That, or it might be that the developers actually find selling items for a HIGHER price completely unacceptable. Just look at the gold prices of uniques... :)

That makes a lot of sense, especially if people give up the old Warlord set for the new Dragan sets. That's why this system would be so good to have!

Not a lottery! :) Just a random trading system to prevent abuse and give everyone equal opportunity.

It definitely would help everyone! (But it should be for lvl 50 only to discourage twinking.) I can't think of how people would cheat with something like this though.

This is one of the better ideas I have seen over the years but it is still "trade" and therefore subject to abuse.

How? Well the first thing that popped into the sociopath path of my brain (which every person has) was a way to move draken from one toon to another. (;);), nudge nudge, say no more :D)

    Luck be with ye,

Yes ... one of the better ideas indeed. That is why I didn't say anything so far ... until that "abuse" part came. :D
Trading always has a loophole ... that is why many games that had trading in the past abandoned it completely.

Maybe adding a minimum to the number of bidders can fix this ? (e.g. no one wins if less than 5 lvl 50 players proposed an offer)

That's a good point, the primary way to prevent this would probably be to monitor same-IP trading, but given that this isn't foolproof, what if there were these rules too?
    • A maximum price on any item (like 10,000 drakens)
    • You can only trade with another person once (you cannot bid on an item from him again)
Other rules like lvl-50-only and same-class-only would probably help as well. Can you guys think of any way to improve these rules?

    That's a good one too!

Where all the bidders including the owner are my characters :D

IP address is not proving anything. 100 players can use same IP address but they are not the same person. On the other hand only the ISP can see the real location ... no one else can see it. In order to see the real IP address (location) you need a court warrant. The IP address BP is collecting is not a real IP address ... it is representing the last visible node but not the devices or nodes inside that node.
Not to mention VPN and proxy ... where you can change IP, geographical location, Browser and OS even the Device you are using.

And this is only a small fraction of the real issues that can occur during the process of trading.

Definitely; like I mentioned, IP-monitoring isn't foolproof, so I suggested these other rules:
