Wow! That really bites! But you see what I'm talking about. Now all the Marshals from "certain" guilds are teaming up and ruining 5v5 for all others who would like to participate. All in the name of "making their guild stronger" I say BS its pure and simple farming of other players! Where is the real "honor" in that.

I don't see any problem. And if there is, I don't see what admins got to do with it.

    easy solution :
groups fight groups - random groups fight random groups. It's your choice to pick one. Same for 3v3 and 6v6 ... ... and yes, also for 1v1 :)

Tegan sucks for PvP. You got the big players (see your pic) and they just milk the arena round after round with no chance for anyone to come up through the ranks. I mean you go into 5v5, and someone like EDIT are in it, and you know the other team is going to be dead. No point in playing. Absolutely no point.

I would somehow just make a lv45 Ardent Recruit with bases damage 1895 - 2010 then enter arena to beat the crab out of those bullies.

Look it's real easy. It's about money. Always has been, always will be. (And who can blame them...devs gotta eat too.) Sure they could balance things out, but then, the fear is, they'll loose the big money players who spend lots of dough to super uber their characters out. You want changes then you have to appeal to the money side of things.

With that said; something for the devs, (If they actually do read this....as if.), to ponder on. For every big money player who keeps their character at level 7 while spendin' their loot buyin' up andermant to level their weapons and armor up to 30+++ and fillin' them with polished gems up the waazoo, you're loosing 100+ potential premium account players who quit, or at the very least won't pay the premium account cost, because they can't have a decent fair fight in the arena.

One guy spendin'...oh I don't know what the average is for the money players....let's say $300 US. a month Vs 100 people payin' $13.00 US a month. Hmmmmm, $300 vs $1,300. Sounds to me like these guys, (The devs), are loosin' a truck load.

The problem with your scenario is that your numbers are fictitious. They have the real numbers for who quits, who stays, who buys premium, etc. They have the real statistics. If they were hemorrhaging profits the way you described they would have balanced the system ages ago.

Multi-Sev, you are right. The numbers are there. Here are some fun numbers to chomp on from off of Tegan.

    There are currently:
57,120 active PVP players of which
    94 are Flag Bearers
    70 are Marshalls and
    11 are Field Marshalls

Yep, lots of pain from a mere 81 players. It's real fun when you cross tab this list with the XP level. Not to worry, help is on the way.

To true brother. But one must take into account that their numbers are scewed. The game started off as a money grab from the get go, so they don't really know how much they could be makin', or lossin' for that matter by appealin' to the lager middle to lower classes.

What I do have goin' for me though is logic. Governments have never made it on the backs of the few rich people. Go ahead and tax them 50%, 70%, etc. It's a drop in the bucket. Where the money is, and has always been, is with the masses. The owner(s) of Saks 5th Av. makes a pretty penney, but he's not on the Forbes 500 list, and yet the owners of Wal-Mart are not only there but have two people in the top ten.

Appealin' to the masses my brother; that's where your true fortune lies.

I can go along with that! If they can get a lot of people to pay $13 a month, it would offset the loss of a few big-time spenders. But it would have to be A LOT of people buying premium. I don't know if one big-time p2w spender really drives away 100 potential premium users.

    -------------------------------

    Here's the devil's advocate scenario:
Each major ($300/month) p2w player drives 40 total f2p players to quit the game, of whom 10 would have left in a month or two anyway (found a new game, got bored, etc) and 10 more would have stayed in the game, but only as totally f2p. So it may be more like 20 ($260/month) potential premium members driven away by each major p2w player, in which case it would benefit BP more to keep the big-time p2w players happy.

    ------------------------------

I don't know which scenario is closer to reality. Could be yours, could be the devil's :D
I do know PvP is very difficult for newer f2p players. I'm an old vet, and I spent a little money (<$250 total) back in the open beta days, so I do OK in PvP. The truth is that it's having played so long, not the couple hundred I spent, that makes the difference. I've had time to ID a lot of legendaries, craft several medium-level (and one or two higher-level) gems, make a lot of Draken (and spend some of it on Dark Armor) and find a few uniques (like the whole Keen's set). I don't envy the new level 40-45s in PvP at all, though. It is very rough in there.

The team is probably working on something to make it a little more balanced. When that might happen, and what degree of success it will be, is anyone's guess. I'm not getting my hopes too high, considering the ineptitude displayed in tracking down and fixing this positioning bug... if it is ineptitude and not just another insidious, immoral money-grab tactic.

Well I pretty much agree with you. Any direction one goes in in business carries a certain amount of risk. Personally I think if they started in the direction I'm talking about I think they would have made more in the long run, but as it is now I don't think they should do a 180 and go in the direction I'm talking about at all. To late for that. They are what they are so best to accept that and move forward.

In any case what this is about is balancing pvp play. The problem isn't whether or not someone has ubered (Is that a word?) out their character or not, but how people with different levels of characters can be paired with those people whose characters match up more evenly. I think I've come upon something that could work. (Whether they do it or not is an entirely different matter.) I'd like to bounce it off you and anyone else who gives a hoot and you can tell me whether it sounds good or if it's just doo doo.

It's a point system based on many factors.

    Character level = 2 points
Ancient Knowledge level = 1 point
    Fame level = 1 point
    Average armor/weapon level = 2 points
(Thinking about adding a gem level here but not sure how to work it out.)

Based on a characters point total would be how players could be matched up in the arena. For example, say a character is a true level 10. Meaning Character level, AK, Fame, and average armor/weapon are all 10th level. So this character would have 60 points. So when the computer is trying to match him up with an opponent it looks for others with 60 points. Of course things being what they are there would be a +/- 10 point swing either way. So this character would be matched up with anyone between 50 and 70 points. So it wouldn't matter if someone hypes up their character or if they just grind it out, your matches will always be with those around your same skill level despite their title or character level or whatever.

But then again maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about. (If you get to know me better you'll get used to that.....lol.) Anyway, please people let me know what you think and keep coming up with alternatives, who knows maybe one of them will work.
