I would like to suggest that there be an option or chance that when extracting Glyph from an item it will not destroy it. Or maybe an item that will protect the equipment to be melt from getting destroyed when extracting it's Glyph value.

This will be particularly useful for situation wherein your current upgraded gear is to be replaced with a new one that has better stats. You would want to extract all the Glyph you spent on the gear but don't want to destroy the item itself because you can still use it for crafting, keep it as a gem holder, or just want to store it for a while in case you might need it in the future.

I was about to suggest this myself its a great idea and i think it should be inplemented that way i don't need to destroy my dark set(oh yes i did) so that i may put my glymphs on my quiver and rings. Also if you have a unique you may want to keep in the future and don't want to permanently destroy like a Gorga quiver or a similar item.

I don't know... then there would be literally no consequences for upgrading an item. Makes it kind of like another currency... or something. I think items should continue to get destroyed after melting.

    I Agree with TheInfamous.

And Ralph you were talking about only upgraded item's right?

You need to be more precise, cause it sounds to me that you suggested that you can extract glyphs from uniques such as Spider-Silk Bow, and still keep an item??

Well both. For upgraded and unique items. BP can sell an item protector with Andermant if they want to and if they want to make it an exclusive feature. Like in other games to protect your item from being destroyed you need premium item and the amount you need depends on the level of the item. Maybe something like that because melting is such a waste if the item itself gets destroyed. Maybe rephrase "Melting" into "Smelting".

If there are certain items you want to keep my suggestion is to increase your farming rate, you can never get enough glyphs :p

But I think that this suggestion has a big number of holes and weaknesses that can be exploited, for me it's fine just the way it is my opinion at least :)

I think the melting system and glyph system is fine right now. As Infamous pointed out, there would be no consequences if we change the system. Having this system gives you a choice, and really, if you need the glyph you'll melt it. Just farm some more.

well i literally had to melt my dark set to take out the glymphs in it and it hurt alittle but i just hope no one has to destroy anything to get their glymphs out of that item to add it to another it would cost silver like extracting gems or repairing armor this would be fair i have 14 million glymphs in my armor is i want to extract it you expect me to destroy everything???

Maybe we should put up a voting pole i think people would vote yes :D

Maybe you shouldn't have melted the dark set. You can always farm glyphs for your other set. This is why you have to make careful choices when upgrading and take the consequences for using several sets. Believe me, many will vote no.

That's an opinion and so is mine maybe we should put a pole.

Yes. Some people have time to farm for Glyph, some people just pay directly for Glyph. Which ever way it is Glyph is very precious as well as the item that you upgraded it with. So when melting you have the consider the fact that you are destroying the item and if getting the Glyph from it is worth it. Mostly you are transferring the Glyph to another item. There's is nothing to think of when you are upgrading an item, if the item is worth upgrading for your current level then of course you will upgrade it to get stronger. As you level up you will get better items and eventually out perform the previous item that you upgraded so you would want to transfer the Glyph from there to the new item. It is not making the wrong decision of upgrading that item in the first place, it is the natural order, the natural flow of the game. You upgrade now and eventually have to replace the item and transfer the Glyph. But is the item you are melting totally worth destroying? Can it still be used in the future? Well that is totally depending on the player and is a matter of opinion and discretion.

Well, the main point is everyone likes it if you can keep the equip. However, there would be no DOWNSIDES to upgrading your equip which really wouldn't promote any usage of your brain and instead would allow upgrading, de-upgrading, and all sorts of exploits like that.

    I like this idea.

I can think of one of my toons that this would have been very helpful. I had a RG, pretty much your tank RG build with a very nice shield that had a few levels of upgrades. Then two things happened. First, I got Gorga's quiver to drop for me and second I started playing in groups more. So I melted the shield.

Now I am playing this toon mostly solo and I really miss the shield in certain circumstances. Btw, even with the shield my RG had over 50% crit chance and a +81% damage enchantments bow so it was not like I was an offensive weakling without the quiver.

So now I am on the long journey to craft a new shield with the same good block enchants as my old to switch off with my Gorga's :( If I could have just melted the upgrade glyphs it would have been much easier to re-up my faithful old shield back to it's former glory :)

    Luck be with ye,

Exactly what I am trying to point out. I'm sure everyone had gone through the same situation as you did and would find the suggested feature very helpful and useful.

As for your point, I got it. But what I am trying to say is this proposal is actually very beneficial for BP as well. They can squeeze more money from players if they want by selling "Protection Charms" or a premium item (sold for Andermant) that will prevent the item being melted from getting destroyed by a 100% chance or depending on how many charms being used.

BP can keep the current melting system which destroys the item, but what I am trying to say is for them to offer an option for it NOT to get destroyed either by selling a premium item for that matter or just pay with andermant directly for that feature on the Melting window. Of course it's only for people who can afford to pay for it so it's not for everyone, but at least the option is there so that if you are really desperate to keep a certain item and just take out it's upgrade Glyphs then you can do so but you have to shell out Andermant.

Fantastic idea. Also upgrading items should be cheaper for like 10% of the current upgrading values. I mean common 54 million glyphs to level up an item from 45 to 50? what the hell!
