Most threads focus on how much dmg we can put out, but dmg alone doesn't get you through the toughest maps.

I've looked through the "show what you have" thread, but as many things have changed (and about the change again) I thought that it would be nice to get some opinions on what the other stats should be before someone (like me) tries to tackle Inf III

I have been on some runs (in groups) and can survive the mobs (if they are small enough, but at the boss level I die if the boss looks in my general direction).

I know that my HP, armor and resist are pitifully low for infernal maps (mostly because I am still using a bunch of the older gems) but what should they be in order to survive?

I need a goal to work towards as far as these other stats go. I can get through inf I (solo) now if I go slow and pay attention, although I burn through more health pots than I care to use, but it is what it is for now.

I have the gear that I want to use (and I'm slowly adding the crafted materials in as I gain the cores) but it will take time before I can convert all my old gems into new ones which will make a HUGE difference in stats.

What would you consider these bare minimum stats to be for a 2h to get through?

    Hp =

    Armor % =

    Resist % =

There are a lot of extra parts to that question, but here is my starting point for soloing Grim/Medusa/Herald/Heredur (the four easiest T6 bosses for a DK to solo with the necessary skill and tactics, IMHO). I'd 70k HP, 60% T6 Armor (~71% T3 armor), 50% T6 Resistance (~60% T3 Resistance). If you have more HP, you can have less Armor/Resistance, and vice versa. Also, the more damage you have, the less defense you can have because you can regen easier.

That said, other bosses, Mortis, Bearach, Khalys, Sigris, and Arachna require more defenses because their single hits can do way more or are harder to dodge. And, as said before, DPS is important too. For example, Khalys's attacks are very hard to doge during phase 1, and if you don't get from phase 1 to phase 2 before your Dragon Hide is used up, you will have a hard time surviving long enough to even get her to phase 2. Or consider Bearach. His stunning attack can be tough to doge sometimes, and if you are stunned when your stun break isn't cooled down, it is a death sentence. Arachna's attacks have a wide hit angle and long hit distance despite being "melee" attacks, so dodging those are tough and if you aren't at or near full HP, one can kill you.

My recommendation: When you can solo a given T5 bosses with blues and no deaths, you are ready to attempt the same boss with reds.

I'm curious why the difference between T6 vs T3? Isn't 60% armor (as an example) still 60% regardless of which tier you use?

I figured the tough bosses would be darn near impossible to solo without being darn near OP, but now I have a starting point on the lower end bosses. Much thanks for that!

I'm almost there in armor and resist with my T5 gear, but I'm at 45k HP currently and will be for a while until I get more new gems or convert my old ones whichever comes first. That is why I die when the bosses just look at me now

After this pw season ends, my inf III crit should be right around 78% (currently at 67% for III, but I'll have the necessary cores to merge my leg with my adornment which if my math is right take me to 78%).

I'm at 17-24K dmg with no ess now, so I'm not terribly far from where I need to be on dmg. Still need to upgrade a few speed runes to get faster (or wisdom points in the new 208/9) whichever might be easier.

My crit dmg is still at 189, but that will also improve considerably at the end of this pw season when I craft my leg rings into my uniques. Probably not enough to where I'll be able to solo Inf III, but it for now it is a bit easier to work on the armor/hp/resist since that is mostly about getting the right gems.

If my math is right (after I merge my legs with my uniques), I should be able to go up to inf II after this current pw season. Maybe not all the bosses, but at least the easy ones.

I'm talking about the difficulty you are doing, not the gear you are using. I occasionally use the tier of gear you get from a difficulty to refer to the difficulty itself.

The first four bosses I listed are much more about tactics and moving, and you could kill them with lower damage, so long as you can dodge their attacks. The only question is how long it will take and the longer it takes, the more time you have to make a mistake and die.

If you remember a while back, someone told me that I had a "C+" toon that would never be that good and that I should be farming in Painful. Back then, I took my C+ toon to Q1 and soloed Infernal I back when the max was Infernal II. My stats were decent for the time, but not OP by any stretch of the imagination. I made a video of the run to prove that skill is more important than just raw stats.
Might I recommend %HPotI on boots? Sure, run speed is more sexy and good for PvP, but HP keeps you alive. A pair with 90%-110% crafted onto whatever unique fits your build best will give you tons more HP. HPotI Runes are also highly useful for the same reasons. Each 10% rune can give 400-500 HP (more, depending on gems/tier of the item they are in), and they add up fast. If you have the draken and no uniques to spend them on, you could easily gain a couple thousand HP easily.

Ah, now I understand what you meant.

I've got a nice set of 3.5 HP leg boots ready to go with my Bellicose boots, just need to gather the 350 draken cores. No HP runes yet. While I'm waiting on the cores, I'm still trying to get that 3.5 into a 4.

I'll do the boots first, then work on getting my 3/4 speed gloves into the Bellicose.

I've been so focused on getting my dmg and crit up to a decent level first.

Once 208/9 hits, I'll have to get used to not having charge as my main evade tool. That may keep me from being able to do Mortis for a while (especially when those knights get in the way that keeps me from running).

Slightly off topic, but is there any good tactics to deal with the minions PW bosses spawn? They're the reason I can't do Heredur, Herald, Bearach, and more on high difficulties. They're not easy to kill, they get in the way, and often kill me for that reason. For Herald, the minions don't move, but their healthpool is so high that he can spawn them faster than I can kill.

Granted I'm stuck at inf 1, but Heredur's spawns are not much of an issue as they stay put and you can get him to follow you around the map pretty fast. Once they spawn, move and forget them.

For Bearach, the wolves I find pretty useful in getting my rage built up and they drop health pots. Now they do mark you (armor break) so if he hits you with lightning or those stupid bees while marked, you're dead.

Herald is always a problem for me because of the stuns coupled with those boulders. When I beat him without dying it is always based on luck, so I would also appreciate a tip for that particular boss fight.

If you mean "rock slide" when you say boulders, the attack falling from the ceiling, you actually get a tiny window (less than a half second) after the stun runs out before rock slide hits you. I always save furious battle cry with 3 point talent on my DK to get out of any situation where I know the stun will get me killed.

Regarding Heredur, the archers teleport all around me constantly, constricting my movement. Super annoying for me.

The falling rocks and his explosion (fire) thing I can usually survive, it is the rolling boulders get spit out that seems to always get me while I'm stunned. On fatal or Inf 1, I die at least twice while fighting him. For whatever reason I cannot figure out his stun fast enough to charge my way out.

Now with the upcoming change to the charge, (not free when hitting a bleeding opponent) things for me are going to change drastically. That has been my go to get out of danger move.

For Heredur, the archers have never been an issue for me. They don't teleport fast enough to bother me. He seems to die a lot faster than some of the other bosses, so maybe that is why.

Although, he is getting a big boost with 208/9, (specifically his Melee Attack (Swing) - Damage increased by 200%) so things might change on how he is fought.

    Edit to add.

I finally got enough gops to boost some gear and got a little more dmg, and finally got my crit dmg up to 228,99 (still got a long ways to go, but this is nice)

My crit still needs a little more for inf III, but I should be there very soon.

For now I can focus most of my attention on gaining tons of HP and resist.

You're in luck. Dragan is right around the corner and will be a great source of cores and potentially stronger boots.

If you can't kill a minion that a boss spaws in a couple hits (no more than a couple seconds spent on them, max) they you may not want to be doing that difficulty yet. If you are having issues with a boss's minons, then the boss's HP is probably so high that your runs are inefficient.
My best recommendation for that is to just not get hit when you don't have DH on. His attacks follow a highly predictable cadence and are easily dogged by running in circles around him (except his telegraphed giant explosion which is easy to get out of range of, and his small fire explosions after his big explosion that keep squishy toons out of range). I don't waste time on his minions because they mean more HP per MWS and are not much of a threat.
Nice DPS there. A solid start and really, the biggest things you need are the defenses and crit damage. Congrats.

I need a ton of cores, but yes the upcoming Dragan event will help a lot. If all goes well, I should at least be able to do my boots which will boost my HP some.

The biggest boost will come when I can finally turn my old hp gems into new ones. At 324 refiners each, it will take some time to convert all 11, but going from 135 each to 247 each adds up quick given the % on some items.

You have more than enough Damage and Crit to do Infernal III. Something that I can only Dream of :p

Increasing more damage and Crit is not what You need next.

Your Health and Armor is awfully low. The only way You can even do Infernal I with such low health and armor is because You have more than awesome damage.
Once You have got at least 60K health and 15000+ armor, You will see the difference.

Look at Stexx95 stats above. He has awesome stats for doing Infernal III. Much less damage than Yours but excellent defense (more than enough defense)

The thing with having more defense is that he has to dodge less and can take a beating. So, I believe even with less damage than Yours, he can kill 2 or even 3 times faster than You would simply because he doesn't need to dodge a lot.

Yep... The goal now is to move my crafted HP items into the uniques which will help, but until the gems get converted, Inf III is just a dream.

It's bad enough that I am less than 45K Hp, but look how bad my armor/resist is on the tough maps:

My thought when I saw his stats was "I like big yellow numbers too much to use a build like that."

    But yea, it works. :p
