That low level ardent KOTO is a twink.

Really think that pvp level (and thus, access to pvp talents) should be capped at your experience level

hehehe koala xd thanks for your reply.
    1) my guy is the legionnaire, not the novice centurion. :p .there was another ardent legionnaire on our team but he/she quit during the match(cant blame him either). but yes got your point.
    2) My point was solely that, these things do happen . i've heard of centurion against koto or legionnaire against a centurion, but this was new .(not the "guy is a lvl 19 ardent koto" part but the "extremely unfair match making" part).
heredur has always been known to give heart attacks hehehehe.

One last note that is really worth remembering given the way the match making system works today; Centurion is the 'magic' level. It can, and will, match against any level. If you are a Centurion, you can theoretically be matched to a Field Marshal if one is registered for battle.

    Excelllent points!

It's amazing how many other strategies are available, once you let go of the ones that do not work. And please note, some matches have favorites, or slight favorites going in; DSO knows the match could be lopsided. They are still good for getting points and bonuses.

I personally avoided PvP until after level 40, because I thought daily challenges did not include team kills. Garbage in, garbage out, just like programming!
That was over 6.5KK Honor Points ago, and with no mentor bonus. Now I try to maintain a relative position on the leader boards, or to advance in small steps, catching up to 1 or 2 players. If you put your goals in manageable units, progress is a lot easier. Epiphanies are welcome.

    Go get 'em!

Point is, if the developers would pull their finger out of their backsides, they could fix this, and then it would end the frustration for all of the commenters above. Just because you CAN do this, doesn't mean you should be expected to have to do that day after day after day. It's a game after all, not a job. There are many casual players who just pass through and give up, many seasoned players that have spent countless hours trying to get there, and then gave. The thing is... those people will never come back. Why would they?

What am I trying to say... look at a game like... say... EDIT. Sure, there are frustrating moments in those games, but at the end of the day, when you have gone to the end of the game or are grinding hours in multiplayer, you cannot wait for the next game in the series, because there is satisfaction in playing the game, gratification.

DSO is a great game (which is why fools like you and me are still playing it after all this time), but PvP is an absolute mess. No one comes back for PvP. There is little reward, little satisfaction, unless you spend some serious money or time. So, there is no hope of a sequel, no hope of a nicer feature. 4 years, and PvP is the worst it's ever been.

Sure, you CAN do this. One of my toons is about to go Flagbearer after years of grinding. Question is: if you want to retain new players... why would you expect them to do this..?

I disagree that PvP is an absolute mess.

First of all, I am having fun, and that means something. May be not for everyone, but having fun is most I care.
Fame points, winnings, position in ladder are all secondary things.
Not that I dislike them. I do like all of that, but they are all secondary to fun.

PvP needs balancing of course. But, I do think that BigPoint is doing a pretty good job at that.
Unlike 4-5 months ago where my level 41 Legionnaire would be the weak point in a 5v5 where everybody else is a field marshal, I have not even seen a Field Marshal in a PvP match that I have joined for the last 3 months.
They have certainly improved the PvP match making in a great deal.
Most of the time, if I join a 5v5 nowadays maxinum I would see is a Flag Bearer.
On Duels, it is pretty much somebody of my rank or otherwise if it is a higher rank player, they are of lower level than me.
At late nights, when there are less people around, I still get unfair matches, but it is not that dissapointing as it used to be several months ago.

Well spotted ,indeed matching system works better but pvp is still mess cuz of healing potions
3v3 one of the fastest arena some time ago now ...2 dk armoured with jesters gems plus healing potions and skills and i can assure u 20 up to 30 min is not yours
Everyone is complaining about this , if not pots arena would be more enjoyable .
some say "oh well i have 1k of pots in my inventory " this might be true cuz i have 800 in mine
good excuse ... so 1st thing which came to my mind is CUT DOWN THE DROP RATE OF POTS and
    again ban potions in arena

Problem with banning pots is that i find them fairly useful in level 45 pvp and relatively useless in level 45 pve (i virtually never die except when i get hit by 3 or more bug bombs in map2 or lag out, and usually can't pot then, either). The 3598's are pretty useful for those rare times when i end up with the flag. They're extremely useful for surviving glass cannon suicide attackers that can't do anything more than kill flag runners.

As I've said previously, they removed % based ess from PvP, they ought to remove % based potions from PvP. On the other hand, they allow greens because they work the same for everyone. That means that they should keep allowing normal potions. If anything, they help SW's most because it is about 50%-75% of their HP, where as it may only be 25-40% of a DK's.

How about removing pots from duels (1 x 1 PVP)?

They already have a 1 min cool down. You can only use 2-3 in a match if you are lucky, and both can do that... more often than not, if I use a pot, they will to, so I need to time it right so that I can surprise them before they can use one. It takes a certain amount of strategy to use a pot knowing that your opponent will likely use one too... also, if you use one for the first fight, they will likely use it for the second. In duels, pots are a powerful weapon that needs to be used carefully. It is similarly helpful in 3v3, if used right. In 5v5 it can mean the difference between victory and defeat for a flag carrier, but other then them, it isn't a big deal. In 6v6 they are just little things that help in a pinch.

Potions should be removed altogether along with Buffs both gold and Andermant ones
You are talking about strategy ?
Why not make your toon as strong as you can then see what you need to improve from losses to other players ?
IMO if you Potion during a match you are cheating yourself
Each to there own though but I do have a good laugh when someone Pots and you kill them anyway
And yes I PVP and yes I have a high rank

I have a rather strong character but he is only a KotO. The time I need potions is when dealing those with DKs in 1v1 who have regen. Under those circumstances, potions actually make the match fair.

Maybe the pots should be removed from the game completely.
For an example I don't use them in PVE I use them in PVP ... but I rarely play the arena ... if they can't be used in the arena why bother collecting them from PVE.
In that case remove them completely.

    Keep the pots.
They give low fame players a chance not to be cannon fodder for the overpowered.
They give additional options for game play, that lead to more excitement in the arena.
They expand the skill set necessary to excel over opponents, increasing the challenge.

They apply to real world skills. Who wants a warrior that is not self maintaining, refuses first aid, and dies instead on the team?

I play this game about 3 years, i destroy my old character, now i make new and play again. And i saw, on my new character in arena nobody isn't from range close to me, always be flags, marshals, ardents, and that's not be earlier, admins make arena for payers, make easier way for him, and i have some picture. That's incredible bugs in this game.[IMG][/IMG] http://i61.tinypic.com/2hcg3sz.jpg

Could it have been because you were in a group and no one except you from your group joined the battle? Just a thought.

Balancing is an ongoing issue; DSO said they are still working on it, and more will be done on it.

There's another nuisance issue that's getting out of hand: players who don't do anything but take up space. They can go the full distance of the game timewise, they don't get kicked for not moving, but they don't engage anyone or anything. Their score is 0's across the board. Meanwhile the rest of their team is flogging a dead horse, trying to make progress.

Sometimes there are 2 players just standing by, doing nothing.
I wonder if they are ringers (guild saboteurs, the paranoid say), just hanging around to run up the score for the other team.

I understand that connection issues and real life take priority over the arena. Stuff happens.
Still, 0's across the score board should get the 15 minute ban on pvp.
