For the goblin, the best map that I've had is Loxley as you can force him into a corner and kill him that way. I didn't see him but a handful of time so it wasn't a huge problem for me.

The best way is to group up. I got very lucky last night and found a super helpful group that shaved many hours off the event for me.

One thing that I hope the mods suggest for the next time (if we get a next time) is auto pickup of the keys. When grouping the runs go so fast that if you aren't paying attention you can forget to pick it up.

I expressed my thoughts quite clearly. That I did not is your _opinion_.
Welcome to the real world. You don't get to dictate how people ask something. You must take what you get and work with it.
And if you thought I was so confusing, then why did you answer to begin with? (Please don't reply, it's a rhetorical.)

Oh, I thought that it was all three being handed out to different people... they didn't exactly make that very clear.

Was just farming keys in FBI and midway thru run noticed that my Hunters Fortune buff was missing. Since it was at 380% was not too happy. But had seen post of people loosing buff sometime when they zone so chalked it up to more bad luck. Finished rest of run and zoned to log off and cry in my beer. Gladly when I landed I noticed that the new Hunters Fortune buff had a 39 not 1.

So if this happens to you don't freak out just finish and hope.

Consider yourself fortunate... Most people this happens to lost the buff and have to rebuild it from scratch.

I've read this in several comments. My reality: 2+ hours in the great desert (Painful mode) I managed to get to 28 kills, but the drop of badges was still rather weak, in the 325-350 range near the end of my 2 hours, so I'd only accumulated 8,285 badges, or only the first two rewards (75 lock picks and 2,000 red essence). At my drop rates, I needed another 30-45 minutes to get to the first crappy chest, and 3 or so hours to get to the first Gem bag (Radiant).

5 hours of boredom waiting for the Boss to spawn, interrupted with intermittent moments frenzy, to only end up with a Radiant Gem with a 20% chance of being worthless to my Lvl 51 SM.

(Even at that, I might have gone for it, however, after lazily emptying my inventory in town, I only had about 5 minutes of the buff left, dashed back into the desert, to wind up with a random Champion mob spawning at the same time as Khepre; I couldn't handle them both using blue essence ... I guess I should have switched to purple or red essence, but wasn't expecting that 2nd Champion, so was playing green/blue.)

No, the Great Desert is not a viable alternative. If you can't already run Painful Parallel World, making meaningful progress in this event is impossible.

I still wish BP would promote events that helped weak / average players grow. I'm not asking for orders of magnitude leaps in ability, but something, >anything< to incentivize us to keep going.

I'm curious as to why you would choose Great Desert over FBI.

It seems to me that these reworked maps are a little easier than the PW (not a whole lot, but easier). Yes, this event does force newer/weaker players to team up to finish in a timely manner, but I see that as a good thing.

I've been suggesting that DSO do something to help the newer/weaker players for years in order to close the massive gap between them and true end game players (not dramatically but a little bit) and I think that this event is a great start.

I'm not saying that everyone can do this event solo, or that this event couldn't have had a very tiny bit of improvement, but overall this is the best event we've had in a long time. On top of that, it has the best rewards.

I agree with Ryhsingstar. I was very skeptical about this event in the beginning. However, after a couple of days, I realized that I could finish the event. I have actually completed the event on two of my characters already.

This event has kind of forced me to team up with random groups. Which, I was again skeptical in the beginning, but actually I really enjoyed the random groups. Except for a few bad groups, most of the groups that I got into did quite well. I could solo excruciating mode of Fox to get keys and bosses on painful difficulty, but I chose to play with the groups because that was much faster. In some of the groups I joined, there were people who have already completed the quest, but was helping their guild mates or friends and some of these people were really strong, like some of them could kill painful Balor in just a few seconds. I was watching them with awe and also happy that I got quest progress rapidly. :D

That s exactly how I felt. Since I had done everthing solo with my char up until lvl 47, i was doing the event solo at first. Doing FBI and a few solo herald and khalys runs, but it was too slow and the bosses took too much resources. After those 5 days I had gathered 200 k and 160 keys. So I decided to group with random players and that first day doing so, i got 270k progress and the next day i finished :D

I didn't think I'd finish this event, let alone finish it early. Normally I'm a race to the end kind of player, so finishing this was an awesome feeling.

Grouping is definitely the answer. Thanks to friends and guild mates, I was able to go from 224K to 1mil in about 16 hours of play.

I found that even when grouped with strangers, everyone was cooperative. I didn't see anyone wandering off to do their own thing in some other corner of a map or jumping into new instances before everyone was ready. I'm not sure what made this event different from others, but the sense of "team" was awesome.

I have to say though, I am REALLY glad I'm not living my online play time in 14 minute increments anymore! :p

Event is really good, I have been completed it for 2 days. I'm agree that keys collecting maybe is tiresome thing, but for it need only ~5-7 hours, when event is active almost 2 weeks. When I collected ~220 keys, I collected ~250 000 event's progress. After I fighted with Balor on Painful level, costed for this only 3-4 hours. In general, I think that ~8-12 hours for event with very good prizes isn't very large time. If we say about players with low power, they can find group and also easy complete event.

The problem is that more players like event prizes and would want to receive it, but don't want to cost time for complete "Big Game Hunt". As I think, rewards on this event are largest than had all game events, so, need make the appropriate efforts. If player want, he can quite cost for this event 2-3 hours per day, if player will do it, ~200-220 keys (and ~200 000 event progress) will be collected for 2-3 days. Also will need cost only few hours to fight with Asar/Balor and event will be finished.

My own opinion about this event: It's really good, of course, need cost enough time, but rewards is excellent too :)

    Cheers.

There are three things that could maybe be tweaked (should we be lucky enough to get this event again).

    1. FBI was the obvious map as it is short and could be done very fast either solo or in teams. The other option was to run Loxley and gain a little more points as well as a key(s).

The other maps were simply too long/complicated compared to those two. This should be equaled out in someway to provide more variety.

    2. The second thing that could be improved is boss runs as the amount of keys used were not equal to the progress for fighting bosses.

Almost everyone was farming keys in fatal mode (3 keys per run) then doing bosses in painful (1 key needed) as this was the easiest and fastest way to complete the event. There really was no incentive to kill bosses in harder modes (as far as progress).

    3. To a lesser extent, not all bosses drop the same amount of items (gear) as much as others, so they were obviously avoided because of this.

I hope that the dev's will build upon what they created with this event. The rewards were very, very good. The grind was tolerable for what we got, and it did encourage grouping. Those are things that most of us have been asking for.

The event for once was doable. i wish the normal monster hunt was this doable :p

    Pros.
    1) Grouping was promoted
    2) Exploring old maps in big difficulties (thats why you did this event)
    3) Good prizes with normal amount of grinding
    4) The event buffs and the community event that helped

    Cons.
    1) everyone that was doing the event was struggling with the buff in order to keep it and ignored all the other things i almost lost a clover because of that.
2)Some players lost their buffs without any warning (i have encountered something similar my self)
    3) Some bosses at fatal did not drop the same loot, for example Asar at fatal did not drop 3leg but Balor always dropped 3.

    Good job there developers :D

I did try FBI ... was able to clear the map, not as quickly as the more established players, but I did force the Boss to appear ... but it was the Greedy Goblin. As a newbie SM reliant chiefly on turrets and quick shot, I haven't figured out how to do enough damage to him in an open space before his timer runs out. In three total Painful regular map runs (one each in Cradle of Life, Loxley Caverns, and FBI), I encountered the Greedy Goblin twice. Yes that's a very small sample size, but too discouraging for me to proceed further. Hopefully other players fared better.

I have to work on this aspect of DSO. My main Tegan character was invited to a guild ... but no members were ever online.

My main Grimmag toon also accepted an invitation ... but I've never seen more than one member (other than myself) online at any time of day or night.

I am actively inviting players to group for daily farming, maybe something positive will come of that, eventually. It sucks only knowing English.

Again, I'm happy that you had this success, but your numbers are disconnected from the reality of newer players. I can maybe get through a map and boss on Painful (no way could I handle Excruciating, let alone Fatal) in 15 minutes = 4 keys per hour. To get your 220 keys would take me 55 hours. And then I'd still have to slog through all those Balor runs (I actually haven't tried him on Painful, yet) ... I can kill him in about a minute (plus reset time) on Normal using blue essence, but Painful? Hmmm. If you used up 220 keys in 4 hours, that's a fight+reset time of not much more than a minute. Let's be extremely generous and assume it will only take me 5 minutes to kill Balor and reset ... that's 18 hours, nonstop (and probably using up my very limited supply of purple/red essence). In reality, it would probably take much longer to kill him, as I'd have to be running away from his attacks most of the time (my current armor/resistance allows me to survive standing nearby, but usually with health potion or two; double his attack strength, and I'd be one-hit dust).

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

And, again, I'm not asking for the moon here. I don't want BP to mess up this event for you guys, I just want to remind you that your experience isn't the same as for the rest of us. Getting over that hump from newbie level-cap or near level-cap status to where you guys are feels impossible. BP can hope that enough new players will be willing to spend X hundreds/thousands of dollars to cross that barrier, or they can create other opportunities to make the task feel manageable (even if it involves a reasonable real-world price).

Yes, I completed each battle with Balor in 1 minute or lower time, using blue essences (my class is dwarf, damage is 22.5-25.5k without essences). I also understand that some players can't do it in this time by yourself, so they can find good group, equip blue essences and too kill Balor in short time. If imagine that player will kill Balor for ~2 minutes, it really in group for players with power, total need approximately ~7.5 hours. Event opened for 2 weeks, so, are impossible to allocate this time from all event time?

    However
, according to special buffs from developers, already added buff for +200% event progress, maximum buff will be +500% for progress, and, respectively, possible end event in more short time.

It's only my opinion about this event.

I liked the event and while I have not finished I can see that it would have been possible. Made the mistake early not to check guides and didn't realise that you kept buff when logging out. Therefore was not as diligent as I could have been. The other mistake I made was running mostly solo, and not being strong enough to kill the key bosses, I did a lot of running around FBI. In hindsight would have been smarter to try and link up with teams.

I think the rewards were awesome and have no problem that the older more experienced players being rewarded for all the time they have played the game. Next time (hopefully there will be a next time) I will be stronger and wiser and will be looking to finish the event.

The only thing I think that could be improved is the length of time the buff hangs around. I get that it is long enough if just running circles maintaining the buff. However it would be nice to take a short break and help out with a PW dungeon or two and not lose the buff. For a player that is not strong it meant having no other game time that just running event. Did take the gloss away a little. Even if the buff was there for an hour it would allow for daily PVP or a quick PW dungeon to remove the slog.

    Thanks for the great event.

The important thing is that you learned the lesson to always read the guides.

Regarding the buff, an interesting idea I had heard was that the buff kept the same 15 min timer, but upon counting down to zero, it would drop the stack size by 5-10 (depending on "balance"). That way, one simple mistake does not spell disaster for someone.

Hello, I thought I wasn't strong enough either. But I tried and found that I was . I finished , when about an hour and a half give or take a few minutes. I'm glad now that I actually like to farm, It paid off. Farming to me is relaxing working a high stressed job it's lovely to come home and slay monsters, because I think it was _Baragain_ that said It's 25 to life in the real world, not an exact quote so anyway
I'm happy, very low on supplies yes I just about used everything up. I didn't finish in one day I finished 11/29/2017. It was hard yes. Thank you to Traki for his guide I followed it.
