    Greetings Heroes,

As announced and explained here, we would like to hear your opinion about a planned feature: Language Based Chat Rooms.

Please choose 2 answers : one option between A and B, and one from 1 and 2.
    Best regards,

In all, I think this is a minimally useful feature and poor use of developer time. You should focus on elements of the game that unify the community, not ones that make it more divisive. There are many other priorities I think would be a more useful time investment. Enhancing the mouse pointer is a personal drum I beat when I can:D.

If you must go forward because it's someone's pet project: I'm hoping that this acts as a filter and you would be able to select more than one button at a time to see languages you want and filter out others. But, even this becomes a problem when you are looking for a group. The group search feature is not refined enough to be completely useful yet, and a method of looking for group members has become universal in the game. So if I am looing for a pick-up group for an event for example, every language broadcasts it the same way, Event 3/5 level 45(or similar), and blocking a language I don't speak may deny me the information that a group is forming.

How about the dev's take a long hard look at the many things players are begging for and devote just a tad bit of effort to one or more of those things ....

Couldn't agree more with that point. For the larger servers, I can see the benefit perhaps. But for those with lower populations, it's only going to encourage further segregation and individual isolation.

It would be nice for new players to be able to chat with their own languages. I think the the group finder could be used more to find a group but wonder if you can see the chat room they are in.

I think if people are not talking 8 one room you can check others and talk there but idk seems like more of a filter.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUGGESTION: The international channel will show all rooms just like it does now!!!

What BP is doing there is a mistake, it's well know that games do teach english mostly, do not restrict this pro !
Don't make the chats dead, dont split the comunity, it's better when we are all together.
Do not waste time programming unneccesery and harmfull system, becouse it will hurt the community as a whole.

I understand the frustration of those that aren't multi-lingual and haven't figured out Google Translate. However, the world is getting smaller and smaller. Seriously! Learn some common phrases in someone else's language! Chat rooms are just a replacements for language-based guilds. I don't think DSO needs to focus its development energies on this but instead on some of the other more pressing issues (lag resolutions, mouse cursors being visible, empty shabby chests that aren't, development of new content, etc.)

PS. as a chat moderator from online communities from the past (don't ask!), these chat rooms will just fill up with a bunch of people chanting "Noobs!" at whomever they feel like trying to insult. This will either require "police" to keep the chat clean (and somewhat boring) or leave them to their own devices where the wild childs will run rampant and make the chat room unusable to most.

Just want to say national flags are not languages. Don't use national flags as symbols of languages. Stay away political issues. Try to see ISO standard of languages. That would be better.
And players could choose multi languages tags that they can read/write to show in player or group list if no privacy problem.
As for language based chat rooms, I have no comment. I see many Tegan players read/write their own language in ABC but not English. :)

I think that this feature will be usefull to the full extend of unite players not the opposite. When you go to event or any other boss and someone reseting it you try speak to him(what are you doing there man, dont reset the boss again noooooo not again, stop it,dont cross that line)and the answer is (EDIT).If the players that cant speak english go to seperate room chats and communicate better together than other players then this feature is for the best.If you cant speak russian,greece,arabian... and go on.It's better if you can't see them...The communication it will be better that ever!!!
Answer :I prefer to play with players with diff languages but with some kind of communication.Let's say some singnals like lol.
I have problem to see many diff languages in chat if you dont know a languange what's the point

P.s..If the community doesn't accept it and keep this chats to zero use the devs can't keep them there(my guess).Better test them and see how it will go.The global chat must be in english

As a native English speaker, who can only speak English, I wouldn't want any feature that excludes me from being able to chat with players from other countries. There aren't many people from the UK playing Drakensang, so most of my friends are from other countries, who can use English.

I would much prefer the developers to spend their time on bringing the community closer together by helping players who don't speak the same language to communicate, albeit in a basic way, with each other.

A great example of this was the communication system used by Phantasy Star Online (an old Sega Dreamcast game, developed by SonicTeam). I used to play that A LOT!
This used a limited phrasebook, allowing sentences to be constructed through a hierarchy of menus. Once complete, a sentence is automatically translated into the configured language of other nearby players, thus bridging the language gap.

An additional suggestion would be to display what languages a player speaks* next to their name, when your cursor hovers over them. That way we can all easily identify who we can and can't communicate with. The option for a player to turn this off for their character should also be included.

    * your would define what languages you can speak when creating, or modifying a character.

Acctually I find this as a good idea, on a grimmag server that is a massive problem there is one english sentence on every 60 russian and 5 pl shouts so it would be very nice if that could get filtered. Even those who speak english there mostly use their native language.

And they feel free insulting on their native language cause you can't understand them.

    just click 2 lol
instead of filter,,Translater is better, trans's all language to your language.
us usa english speaking players need to see groupo and evento +2 people. or gliphos +2 map2.
with a filter we will not see that.
chit can the idea, and lets get some goodies.like opening gem slots in gear using gold instead anderments!! please with sugar on top, maybe some sprinkles.:D:D:D:D:D
oh could you make the chat tabs so we can drag a separate window, say to any where on the screen a resizing arrows so its not too big or too small, like to have just a group and guild chat open when im running in groups, and see any chatting going on,,thanks,,prob not worded proper but i hope u get it.

Silly idea, a waste of time and resources on the part of BP. I always have google translate open and although it may take me a few minutes to type info in and on to the screen again the message gets through.
If you want to do something then do as I suggested in the past and allow users to fly their country of origin flag above the toon where the premium crown would be.

I also use google translate also to communicate, and it's fine if you're sitting in the Urban areas or the atriums. But it becomes a PITA when you need to do that while on the move in a map. Many many times I've had non-english speakers specifically address me while we're grouped and then I have minimize and have 2 windows up in order to translate and reply AND continue to keep up with the group. Next point, using google is fine if speaking to someone one-on-one, but you're locked out of the conversation if its a group discussion (unless you're somehow super fast at translating everyone's chat and adding your input).

As someone said above, I also believe a language based chat would be minimally useful, though I would use it. What would be extremely beneficial would be an in-game translator. It would not be perfect since most people shorten words, use abbreviations, etc which may throw off the translator. But overall a translator would be a great feature.

Personally, I'm not bothered by the many languages spoken...but it does create a barrier and sometimes (not often) difficulties. It would be more useful to incorporate a feature that bridges that barrier. Honestly (especially when I first started playing) not being able to communicate was off-putting and a number of times I considered quitting and finding something else (reading the forums I was not the only one). But I liked this game so I told myself then I'll just play alone and find another game that has a 'real' US server and I could group.

So yeah, my suggestion is adding in-game translator feature.

what will happen is most players will be in their native langauge chat room. this will separate the community from each other.
If players want to chat their own language with each other they do that allready in private chat or in guild chat.
But if BP must have this language based chat rooms please make it so that you can switch chatrooms without having to log out and login again.
I play on herdur and i see all players chat in one chatroom to make groups etc Even a sort of own language is being used. ( m2 inv pls 45 war ). And if players want in depth chat they use whisper
If BP wants players to have better and easier communication then they should start buy calling ingame spec words the same Why isnt it called andermant in all languages for example.
And if this happens you need mods to police the whole scene because players will use other languages in specific language chatrooms. for every language chatroom about 5 or so mods and BP pays these mods in ingame currency (ander) So then you will have about 150 players getting free amounts of ander and over time these players become stronger then other players and start to dominate the game. Have seen this all before in another BP game. Just saying

Ingame translator = *thumbs up*. I like playing with people whose backgrounds, perspectives and/or priorities are different from my own; you get to see a problem or situation from many angles...that is, if I could understand what they're saying.

Language translators are great, until slang and poor spelling and bad grammar come in.
