I can see it using Safari browser but in Chrome or accessing the Forum directly in DSOClient I cannot

 

I cannot see it either. Tried IE, Chrome & FF.

This is just ridiculous...
We would like to remember that this event is only for EN Forum active users (those ones who made 10 posts in the last 30 days).

Last I remember it was 5 posts.. now 10posts.... and how do you judge.. even 1 worded posts counts ?

Do rethink this as you are isolating more and more of the dwindling community...

 

Its actually not that hard there only a couple possibilities in my mind, I just have to go there to see if I can find that location.

 

Each language forum hosts its own language community competitions. The basic rules are there to discourage forum-hoppers who contribute nothing to a language forum and are simply seeking a hand-out. The purpose of the competition and the associated rewards is to encourage and reward active participation on the forum. If you are not content with the rules, don't participate. It is not compulsory.

 

I have one question. Out of the people that qualify and got the answer right, is the winner picked randomly or do some factors determine the winner?

 

I'm certain I know where it is. However, as I'm 12 hours past opening, the winner has already sent in the correct answer, and I'm in the middle of a system recovery and don't have email yet... basically I'm playing with a double helix circulating bore shaft.

 

In this particular case, is determined randomly, thanks for pointing it out, we'll be more careful on pointing out the mechanics to pick the winners for each contest.

For some reason, when I uploaded the contest, I could watch the picture.

Now, everything is working as intended.
Regarding your questions, let me explain them in a detailed way once I like transparency in everything.

• For your information, we extended the event for more 4 hours, once you could not see the picture. For that reason, you have until 12th june 00:00 CEST UTC +2 to send your guesses;
• That's not ridiculous at all:
  • As my colleague @Allogeneous explained, this kind of events are for EN Community players, active ones, that are fully involved in every discussion in our forum. Not for those ones who just come to participate in the contests - that still are a big number; How do I see it? I analyse every participant trough IP address and posts numbers and read them to make sure that they are not "one-word-post".
  • You should understand that there are two type of events, which have two different tasks to do, some that takes more time than others:
    • Creative events, last longer than guess/count events simply because it takes more time to produce/create a story or a text. For that reason, those ones have, normally, a smaller number of posts, exactly because they are not picked up randomly - but they are evaluated.
    • Guess/count events, they have a smaller prize, so they are more often, but don't last longer. As every winner is selected randomly (number generator), we need to make sure that who participates on this type of events is an active forum user, once the event is not harder to do.
