    Hello forum friends,

I just wanted to give my opinion and get some discussion going about the how events are run with the mini events...

I started playing from late last year and so played through the Christmas event and though I was just around lvl 20s managed to complete the event {with help of course :p}, however, this year since the advent of mini events I have not been able to successfully complete any event and I believe that this is largely due to the fact that time limited mini-events run alongside the main event.

This sort of event setup, firstly clash with real life commitments (work+school, etc) especially since I live in a time zone that is almost 24 hours ahead of the the server I play on. In addition, the mini events usually require alot of prep (farming for pots/entries/ess) b4 they start so they tend to shift focus off the main event quest line and need longer hours of play that again demand choosing btwn real life and gamplay :(o_O.

I remember there was some discussion on this topic when mini-events were first introduced and people had suggested that it is only adequate that those who play DSO (seemingly day and night:p) be rewared for their time with the rewards from mini event..Now I am all for these players to get their just rewards but please not at the expense of us casual gamers getting little to no completion of mini event or main event.

My suggestion would be to rethink the way events are run so that it does not make us choose between playing a game we enjoy and our real life commitments. Probably events could have a normal progress bar with the ability to activate a mini event at your convenience [Not sure if that is technically possible] or have some rewards on the main event prgress bar that disappear after a certain duration of time.

This would ensure that we can play and complete the main event and get some rewards while those who complete the event faster can get some additional rewards...

This is a pretty long winded exposé but hopefully if you guys feel that this current setup needs abit of tweaking to include casual gamers like me then leave a comment... :D:);)

The mini events are designed for people that have the main event gear. Once you have the gear you then can partake in the mini events due to the main event is useless to you. They wanted people to partisan ate so they invented the mini events. If your trying to do both main and mini event then time is your enemy and not DSO. Please just choose one to do.

And in the time that it took you to write this, you could have farmed another half an entrance into the hard map for the mini event.
    :p:DI'm just messing with you.:D:p

What MegaNuker said is spot on. You can't do it all unless you are a gamer with nothing but time on your hands. Pick one thing to focus on and that is what you should achieve. For example, do you need the warlord gear? Then you farm for entrances to Dragan. Do you already have that set and want the draken/new ring/onyx skulls/achievements. Then farm nothing but pearls so that you can get into the mini events.

As I recall, the minis were implemented, at least partially, in response to complaints that the events were too long. People were screaming through the events completing the progress bar in a few days and left with nothing to accomplish other than farming elements of the event that were available exclusively or more readily than in the regular maps of the game. In addition, with no doubt, the events raise participation rates. Participation raises profits. Many log in, do the event to completion and don't play or play minimally until the next event.

The mini's offer soulutions to these two issues. It would be nice if there was some flexibility that would address peoples real life conflicts that did not recreate the problems noted above. There of course needs to be sufficient time commited if you don't want to have to make the choices Baragain noted, but being able to elect when to commit that time within the event window would be very helpful.

Also a quick game comparison. There are other games that have "events." From what I have seen, they are usually isolated to weekends where they offer additional XP, PVP points, Raid content, and even temporary uber gear that is only for those two days. In that aspect, meeting the time needs of players is a challenge of all games and no one has a solution. Instead, they make the rewards for playing the event attractive so that those that are able prioritize the game over RL if they want the rewards.

Okay, quite sensible what you guys said :)....but I still feel that even if I had acquired the full set from Dragan then the timing of the mini-events would cause friction between RL and in-game commitments since the timing would still be conflicting with my schedule....

However, I note that BigPapa has seen similar situations in other games and no anwers, so I won't be holding my breath for BP to come up with a solution anytime soon....:cool:o_O

well i started the 4th mini event. i cleared the whole map and got -0- cursed candy! where is it?
i started a 2nd run in the mini event and still -0- candy dropping is there something i am missing here?

i had not enough time to farm the pearls to do the 2 previous mini's the drop rate of pearls was MUCH to low even on the hard map to get enough to do them. consider raising the drop rate to every 2nd or 3rd enemy to drop instead of every other mob.

the only way i finished the 1st mini was i had saved 1000 pearls from the previous event. there is no way i can spend the time to farm pearls and finish the mini events. as others have stated RL constrains my time here.

in my evaluation is this event is geared to those who have -0- things to do in real life they just play games all day.

Did you get the buff and kill the trees before they reached the well?

if the quest was clearly stated that's what i needed to do i did not see it.

i will focus on getting 10,000 cursed pearls for the next time this event is here, maby then i will be able to finish it.

it's most likely i would not use that ring anyway i would not like to break up my jewlery set from Gnob, so it would just sit in my inventory unused.

Yeah, its not very clear, but I actually kind of liked it, as old crpg's often had puzzles and sequences that took some thinking. Here's how it works - when you kick the bucket at the well, the poison lifts and 5 trees slowly march in to the well. You need to kill them before they reach the well, and killing them gets candy, but you need a buff to hit them.

To get the buff, you need to kill a red circle bosses around the periphery to get a blood and mix that blood in the cauldron just north of the well in the center of the map. That gives you a two minute buff to attack and hit the trees. There are 5 red circle bosses, so you can get 5 bloods that can be used each run.

Easiest way, in my opinion, is to essentially burn the first run clearing the map and stacking up on bloods (or kill less than all the trees) and then use the bloods onbthe next run.

So, run #1, get bloods. Run #2 onward, kill trees with previously acquired bloods, and restock on bloods after trees are kiled.

    Not clearly stated... lets see.
    So,
Step 1. Summon the trees (Poisonous Comfrey)
Step 1.5. If it is your first run or you don't have any Blood of the Forest from previous runs, kill a Corrupter to get one.
Step 2. Add the Blood of the Forest to the cauldron to get a buff.
Step 3. Use the buff to kill the trees before they get to the fountain and poison it.

From here, you do the little things that isn't in the description like picking up the 30 pearls from the pumpkin and collect enough Blood from the mini bosses so that you will be able to complete the next run.
