PvP - please devs

Look, two years I have been banging on about this, and yes, there have been some changes, but PvP is still unfair. Not just unfair. Stupid. Ok, so maybe this only happens on Tegan, but hey, that's where I am. One player - and I've tried different times of the day and night and he is always there - dominates the arena. I mean, there is nothing anyone can do. This week, I have just played my 50th 5v5, and he was in most of them and every time he is in, he wins. Did I ever get on his side? Nope. Do I get to win any 5v5s? Nope.

Seriously, this is a joke, isn't it? Two years of promises and promises, and every new updates promises better balance, and it's all for EDIT.

 

It is not the balance you can't balance the money.

 

They should do a check to gear checking which include DPS, Base damage, and armor. And rank those people in the same group, centurion, recruit, it doesn't matter, as long as the system checks for a gear check.

HP doesn't matter.

 

No, you can't balance the money, but this whole ELO thing was supposed to balance things. So, if it is then why is it that I keep coming up against this guy battle after battle after battle, and he wins all of them, and I lose? How is this a "working ELO"? After a number of battles he should automatically be out of my league and not come up against me again for a while.
And even if he does. Then how is it fair, that since he beats me to a pulp round after round, I go home with maybe 200 fame points from a 5v5, and he goes home with 1500, battle after battle, which will only make him stronger and denies me any avenue to ever climb up the tree and match him.
How is that fair? Or duels... what a waste of time they are when the best I can hope for are 50 points, that is IF I get a hit in before they kill me in one shot and they keep getting victories and 350 points each time. At least give me some more points so I can catch up. And give them less, discourage them from playing cannon fodder. Why should they get the full amount of points for beating lower skilled players such as me?

Doesn't matter, I have been asking these questions for so long, and never get any answers... just more promises, more waffle, more "improved PvP balance" EDIT with each release.

At the end of the day, before I step into the arena I look at who is playing and 99 out of a 100 times I can tell you who will win the battle. THAT is why PvP the way it is does not work.

PvP was never fair, especially for F2P like myself, but through hard-work and dedication, I somehow managed to reach novice centurion at lvl 45, I only did it at the time because i needed the books.

You didn't mentioned your characters lvl, so i assume you're a lvl 45, so my advise to you is this...

1 - either keep on trying with your lvl 45 and hope for the best...
2 - try to invite the player that you mentioned to help you...
3 - or build a new character just for PvP since lvl 1 (i have)

I know that this isn't much help, but for the moment its probably your best option or simply stop PvP, like i have...I will only return when the dev team does something about fairness or create new mods for PvP or lvl 35 for knowledge tree, otherwise i won't be returning any day soon.

 

Well, there is that option.

But case-in-point, I've been on all night for about... hmmm.. 15 hours straight now, no idea how many battles I was in, and this guy was in all of my 5v5s and I lost all of them. But just then, he wasn't, and the battle was balanced, it was fun and we won 3:2 and only just. Even if we had lost 2:3, it would still have been way more fun than what we've had for the last 15 hours... 3 minute 0:3 battles over and over.

 

... and another update, and more promises about PvP and guess what... nothing's changed... 35 battles vs the same guy over and over and over and guess what... I lost every EDIT single one of them... great balancing. Really. ELO my EDIT.

 

If that happens all the time, may be don't register for battle for next round but wait for another, probably he will be in different battle by the time you get to another battle.

Go 3vs3 or 6vs6, 5vs5 is not the only pvp you can play!!

 

Well, this is Tegan... 6v6 is pretty much non-existent. But last night, 1v1 had one flagbearer dominating, 3v3 had a group of marshalls dominating, and 5v5 well... no chance...

... and this morning it's the same. 4am this morning was the same, rest of this weekend will be the same... matter-of-fact all the time will always be the same until they wake up and do something about it. Which they have promised. They just don't deliver.

I give you another example. Right now, this last battle, we did a 5v5 and there were two rangers in the other team (why they always have to be on the other team is another mystery to me, but that's how it is). Those two guys had an insane speed. My speed is 1.6 and I was slow to them. My armour gives me a 60% reduction on attacks, and they still one-shot me every time. I saw them take down people I know are much stronger than me in one shot. And I had them against me 3 times in a row. Guess who won those three battles?

Now, why do I have to go against those same people round after round? Wait it out? Sure, but with the population on Tegan, you have no choice. 1v1 and 3v3 are about the only battles where groups change.

 

Gonna give you some advice on this cause you should know by now that pvp right now is not fair. Im a lvl 45 ranger on tegan and i pvp often so i know what im talking about here. I'm gonna name some reasons why other people win and why you cant:
1. Guilds, there are many guilds that bring in the best of players to ensure that when they pvp together its a sure win, they have from ardents to field marshals.
2. Grouping, i need say no more.
3. You just need better equip, cause i've seen players with lower ranks that can handle high ranks
4. Strategy, whether you are a running sw, ranger, sm or dk, knowing when cool downs happen and when to attack is a big help, knowing is half the battle
5. Lastly, Timing, i consider myself a tough player, i've killed my share of flag bearers and marshal, but i do admit there are some too tough to beat, the very dedicated f2p or the rich p2p, so when i know someone is too tough to beat is pvping i turn to farming, make yourself stronger, you're gonna need to because no matter how strong you are, there is always someone better.
Tip: watch the language, mods might ban you, can see you much edits you have

 

all I want is a few points, and for PvP to be fairer. And I am not saying change the battles... if they want to promote rich players and let them pummel everyone, so be it... at least give me some credit for trying. 55 points, regardless if I lose to a Lv 45 Recruit or Marshall, regardless if I lose after 5 minutes or 10 seconds... where is the incentive here...? And the mods have banned me before.. carefactor is quite low... I've been here 3 years, harping the same tune :-( All I want are some points and fair PvP every now and again... that's what ELO was supposed to achieve.

You know. I've been on Drakensang for the last 24 hours straight... and in 24 hours I haven't had a single solitary battle where I was on the "favored" team. Every single battle I was up against the "favored" team. Why?

And more importantly, why are the devs such cowards that they NEVER respond to this? Not once, in three years have I ever gotten an answer from a developer. Not one. Sure, mods have replied --- but no devs. Why? What are they afraid of? hearing the truth?

And support? All I got is a "I'm a volunteer helper". Thank you, guys, I appreciate your time and your efforts, but nothing from the devs. Nothing at all. Zero. Zilch. Just about the same as my winning rate here...

Toshi, You are wasting your time unless you join a PVP Guild. Organized Guilds play by the numbers and win by staying disciplined. Unless your ready to whip out your wallet or join an organized Guild, you are going to continue to be frustrated. Nobody wants you to be frustrated. We want you to have fun. Get a buddy, make a commitment to each other for daily 1:1 grinding and this problem will evaporate.

 

Lol who says that pvp is not fear! But nvm I had a good laugh when I so this, so its like DesertKoala says just have fun. ToshiBoy the point of games is to have fun not to be frustrated . If you don't like it this way, you can just use real money to get stronger or you can just quit and find another game. And btw if you are f2p DSO will not mind you leaving .

Well, I'm not f2p, so I would mind leaving and if DesertKoala is right then why don't the devs come out and say "PvP is only for an elitist P2P group in guilds"?

because it's not. Apparently.

But hey, just spent the last 5 minutes in a 6v6 where the blue group just kept shooting the spawn point, and the red group didn't even get a chance to respawn... great balancing... same group that's been dominating for at least the last 6 hours, but hey... that's PvP balance in DSO.

... and I don't want much... a few points now and again, and an answer from the devs as to why they allow groups (or guilds) to dominate the arena... because on Tegan it is 24 hours a day/7 days a week... I am an insomniac and I play at all hours of the day and night.

Please devs: Why can't you make PvP fair? Why is it that I need to go up against the same bunch of overbuffed highbred players and teams round after round after round? And why aren't at least the rewards adjusted accordingly?

And why devs, after three years, are you still too chicken to come out and talk to me about it? I mean, hey, I'm holding 11 premium accounts, for which I am paying you over $100/month. I buy gems, and gear for a lot of those accounts...

and you can't even send me a simple email to say: Hey, Toshiboy, EDIT. We want you to fail. We don't give a EDIT about you or any one else. We want these players and guilds to dominate the arena.

Just come out and say so.

Man chill. U see problem where there is none. The players that kick EDIT should in fact motivate u to push harder EDIT. On high lvls ou should know how much hp/dmg/crit/arm one should have so he/she could cope with high ranking players. Note that rank itself is not determinative fact although fame tree and wiz tree mean a lot they're not everything. I play arena quite a lot and my fame tree grows nicely but every once a while I stop for few weeks to farm and boost my stats. Also, better the gear and more melt on it better ur chances. Having premium helps A LOT but is no warrant. Trust me, just farm and use those players as a motivation and u will be there in no time

 

For the love of the Gods be quite already! EDIT and move on.

 

Oh, we are now moving to constructive criticism, are we? How about something gets done about this, then no one would be complaining. I'm hardly the only one.

 

Well, give up already. I've left long ago, but you know --- I did 4 weeks pretty much round the clock on Tegan, battle after battle unfair... and I was obsessed and wrote all the stats down... 580 duels, 568 lost. All around the clock, 24 hours a day... well minus an hour here or there where I slept, but other than that, EDIT again and again and again by the same overbuffed players.

And then I played my Lv 45 char on Heredur - similar stats to my Tegan toon - and lo and behold, 4 weeks, 642 duels, 310 wins. That's about half... so not complaining... Tegan is EDIT. And the devs don't give a EDIT about it. But I am not going to spend hundreds of dollars on a game where the devs don't even care.

 

No you are not the only one. You and Many others cry and call names because you feel you are entitled. Well I tell ya what. After 3 years of game play and a goodly amount of money, money because like xBox and PS I have fun, I should be able to dominate most if not all F2P that are not as skilled as myself. But it does not always happen because I have had power and abilitys Nerfed. The way i see it , no the way it is. This is a pay to win game. And if you don't pay you have no say. And with that I have no more retorts for this thread. Devs leave pvp alone what you have done to it so far has been fantastic and put the right toons against each other.(from what I have expereinced). Thank you. =)

 

It's not about entitlement. I spend a heap of money on this game as well. As a family we leave hundreds of dollars here every month. This is all about balance and the lack thereof.

And to be honest, looking at my chars ... I could spend a hundred $ on gems and it might give me another 20 damage or 60 armour... what's that going to achieve? Nothing.

It's about balance. About fairness. Anyway... it's people like you, who keep farming lower skilled players, who destroy this game and discourage people from playing. And the result is clear to see: hardly any new players enter the arena, because no one likes to be cannon fodder. I stuck with it for three years. Three years of promises from the mods that every new release had better balance and ELO and what not... Nothing from the devs. And no change.
