Which comes out to what % chance of block?

My block rate number is currently 1957. That gives 67.10% against level 45 mobs/chars. 2100 would be slightly higher, but not significantly higher. The curve starts to flatten out on the diminishing returns when the values reach that high.

i have 68.57% chance of block and 61.72% blocked damage reduction (each shield 's lv upgraded increases about 1% block rate) so i think lv 50 i have 71% or 72% block rate.
i am still finding a better one which can give me 70% chance of block and 65% blocked damage reduction at lv47, thats my goal.
For me block chance always more important than blocked damage reducion .

I know plenty about the diminishing returns. http://drakensangonline.wikia.com/wiki/Calculations is based off of my origonal work on the old forums. It is those diminishing returns that are why balance is so important when it comes to selecting gems, armor sets, and evaluating what truely makes a shield good.

Exactly. BTW, I didn't intend to imply that you didn't know. That comment was more for the less experienced general populace, who may read the forums and not be aware of the phenomena.

Sorry if it came across condensending in anyway, but I figured I'd share the info... I spent a lot of time and effort on the data gathering and tessting and want to make sure people know the info is avilable.

By far the most civilized and friendly exchange I've seen around here. (I do not contribute with such comments and you make me feel bad xd)

No harm, no foul. It's all good ;)

I'm glad you took the time to compile that information. Even though I already had the curve "ball-parked" in my head, it was interesting to read that wiki page just now and get the details of the "diminishing returns" logarithm function. Thanks!

Hehe, hey buddy. Good ta see ya again! :)

Yes, I agree with that statement wholeheartedly. Amount of blocked damage doesn't do anything if you don't block the attack in the first place. My 67.10% chance to block is good enough for me, for now, since I have two or three other things to work on before trying for a better shield. My shield is at lvl 47 now, and you are right; each level upgrade raised my chance to block about 1%. My reduced damage on a successful block is 63.50%. Overall, I think it's a very nice shield and I was happy when I identified it.

It's actually a rational function... I tried a logarithm first but it didn't fit. :p

I stand corrected. As said in guild chat last night, I took a fair amount of math for my degree but I don't always use the correct terminology when describing it. Actually, a lot of the calculus and diff equation stuff... I would just as soon forget. I know it's lazy, but I have computers to do that stuff for me. If there's ever an apocalyptic event, I guess I'll have to re-learn that stuff (in my spare time, between hunting, building and fending off demons and/or zombies :p ).

Before anyone asks, no I don't think about that stuff a lot... anymore. I'm better now

To the readers and OP, sorry about the off-topic. I'll try to keep it on track from here.

@Dzungla I am not trying to be sarcastic, it's funny that your actually gonna farm 6k andermant to open slots on not so good sheild. What happens when you get a good sheild? Are you gonna be sorry you wasted 6k andermant and hours of play on a bad sheild? serously man, think about it.

Whats for my sheild am just realy realy realy pissed off that i open 50+ sheilds and got crappy sheild for it.
