Very well rounded for a rookie mage. Keep making those incremental improvements and you will be good to go. I'm particularly impressed with your block stats on a SW and that you've managed to keep your crit that high with that block.

Fudge. Today I crafted a Large Archmage staff with 5000+ CHR, giving me over 63% in one fell swoop. Problem: my base damage drops by about 30%, crit damage drops 40%; thus, the DPI for this new staff is actually 3% lower than the old staff's DPI, and I can see the difference in actual use. I'm better off with the old staff, which gave me a CHR of only 17%, but had 151% crit dmg plus much higher base damage.

Thing is, if the new staff had given me just 100 more base dmg, the new DPI > old staff DPI.

Question: staff aside, what other gear gives (potentially) the most base damage? I don't wanna focus on gems cuz I already have the staff loaded with Flawless rubies and even 1 Sacred. I wanna focus on gear, so I'm figuring, farm for a good adornment crystal.

Any other ideas?

 

I think Codex's give pretty big enchantments on damage, but you lose out on the possibility of critical damage/critical hit rate. And of course you wouldn't be able to use a 2-H staff.

Other than that, yeah. Gems with % damage increases on your staff, gear set bonuses, and enchantments on your gear. Seems most of the left hand side items have similar max damage enchantments.

 

^ I figured there weren't too many options. Hopefully, the PRNG will smile mercifully upon me, and That Special Drop will occur.

 

Depending on your items, you might want a torso with % damage. The Untouchables one is a good way to start if you're not relying too much on drops... but even that one has to be farmed and crafted. GL!

Holy cowboy! that one handed staff is the best I have ever seen. That is like a dream wand.

 

Thanks gents, i farmed like a Donkey the past months and had little luck here and there.

 

I reckon you're focusing on just damage a little bit too much... that HP is way under acceptable (5k is considered borderline). Armor is nice and resistances are decent, though. Maybe mingle a bit with those, but especially armor, since you have more. HP is always better than armor. Speed is no problem if you use Ice Sphere, since that particular skill has no breakpoints. As for the staff... eh, the damage lines are OK, but the % ones are 1H-like. Still decent, but be on the lookout for better and keep working on those gems. Cheers!

Hmm, with 2H, I have about 15%... so can't advise much in that area. IDK... Witch/Darkness set... crit. on left-side items. Onyxes. It depends on what you already have (in terms of what can be replaced, what's underwhelming, etc.).
