Daeda, Dragonknight, Level 22, Agathon Server
Any maps, but happens most often in PvP maps and in Silfmoor
Latest version of the game, 120-something as of April 26th 2014
    Thin Client Latest Version
Latest Java version 8, revision 5 from main Oracle website
    Windowed mode

In a PvP match, my opponent was completely invisible. Their attacks were visible but their player model was invisible. I've also noticed this on PvE maps like Silfmoor and other areas, though in that case only certain players would be invisible while I could see the rest.

I expected that players would load near-instantly or at least after a short delay, not being invisible!

The error doesn't seem like something I can reproduce on command. It seems to be a network latency issue on BigPoint's end regarding server stability/latency. I'm on FIOS (Fiber Optic internet) and on a computer/setup that greatly exceeds even the most intense PvP-centric battles that might slow things down or lag things on MY end. It isn't my end. Other games tested (games with reliable servers) have zero issues with latency or invisible anything.

There was no displayed error message.

Snapshots of the error would not be suitable for presenting this problem in a proper manner. It needs to be seen in video form. If the devs care to actually look into this, I'll run a recording program and get some actual footage they can use.

As always, any andermant for reporting bugs would be appreciated.

It's the servers, in short, they suck.

I found out a way to fix the "invisible player" lag, all you have to do is resize the client, and bring it back up, poof problem solved.

Granted this has worked for me every single time I've encountered an invisible player, it may or may not work for you, also just hope you are not in a 3v3, if so run to a safe spot and quickly do this.

They may want to implement a 'player outline' as a workaround or something until they can fix this.

Let us hope that BP is as 'gamer first' as they have promised us.

I play on the thin client so I would need to make it windowed (or play in windowed mode rather than full-screen windowed) during PvP matches to do this quick enough.

Funny thing is that even with an invisible enemy, I still won the match (on a DragonKnight no less!) so that was awesome; kinda like beating someone while you have a handicap function enabled in Street Fighter. :)

You can still hit them? I've never tried because I didn't see any hit markers, nor did I see their hp lower...Maybe I should try it out lol.

Well hopefully lowering your window will also fix the problem for you, like it fixes it for me.

You can kill invisible players *done that* xD However, here is a video about the graphical glitch! I am having this same issue in the arena, players and their skill animations aren't showing correctly.... Sometimes game doesn't launch and tells me the error:
    DRO Client

Failed to unpack downloaded file drakensangonline.exe Failed to open target file

@totallyfresh, @heycya, @-HARRA81- Thank you for providing the specifics to the invisible player bug, temporary solution and video. The issue has been passed on for investigation.

Open your Task Manager > select the Processes tab > find and close drakensangonline.exe

FYI, if the Drakensang Online 'thin client' didn't install by default to the 'Program Files' directory (with no way to change it) then you'd have far fewer technical issues to work through. There's a good reason that Microsoft restricted program access to that directory. We aren't living in 1994 anymore. Windows 95 is not the dominant operating system. Time to update your programming habits and stop using absolute (unchangeable) directory variables in your install routines.

Any coder worth their salt uses a relative directory instead of an absolute one. For example, instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\Drakensang Online (which is restricted), you can instead have it install to C:\Users\Public\Drakensang Online (and allow the end-user to change the directory!).

While you're working on this invisible player bug, you might wanna poke that along to your coder-monkeys at the same time, thanks.

In my case, I know my way around Win7 and was able to manually go in and change the registry keys to redirect towards where I install all my games (E:\Games\GameName\) instead of Program Files. The invisible player bug is a serverside-issue, likely due to dynamic downloading of assets (every time?) rather than preloading them via the thin-client download.

I've suggested having a 'generic character' avatar/outline in place prior to the loading of each player's custom clothing configuration. If the servers can't keep up, it doesn't make sense to punish the playerbase for it.

Finally a word from one of greatest sponsors of Dso in this theme. If you have lags(i believe that you have a great net connection and pc?) then imagine how it is for us.., pure mortals. I already said that game is more lagy with every new addon.

I do not think that is a problem graphic but reducing the download speed of the player with the server's Drakensang. I was trying to download the game client and the download speed is no more than 10kb/sec, I auditioned seconds after I download a game through Steam and lower speed reached was 70 times the download speed of the client Drakensang.
There's something very wrong with the server Drakensang, which is giving some players an extremely low speed.
Even wanted to play Drakensang but since I can not see the other players, as well quit.

Does Bigpoint is missing money to pay the bills and reduced something without telling the players? Because before one takes forever to get a promotion they now appear daily.
