There is a news report of somebody driving along the motorway the wrong way. A concerned wife phone's her husband to warn him of the danger.
Wife: Be careful, some lunatic is driving the wrong way.
Husband: I know! there is freaking loads of them!

I know that attack speed is important for dwarfs. I used a damage calculator and experimented in gorga hard enough times to know how useful attack speed is. Yet i have met many dwarfs that keep telling me im driving the wrong way. There are obviously dwarfs reading this that are using damage gloves instead of attack speed ones. I ask them to experiment in gorga hard, counting how many total machine guns it takes to kill gorga, and then to tell me that im driving the wrong way after the experimentation.

I worked out that for my setup, 10% attack speed gloves + the old warlord set would be better than the new set, not taking into account the 105 total damage the set gives. You need 15% gloves if you want to take into account the 105 damage which doesnt sound right even to me, 5% attack speed is equivalent to 105 damage? You could potentially get 120 damage from boots to make up for this. The warlord set also provides defensive values and 30% extra steam.

Even if i dont have the warlord set, as long as i have fairly decent damage boots and helmet, attack speed gloves still beat the new set.

I should go back to gorga hard and experiment again to double check before posting this instead on relying on the experimentation i did a while back but oh well.

Experiment for yourselfs, maybe you find out that you have been playing inefficiently, or if im wrong, you can educate the other dwarfs that also share my opinion that attack speed is great.

There is a limited amount of attack speed you can get anyway, from gloves, from sapphires in your weapon adornment, 15/50 points from wisdom, and rage gems.

Atk spd is the direct mutiplier to machine gun, that means 10% spd in glove= 8.3%dmg output. generally, spd outweights pure dmg in glove.
But spd doesn't affect any other skill, so calculate it before making a conclusion

Hey. I think you already know everything im about to tell you, but will reply in case someone else doesnt. Attack speed also affects your regular primary attack, and mechanical turret. It does not affect tesla. However, only one tesla is allowed to damage in a group, so as dwarves we have to ask "who has the most damage? ok you do tesla". Other dwarfs should use mechanical turret as their third turret where possible. Maybe thats another reason why dwarfs concentrate on pure damage ignoring attack speed since they are lead to believe only damage is important.

Dwarfs either use tactical turrets to regenerate steam, or use quick shot. I ignore tactical turrets because quick shot also provides damage, and i also use the 25% extra attack speed i get from quick shot before i use 2 machine guns. I also dont like the play style of tactical turrets, I am able to generate enough steam using tactical turrets to deploy the maximum 8 turrets, but it costs me a lot of essence and frustrating to do.

2 tactical turrets, with the right build, can allow you to sustain 5 or 6 other turrets at the same time.

I typically drop 2 tactical turrets, then drop a tesla, 2 machine guns, 2 mechanical turrets and repeat that ad infinitum, with rockets and shrapnel shots as they come online. My teslas usually have the immunity talent, so I might drop a second tesla instead of a second mechanical turret if immunity is needed elsewhere, such as on an aggro dk.

Hey, thanks. I was convinced the way i was playing was better, but really all im doing is saving essence. Now that essence toggle is introduced i should start playing the way you play, but im not happy about taking skill points away from steam conductor. Im not p2p so cant switch skill points so quickly. I should try your method again and compare the essence usage and the kill times, but i will stay put. There is a visual bug that sometimes doesnt show what turrets you put down i think. If you were using 6 turrets this bug would be more frequent. It would be really relaxed if macros were allowed, but thats against BP rules.

Do you use +10 wisdom points in steam?

I use the +10 for steam points. I also use a logitech g10 gameboard quite frequently instead of a keyboard, and the essence toggle is one keys I use a bit - I mostly play on permanent green essence (I farm more than I use), but if I'm using a colored essence, I sometimes toggle the essences and drop tactical turrets with green essence and everything else with the colored essence.

I have a fairly robust connection - AC routers with the 5ghz line basically a dedicated line for laptop gaming, gigabit ethernet for desktop, 105 mbps internet connection with my ISP (comcast) so I rarely experience the lag and visual bugs everybody else gets hit with. If I'm getting the bugs, everybody else is usually getting them worse.
