinion and little attempt to piss me off means **** to me.
Second of all, while your comments said absolutely nothing about me they said a whole lot about you and I'll give you some advice for the future. What you did right there is a form of something called a suppression technique. Maybe you've heard of them. They exist in real life and they exist online. The idea is to pull attention away from a topic and redirect it at something else to prevent the topic from being discussed, preferably making the one who brought up the topic in the first place feel insecure, supressed and insulted in the process. The problem with using suppression techniques is that you look like a fool if you fail and that person calls you out on it. So as much as I love calling people out, please stay on topic and don't use them...it's really not nice.

Back to the topic, that +1/-1 dmg thingy with the PVP skill tree is a really good point.

[You started by saying that the subject of his post, your intellect, was off-topic. Then you proceeded to construct a lengthy (and somewhat self-serving) post about said topic... "Isn't it ironic, dontcha think"? Also, no matter what you may say to the contrary, responding in such a manner to being trolled shows that it does bother you.]

    Anyway, this:
or eliminating zero XP gain strategies, I think, have the best chance of solving the problem with the least complications and potential programming disasters. We don't need any more complications; the current lot of programmers apparently can't even fix the simplest bug, or add the most mundane content change, without breaking three times as many things as they are trying to fix. Let's not make their jobs any more complex than absolutely necessary

$$$Anderment$$$ makes the world go round..get used to it..the people on top tend to push the people down low ;) though I agree, it's sad to see newbies getting pwned on their first try in an arena...

just cranking up the xp you get from pvp would fix the twinking thing...

and people who just wanna pvp... can.

I have to agree with the poster in that once you get to 'end-game' you have to wait
long periods. And if you wanna group with your friends, well, that just doesn't happen anymore :(
