Why doesn't the unique bonus on sigrimass armor for sw work for bosses?
Would it be op if it worked for bosses?

Every boss is hard to kill with mage class, and bonus set sigrismar doesn't work for Ice sphere.
I think it is a bug.

The tooltip says the following: Every Ice Missile that hits an enemy covered in "Frost" will reduce the cost of your next Lightning Strike or Frozen Sphere by 6 Mana per hit up to a maximum of 30 Mana.

Bosses cannot be "covered in frost", then:

No it's not, it's working as per design, best regards.

That just means another SW set or skill that doesn't reaches full potential at boss fights, it would be nice if we could still "cover them in frost" even if they were still immune to the attack and movement speed debuff so that we could use the set more efficiently at boss fights, otherwise we'd have to wait on the scarce minions the bosses summon to attain the bonus, and losing effective shots at the boss, whatever it is but a positive tweak for this set at boss fights would be nice.

For the time being, I suggest you guys switch to magic missile when doing boss fights, way better due to the mana recovery talent, similar damage and more efficiente overall due to the design of the Sigris' set bonus.

I know how it works, but i was asking if it would be op if such a bonus worked with bosses
What are the opinions of experts?
I should switch to magic missile, but i'm lazy,so i won't, i have a lazy reputation to defend

Well, I'm no gurú like Trakilaki or Baragain, nor as big as a SW expert like Sebastian, but my guess would be no, it would not, of course (in theory) it should surpass the effectiveness of spamming magic missile to regain mana if you do proper activation cycles and being careful not to lose the electro charge if you're using LS as your main skill, but not by too much, that's why I suggested a tweak.

Doable, not as effective but doable with IM, but you need a bit of raw power to back it up or you'll struggle more time than it'd take to adjust the skills.

The bottom line, even though I do not like the concept of skills and talents being useless in some use cases, be it boss fight immune to everything or lifekeeper 'immune' to low dmg skills, the sigi issue mentioned doesn't bother me anymore.

Even if it worked on bosses, you need 2 shots to gain max saving. So it means in the teleport/mc/singu recharge cycle you throw lots of those low dmg skills, ice bullets, so less LS.

Now if we don't stick to the sigi torso, we have q1 torso. Bundled with khalys shoulders, peridots, mana talent etc (there is also mana cloak, adornment, pet) I reached 5 LS per teleport, so 10 per mc/singu cycle. And I only have time for 3 magic missiles before teleport becomes available again, so 10 more LS.

So in that cycle, I do 10 LS and three 'other' shots.

In hypothetical Sigi scenario, you will be at either 4+4LS+5, or similar. If you start with ice, it would be 2 ice missiles, 5LS, teleport, 4 LS, 2 ice or so. You just don't have time for all those saving shots because teleport resets fast. And you want to keep the consecutive LS to keep far better charged damage boost.

Test it with your setup. Make the most mana you can, and do MC-Singu-teleport (teleport CD didnt activate), throw as many LS as you can, teleport again, throw the same amount, then keep throwing whatever you can until singu restores.
Calculate how many LS you did between the MC-Singu cycles, how many other and what's your total (depends on your speed and CD runes).

Now imagine you have good q1 torso, redo the math, or just guess it. Do the same with hypothetical Sigi bonus. Q1 wins

So bottom line, it would be nice, but not a biggie.
