Just messing around with a 2h sword that I got with over 1.7k crit,

The rest of the stats were awful, but that number just made me laugh. If I were willing to waste gold to move some gems from my gem holders, I probably could have gotten it up to 7600-7700

    EDIT:
The thing is that seeing that I was able to do this, there are some people out there that should be able to break 8K... I mean, My amulet didn't even have any crit for crying out loud and the ring and belt only had 150 a piece.

  2. Please be careful how you use the quote button. I think you quoted his post twice and deleted both of the opening QUOTE boxes making quite a messy post. I cleaned it up, but for the future... ;)

HAHAHA!!! So, I had some glyphs saved for some other gear, but since I plan on melting this sword, I upgraded it to 45 and tried again... I hit the cap of 80%!

Sooooooo close to 8k, but I'm a tightwad who can't be parted from his gold unless it is for a good reason. From time to time, it is just fun to see how ridiculously high we can push some stats. I wish I could get the new set with 50% HP, so I could try to build a 20K HP build, but that is not in the cards for me.:(

One of the things you will want to get is a good shield. You will want to find a shield with block rate % and block amount % enchantments. Work on damage, attack speed, critical hit rate, armor and resistance as you can; but I think your blocking (shield) is the more immediately important item for a tank-type DK. (A decent Vargulf Round Shield, from a monthly Full Moon event, would be a good start until you can find a better legendary shield.)

It's probably better to just wait until you are level 43-45 to start thinking about end-game equipment. Probably the best advice I could give you is to do a lot of PvP now, to get your rank in PvP up, because if you try to do it later you will have a much worse time. The PvP skill tree items you gain also help you out in PvE a lot.

Some of the equipment sets, with their set-bonuses, will be able to help you considerably. I recommend browsing this page and then figuring out what to quest for from there. Excellent legendary items will often be better than some of the sets/bonuses, but excellent legendary items are extremely hard to find sometimes.

    Good luck!

Thank you Sev.I followed your advice and found out about many things I didn't know from the wiki. Only thing i didn't understand is how PVP skill tree is useful in PVE. Please tell me . And Thank U again.

You're quite welcome. As to your additional question, any of the PvP skills you see on the tree that do not directly refer to "players" or "in the arena" (or similar descriptors) will also function in PvE areas and against non-player mobs.

For example: A 4-second immunity to stuns, after being stunned one time - that one definitely carries over to PvE. Also, the "Supernatural Regeneration" skill from the PvP tree triggers whenever your health drops below 33%, whether you are in PvP combat or PvE areas. I think some of the other ones do as well (any of them that do not specify PvP, arena, other player, etc.).

    HTH.

Another shield that is an excellent choice while on the hunt for the "perfect" shield is the LVL 43 Merchant unique in Andrakasch (Steam Powered Shield). It is expensive (12800 ander), but well worth saving up for to buy during a 25% off sale (9600 ander) between now and when you hit LVL 43 (Many of the Andrakasch quests give good ander, so start saving now). It has 60%/60% and it is cheaper to upgrade than a legendary due to it being an "extraordinary" unique as opposed to a normal "legendary" unique. In fact, I see it in PvP from time to time on some high end players, probably because they can upgrade it to LVL 49-50 and make it better than a Vargulf shield at 47-48 (about the same amount of glyphs).

In fact, at LVL 45, that merchant unique is actually better defensive wise than a perfect Vargulf shield. A perfect Vargulf shield would have 150% increased block rate, which, according to the math I did for this thread, would have an effectiveness of 31.02% compared to the Steam Powered Shield's 32.34% at LVL 45... and as I mentioned above, it also costs significantly less glyphs to upgrade than the Vargulf Shield.

I agree with your logic on shield effectiveness. But, as stated, the merchant shield costs a big chunk of andermant for a (pretty sure the OP is) F2P player with (looks like) only one page of inventory and (probably) no high-tier gems.

A Vargulf shield can be found and ID'd for zero andermant and just a short amount of time invested (if drop-luck is on the player's side). A lot more time would be involved in farming 12.8K/9.6K andermant, I think, for the average F2P player. That andermant could also be invested in sapphires or rubies, or a bigger inventory, which would have no chance of becoming obsolete in the future. Either shield in question has the chance of becoming obsolete if/when a better one is found. Melting a Vargulf shield in the future would be less painful than melting a 10K-13K andermant merchant shield. I'm looking at the situation from a strictly "budgeted" F2P point of view.

If the merchant shield is desired, though, then while saving up to buy the better merchant shield a Vargulf shield could be quested for as a stop-gap. It would definitely provide a much higher block rate than the OP's current shield.

Which brings up a good point. roto911 I don't know what you've been spending ander on, but unless it is inventory space or gems (or a merchant unique that will serve you for a long time), chances are you are spending it on stuff you don't need because it will not last. Just a friendly bit of advice. Essence, 120/40 ander revives in normal maps, crafting... all not good uses of ander for a F2P. I would warn against gambling too as a F2P, but it is more iffy.

What is your gem and gem slot situation? I prefer to get armor from gear and resist from gems, and hp from both gear and gems.

You need to fill your slots with at least 12 +40 resistance gems (which would boost your resistance by 480). And probably should consider 16 +60s (960 resistance).

    I think I have 14~16 60s on my DK.

You need to farm gems and anders, ideally in the PWs or Map1/2. During gem sales you'll spend the accumulated anders on gems.
