I know this has been suggested before, but I think it's time to bring it up again.

For those times when you just don't feel like talking, or when you just want to solo a dungeon/boss and not be bothered/distracted.

Having to explain to 10 or 12 of your fellow players why you don't feel like talking, or risk offending them or making them think you're angry with them, kind of defeats the whole idea of wanting to be left alone for a while.

Likewise, having to decline 30 blind invites per hour (usually from strangers), and then having to read their ridiculous outbursts (usually in a different language than your native tongue) toward you for not joining their "pitiful little band" kind of breaks the spirit of soloing.

I've played a multitude of MMORPG's in my roughly 20 years of online gaming. The vast majority have had a check-box for "log in anonymously/invisibly". I think it's time DSO gave this option serious consideration.

    Thanks,

    Sevasten

The only viable option i found to avoid others from inviting me, was creating a new character and never join groups or guilds.

I know, thats not what you're looking for, but in the meanwhile its the only option.
Add a poll (if you can) to see how many want this kind of option.

A poll is a good idea (edit: unfortunately, it looks like I can't add one after the thread is started?)

I've actually stayed grouped with my R.L. brother, who hardly ever plays, sometimes when I don't want to get the invites. The problem arises when I actually want to join a group, then the group breaks up, and I have to face the tide of blind invites again.

You know... I just thought of something. If you registered a new account on the same server as your main one, and had two computers, you could join your new character with your existing one into a group only when you don't want to be bothered with blind invites. I may have to resort to that if DSO provides no better option...

I really feel the same like you, I would also like an option like this, you have the times that you don't want to talk to anyone and that you just don't want to see any messages/invites/anything.

    I like this idea.

    +1!

If you could log in anonymously wouldnt that be good for botters? they could run their programs that noone could even know they are online???? o_O

You are maybe talking option that you can turn off chat and don't accept any invites and people who tries to invite or have private conversation would get message that "sorry, multi-sev doesnt want to be disturbed at the moment"

    Hi Piipero,

That is not what Multi-Sev is saying, you misunderstood him.
Multi-Sev wants an option, like here in the forum, to disable the "online status" of the buddy/guild list, and not to be invisible everywhere ingame.

We are only invisible to other players, but not to the Dev team, they keep a record of all your ingame actions for 14 days, meaning if you use bot anonymously the dev team still would know.

Yes, this is what I mean. "Hide online status", maybe, would be a better phrase for the option. Especially for those who don't speak English as their native tongue.

This would not affect what mods/devs/programmers can see you do (it would not affect the server logs of a players actions) and you could still see the player when they (for example) "physically" go to a city or into a wilderness area. This would simply make the (red/green) dot next to your name in all lists stay red instead of turning green when you are online.

It should also block you from receiving group invites, but not block whispers (or any form of chat). The sender of a whisper to such a player would receive the same generic message as when a person is offline. You should be able to reply to whispers, and send your own whispers, though. You should probably also have to turn this option off to join a group, or send a group invite, since it is sometimes convenient to tell whether a person in your group has disconnected by looking for the red/green dot next to their name.

Anyway, that's all I can think of on the subject.

Multi-Sev, thumbs up for your idea, I agree 100%.

It would really be an extremely usefull feature for all of us (or almost all:p)
I have also suggested a similar idea in my community, in order to have status situation, like "Online", "Offline", "buzy", "away", "Be right back", etc. My apologies if it is already writen, I couldn't find anything like this. Congratulations for your idea again, I really hope this feature will soon be inserted.

Thanks, I like your additional suggestions as well! "Be Right Back", "Busy", "Away"; those would be great additions to the red and green dot :)

Yup, I was writing about this in the old forum, this would be nice, I don't like being afk and coming back to find all chat - why are you ignoring meeeeeeeee.. :D

Exactly. It would be nice, in the situation you described, to have an explanation come back to them automatically. This should not be very hard to do. In the current set-up, when someone tries to whisper someone else who is offline, an automated message is generated ("unknown user name", I think). If you had your status set to "AFK", for instance, and someone tried to whisper you they would see "This user's status is set to AFK and they may not reply". Pretty simple.

I actually like Jorane4's suggestion a little better than my original idea. All you would need would be three to five status conditions, and the corresponding three to five automated return messages. Then, possibly, an automatic decline function on group invites while using the "Busy" and/or "Offline" statuses. Some system like that would seem to fulfill all the requirements.

[Edit: Oh, and a "Decline guild invites automatically" check-box would be a good addition to the system too, I think.]

From all the options given here, I prefer the "off-line" status, for several reasons...
...no whispers, no inv to group/guild, etc...

But, if we can customize our "off-line" status, then here are a few more options to avoid others...:D

"I have a headache:rolleyes:" (women use it all the time:D)

    "Zzzzz:("

    "WC:eek:"

"Its that time of the month, sorry:oops:" (women only:D:D)

    "I'm with my..cof..cof.."

"Shuuu, you will wake up the baby;)"

"This is not a HOTLINE, broo_O"

    "M.I.A."

    hahaha Bearer! :D
I know for sure I wouldn't be using first one  Third one I'd rename to EDIT (ask anyone I play with, they will confirm xD also, I hope it's not for censure, sorry mods) and fourth one, would be more like "I have a gun and it's THAT time, did you have something to say???" :D

We speak English here, and only reason that is censured is because it is non English word. :)
