Indeed. Seems the only way to market a Korean franchised version of this game was to include Auto-Play (bot) and Auto-Loot features.

These are not 3rd party cheats but BP coded game features.

The part that makes me sick is that thousands got permanently banned for using a 3rd party bot, and we were told that it was BP's position that it was cheating. Just read through RickTalrok's many posts in the bot thread. Buuuuutttttt... When BP realized that they needed a bot to be able to get their foot in the door with the Asian market, all their principals went out the window and they made a bot. Basically they said "Botting is cheating, unless we need to put it into the game ourselves to have a chance at a piece of a multi-billion dollar pie that is the Asian online gaming industry.

 

Quite hypocritical if you ask me. I've just not given it any thought since I first heard it was going to be implemented. I do remember the witch hunt on bots quite vividly, though.

 

It doesn't bug me, as long as they're on their own server and we can make fun of the practice and the players that play that way.

If it were my business I probably would have catered to the market. When in Rome and all of that. But I might have reskinned the game differently to prevent brand confusion.

 

It is called something different... Dragon•Rise.
