    Ola,

As the time goes by, I thought people would figure out the proper usage of Mind control with Astral talent... I've been wrong before :p

So, I have decided to try making some tips for using Astral talent.. of course, this is probably not final since I may have forgotten a few things.. :D

If you have 100 mana, most efficient way to use it is double singularity - casting one, and when it's finished casting another one. When thinking about Astral/fire guardian talent, don't mind having 100 mana, it's useful even so, choose Astral!

(Note; if you happen to have 140 mana from Grimmag robes/Starlight, 3rd singularity does NOT work even though it activates cool down. I have cried to support about it, they said it's supposed to be like that - having 2 singularities, and 3rd one "doesn't really exist". Noup, makes no sense to me either, specially since other skills you can use 3 times.. :p )

    Now about monsters.
If you face a group of monsters where Nefertati is doing his thing, do NOT put mind control on him - that annoys all the other members of your group (specially tanks who jump to Nefertati to kill it) and results in bad words in chat since everybody tries to kill Nefertati first so he wouldn't raise dead monsters. Same goes for deers in q4 as they call new dogs and need to be killed first.
If you face a group of 3-5 monsters (one of those not being bug in m2) don't waste mind control on those; group will kill those monsters much faster than 8 seconds and will have to wait for that controlled monster, which will result in bad words in chat :p If one of those is bug, use mc on some regular monster (soul perhaps) and cast singularity under bug.
If you face a group of monsters in q6m2 with 1-2 bugs around, do NOT put mind control on bugs - same as Nefertati up, everyone attacks the bugs first, tanks jump on them and if you put mind control on them guess which result you'll get :) On the other hand, if you face 3 or more bugs, feel free to put mind control on one of those, the one that is far away, that's useful, they do a lot of damage under mc and will help you killing those other bugs.
If you are killing Mortis, on the first Skeledragon, don't put mind control if there are 2-3 knights out, this results in bad words in chat. Do it when there are 4-5, specially if you're the only mage. If you have a chance, put one singularity under Skeledragon to help tank killing knights around him, he will appreciate it. :)

I probably forgot some things, so feel free to add up. Hopefully this will help .. anyone.. xD I got an urge to write this since those random MC people annoy me :p

    Thank you for attention!

I do exactly that so often lately, mind controlling a monster somebody decided to kill while two priests just a jump away are attacking the group. I don't let MC go to waste, use it to cast a free singularity on the bugs 8)

are u kidding ! mind control is the first thing I do when I see bugs in HoD, that's the only monster that can actually kill others under mind control. Let them kill each other off. Then u can get back to the bug. Just don't use it close to the DK boss as it will not drop anything still unfortunately. You just have to tell the group that's about it.

Owww, come on! Using MC on the on the bug when there is only one is some of the most annoying things a mage can do!
Wait to use MC on a bug until there is 2 and cast hole on the other so the gruop can kill it quick while the other bug doesn´t mess things up.
And another things about the knights, use MC and a hole on the knight, but DO NOT cast one more hole right after the first ended, give the DK 3-4 sec to have head ready again instad of wasting the hole with no head from the DK.

@Sewyew Players like you are the reason I wrote this little "guide". There is nothing more annoying than that smart mage who runs to put MC on the only bug around since bug is the first thing you wanna get rid of there. xD Listen to Hartvig, he knows obviously :D

lol your guide needs another guide. Ppl play the way it suits them. don't forget it's a game

All this just to clear HoD? Come on man it's not that hard

Yes people play the way it suits them. If MC is the way it suits them they can make group of 5 mages constantly spamming MC. In most of the groups other classes don't like SW's MC. Unlike SW's, rangers and DK's have to use their concentration/rage wisely and spending it on controlled monster pisses them off. So you will probably get warning ... and next is kick out of the group.

Playing the way it suits you is completely fine. Unless it makes other people swear at you or being silently annoyed (the polite ones xD) - then you must be doing something wrong. It is a game, but if there's best way of doing something it's easier to do it that way. :p
+ what Tralalaki said. In groups I've met you'd be kicked within 5mins xD Imagine if you were a tank/ranger, you spend all your rage/contr. for nothing.. = kick the mage xD

you guys just drain the fun out of everything. what is amusing in this game anymore han watching the monster kill each other. The event's are lame , pvp is always same ppl all the time you gotta have fun some way. fyi it's quite effective a ctually you just have to be in a group that actually know what you are doing

Sewyew, you adorable little player.. it's not about fun. Your "fun" ruins it for others. If your find it funny to ruin it for others than I have no nice comments.

I love duo'ing Map2 with a particular SW. He and I have been playing together so long that we know how each other works. He is an expert on using MC to the benefit of the entire group and knows not to MC a loan bug. (Seeing a recurring theme here? DKs don't want MC on a single bug.) You can play however you want, it is your right. However, don't be surprised if every tank you run with gets fed up and won't join you in the future because they know you will be stupid and disrespectful of their wishes.

m2 definitely goes fastest in a group of two; one mage and one DK (or dwarf). Timing singularity and stun break well means that boss knights last shorter than the singularity (if both chars have decent damage).

I don't think you guys are actually reading what I wrote. I don't remember saying anything about using MC on a single bug, that defeats the whole purpose of it killing other monsters. AND as for the tank getting fed up, never needed one and probably never will either if you must know but for the spirit of playing together as an MMO there are quite a lot I do play with and get along just fine. Like I said before you just have to understand each others playstyle

MC is really a good skill, allowing so many strong combinations. But the mage just have to know how to use it. Not only in q6m2, but also in q1-q5 and events.
And if the mage have upgraded mana, then it is a killer-skill(i have a a friend crushing everything with 3*meteor).

Yup. One of the best things to do with this skill... Meteor + tp + meteor + meteor :p

I've seen some people doing that in 1v1, at the moment you're like "HOW MANY MAGES HERE?!!111!1?" :D

    Exactly my point here.
Astral talent is very, veeeeery useful. But people have to learn how to use the best of it. I've died so many times in pvp trying to get it right, I've spent much time in pve trying to get it right (which was sometimes annoying to others, but since they knew I'm trying to learn the best way of using new skill, they somehow got over it  ), but once you get it right; specially with having extra mana, it's awesome - the things you can do in only 1 second :D

    err.....

How do you guys do that ?

MC, Meteor, TP, Meteor x2 (click very fast ) ??

  20. _Baragain_

    _Baragain_ Living Forum Legend

You only need to fit the Meteor, TP, Metor into the 1 second. Then you have as long as you want to cast the third.
