Hi. I've played this game in an on and off style for some 2 years. When I played, I played hours upon hours a day, while my offs were sometimes pretty long, like even a few months in a row.

I realized this game had quite a pretty wrapper, but its core is a rot. The wrapper is a nice looking fantasy setting and nice combat. However there are 3 aspects of DSO that are obvious red flags and should repel anyone even just approaching the game:
    1. Endless tedious farm that has the worst reward / effort + time ratio in this galaxy,
    2. Omnipresent gamble,
    3. It's a blatant pay-to-win.

DSO needs all your time unless you are willing to pay. Literally everything in the game is boring. Your road to level 55 is just the same thing over and over again. All quests are either "kill x enemies" or "collect x items" or a combination of the two. It's a pain in a butt leveling up only to realize the end game is just as bad. Parallel world is a bunch of dungeons that are meant to be played over and over until you go crazy.

There is no distraction from your everyday fighting, no interactivity with the environment. Cities are deserts pretty much with no npc's to talk to once you complete their boring quests. There are no places to explore, no interiors, nothing. Events are a good thing, but the reality is once an event that you've been looking forward to starts and you play it for an hour or so, it gets boring as hell, because events in DSO are based on the same principle as the Parallel world - repeat the damn thing a million times.

Rewards usually suck. Take the Monster Hunt event for instance. Without purchased buffs, you spend some 10-12 hours just to get a bunch of drakens and one mount. Maybe a costume or an emote if you are super lucky. Full triple A single player games last usually those 10-12 hours and you get a big dose of elaborate story or interesting diverse gameplay, or both, while in DSO you are running around Great Desert, killing the same enemies for 12 hours like a zombie. Heck there are even free games (not gonna name just in case) that don't make a zombie slave out of you like DSO does.

Why is the Great Desert for example so small?! It should be an enormous area with sand storms like in the Dunes event. Why is there no day-light cycle, allowing for different kinds of activities depending if it's day or night? Why can't we just do other things apart from fighting? I know, DSO is a hack & slash game, but it's an MMORPG too. There's basically nothing to do. All the hours you spend in the game every day feel like wasted. The world in DSO, the overall context of it, it's just not worth the effort. The DSO world is a dead place. Who are you a hero for? Nobody, no NPC nor player admires your amazing armor or your heroic deeds.

This game cannot get better. The business model is clear - frustrate and bore the player to death so they spend real money to make the suffering less painful. Make the player gamble so they fall into the vicious cycle of time waste and money waste forever, only because they have been building their character whom they don't want to just dump so easily. Their sentiment sucks them in. But this is similar in all MMO's pretty much.
The biggest insult is how the developers have this face of "But this game is free and it's exciting! Look at all those events and shiny items!", while they just keep engineering ways to catch you with their claws.

There's a lot more to be said about this game. But it'd be a too long rant. Just don't play it. Go read a a book or play better games. There are many. DSO slowly turns you into a zombie.

Hmmm, strange how none of the mods have anything to say...

Do you not realize that mods are simply players who volunteer to keep us forum members in line? I'm sure that each one of them has their own opinions about the game (good or bad) just like the rest of us do.

I do not know if mods are encouraged or permitted to state those opinions here on the forum (under their mod name) or not.

I think that some of us put the mods through enough grief already without forcing them to choose sides in our petty discussions.

Now if you wish to blame the developers, I'm sure that you'll get all sorts of comments as they are the ones that have an effect on the game, instead of trying to blame the volunteers who only moderate our language here on the forum.

{thinks really hard about what to say to the original poster} ...

    Goodbye?

In all seriousness, moderator accounts are for enforcing forum rules, posting announcements, and posting guides. If we have opinions to express, we do so on our personal accounts. No moderator reply was required in the thread, thus the lack of posts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was the mods' job to prevent/remove any (unconstructive) criticisms of the game and the devs in the forums, right? I mean, doesn't the original poster even promote not playing the game, which I thought wasn't allowed:
Again, like I said before, please don't hesitate to correct me.

Let me help you out, perhaps something like this:
"Sorry, but unconstructive and unsubstantiated criticism of the game and the game developers, including promoting other games or promoting not playing the game is prohibited, as this may be considered as a form of sabotage and/or misuse of the forum space, and may as a result lead to a decrease in the game's playerbase and therefore the profits of the company to which the game belongs; that is
    Bigpoint gmbh."
There you go, it's not that hard ;)

Just because you can't see it doesn't mean moderators haven't moderated this thread. Clearly all the team members have read this thread and no one took issue with the original post. This is the Speakers' Corner subsection, and within reasonable limits, players may express their opinions, including ones about how unhappy they are with the game. If you disagree with how we moderate, you may apply for a position yourself or read other language forums where opinions are moderated to a different degree. There does not need to be any further discussion about how moderators moderate.

It's the game that is advocating not playing the game

You can't ban those who report the truth and reality as it is, you have to ban the game

Of course that is hyperbole and doesn't make sense, like your first proposition doesn't make sense, since OP is saying that he's tired of the game and he's stopping playing it

And what he's saying it's true

I'm sorry but it appears that your proposition is equally false in that case. I just don't understand how your opinion suddenly became "truth and reality"?

Yes you are wrong. Where did you read that?
Nah ... you are not helping ... trolling has a limit. There is a limit where you can and where you can't troll.
Oh ... another Kenobi dude? :D
I used to know one "Kenobi" in this forum ... :D

I guess there's a lot of Star Wars fans in this forum lol

What the OP is stating is True, look around in the compendium, read what the quest objectives are, it's always kill x enemies, collect x things, craft y object, do that in the map
The story is the same in every region, it's always" go to city in danger, omg there is a bad guy threatening it, kill bad guy, city is saved"
The bosses do not have personality, they are just dolls waiting to be beat and killed by the players

The gameplay is exactly like what the OP described, it's repeating the same action over and over and over, this is the gameplay of this game
OP cites the monster hunt event, which is the most glaring example of this behavior and there were other events in the past that had the philosophy of repeating the same action to the point of madness, unless of course you pay
But the problem is that the rewards are not worth it and the effort you need to get them is too much

Ok so you agree with what OP said about the game; I personally don't but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I just wanna say this: if all OP said is true and you believe it (as you stated) then why do you play the game then? If you're so dissatisfied with the gameplay mechanics and events (as you seem to be from your above post), why do you even bother playing the game?

It doesn't matter if I believe it or not, it's true

Have you played the monster hunt event?Have you played the leatherboards in the PW?Have you done the quest? It's all repetitive and for those who don't have a will of iron, it's becomes tedious

  15. I do agree with the OP. The game sadly has become monotenous. If it were not for the fact that I am in a guild that I want to help with I would leave. Pw leaderboards and boss farming gets very boring after a while imo. The maps blend together soon and it does seem to just make you seem to zone out like a zombie. Even creating new toons doesnt seem to help as much as yiu are just repeating the same quests. I give credit to those that have toons in each class. Thats alot of quest repeating.

And what if I can justify all that this game is?
Right here is a 27 year gaming veteran replying to you.
So I know all the games that is out there, was there in the past and the ones coming in the future.
Firstly paying to win is just an option it is not a must. (However payers do get things done faster)
    The gambling, what about it?
If I need ander to up something I just go gamble a couple of 5s
Endless tedious farm yes, actually hell yes
Not wishing to refer to other games here but I am going to
This game is built on the arpg mechanics which is an isometric view hack and slash.
The father of this genre being EDIT (However in 1990 there was a robin hood game that was quite similar but not isometric)
I can refer you to every single ARPG on the market and coming, this being my genre of choice.
Problem with all the others is play time vs actual completion.
EDIT for example can be done in 3 to 6 weeks (and thats it congrats bye you paid $50 for a game and its gone0)
EDIT (you dont pay at all but if you have completed the game you can only do events with new builds every single bloody time)
EDIT (finish it and finish your build quite fast)
    In drakensang it is different
This is the best "keep the player entertained forever" hack and slash I have ever played.
I am a gamer and gaming is what I do.
If it wasnt this game it would be another one

    Hahaha, me neither. Is anyone?
This game has become a bad habit for me. I used to play hc and made a so-so char, so it is kinda sad to give up for good.

DSO is not fun for a while now. I really do hope new release will refresh game.
