I do not agree, Warner Brothers pulls the same bollocks as EA; they were huge into loot boxes, they released a buggy game on steam, they refused to fix another buggy game because they were working on DLCs and let's not forget them locking characters on day one DLCs in mortal combat, abusing microtransactions on Buy to Play Games, and general disregard on costumers
    That's much worse than BP
Oh and that's one of them

Capcom and Namco use Day One DLCs, abuse preorders, lock iconic characters away in fighting games and Capcom released on early access game at full price for a AAA game, which is beyond scummy

EA was forced to stop the loot box trash because of massive backlash, not because they cared, they care about profits, consumer's interests, a capitalist never cares about the interests of the consumers

Perhaps only Ubisoft is better than BPs

And no, bad studios are popping up everywhere and companies like EA are still afloat

Ok, I see reason and stand/sit corrected. I went too far. BP is much more passive in their killing of games, and those other companies are more active. BP does have actual gambling mechanisms, but are not as egregiously evil. Ubisoft might be the least bad but I can't stand their games.
Well Ea is actually suffering a bit now. Not enough, but a bit.

    One of two possibilities:

    1. They are in a coma state, but made no comment about the developers ceasing game development.
    2. Something larger than normal is coming down the pipeline. In the past, when something big is coming, most updates leading up to whatever that "something big" were usually on the small side and consisted of mostly bug fixes of back end changes to support the "something big."

    I'm betting on #2.

I hope you are right, but BP has already done #1 in the last year and a half to BSGO. We have heard no word of any real update since the last dev stream. There was one post on fb saying they were working on something, but it was a fuzzy image with no information. Not inspiring, to say the least.

It's been less than a month since the last release... it's a little early to say the sky is falling Henny Penny.

And, in that time, there have been bonus codes and a regular social media presence.

To quote one of my favorite authors, "People are stupid. They will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true."

Moral of the quote... Don't let fear or desire convince you of something that isn't true, especially when there is plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Prices for gems seem to be higher than the prices during the 50% off price....

Unless the second go around is cheaper prices I am not sure what point there is for most of these sales (other than items you can only purchase from emilia and/or the unique equipment)

Last release maybe, but when was the last new content? Social media presence? BSGO still has regular social media posts, that is not evidence of anything. How does the quote apply to this situation? I don't want DSO to die. I still spend mutiple hours a day playing the game, working on the wiki, reading/posting on the forum, etc... I want to spend money on the game, but all the evidence I have seen in the last 15 months tells me the trajectory of the game is going straight into the ground. It looks like BP is not committed to this game long term, and is slowing down the development. If they do have something coming, why be silent about it? Where is this evidence you speak of?
The point of this premium day is to get payers to spend lots of money to get "rare items". It is just a scam, cuz they aren't developing the actual game.

Also to remember that august is holiday season in Germany. I believe that drakensang team is not very large. My guess is that they have 1/3rd of the staff at work during august.

I work as a dev myself and our holiday season is on july . We simply inform our customers than during july no bigger new features are developed(bugfixes and minor background/infra tasks are done) and also august is "slimmed" on release feature wise and I bet we have more devs than drakensang.

We all know that BP sucks on information sharing so I expect them NOT to tell us anything :D

My guess that upcoming pvp rework is so big that with their limited resource pool "normal" creation of new content/events just takes a hit.

They just should put an info letter every 2nd month. Not able to speak to users is something that strikes my always with bit of a amusement actually:rolleyes:

Even if someone buy or not ander' has nothing to do with beeing good or bad, this thread contains just different considerations and argues about spending money in game. There is one clear question, if let say that you know for sure or have a strong hunch that this game will die soon, still worth to spend money?

It seems my view is slightly different from most people. I pay for premium and will rarely (but on occasion) pay for ander. However I am paying to play what is in the game rather than what may potentially come.

If I buy a game off steam I am buying existing content and either enjoy it or not.

With DSO I am enjoy playing solo with bonus of chatting and teaming. When I stop enjoying I will stop playing, and paying, and move onto something else.

I agree with your analysis of their lack of communication. I think monthly would be better, but every other month would be fine for me as well. I think everyone should have vacation, but how much work does it take to put existing events into the game? They didn't need to change the anniversary event, but they made it worse. They didn't need to make the All for None event, but it was complete trash. Why couldn't they have put DDH or Infested Sewers? The first Ifested event actually got some good feedback, but they made it worse for the second iteration (I liked it though.) They had these events last August/September, why can't they have them now?

This is a totally fair critique of my original post, and I mostly agree with you. First error you made, though, is that when you buy a game from steam, it is downloaded onto your computer and you have it. When playing an online game, you don't have anything. All the "stuff" is on BP owned servers. However, my main complaint about BP and the main reason why I am calling for pitchforks and boycotts is because of what BP did to BSGO. They promised support, updates, and other things, but then completely stopped supporting the game. No warning, no apology, no explanation, just radio silence. That is what I am feeling from BP concerning DSO currently. They have given very vague "teases" on social media of something like a PW lortac map coming, but they won't respond to mountains of feedback for all for none and they wont give us the old events we already had. They did a Dev stream on PVP rework, there was feedback, and now we havent heard anything about it. If BP just came out and said, "hey, DSO's player base is going down, but we don't want the game to fail, we have stuff planned, here are some things we want to do and here is the best way to support that (aka buy this thing or that thing)", then I would be all over supporting that. BP doesn't even need to go that far, they just need to communicate more than zero. That is not what they are doing. The only communication we get is from the moderator team, which BP DOES NOT EVEN PAY!! If in the coming months BP does launch a new PW or any new content, some events other than Ghost Festival and Winter solstice, and some updates like workbench or PVP, I will come back to this thread, apologize and advocate the opposite. The precedent BP set with BSGO convinces me I should not believe this will happen and I should try to save the actual game I love.

Yah, I bet you got that midget costume for some fun times with Sharr Kharab.

Wait, are you referring to Andrakash costume? EDIT is wrong with you ppl? Have any of you ever heard of steampunk fashion?? The costume is really cool, and not BDSM at all. I agree that it is not for male heroes (just like Antonia dress), but it looks pretty fine on female char. After all, it is in the strong women section. I love it, and I came back to the game just cuz of nice looking costume! :D

I must say, thank you dso team for a new female costume. I want moooore ofc, but thank you for this one. Good job! :)

P.S. Regarding this investing-money-in-game thread... I have never called myself a payer, but I do spend my money on anders. I bought only once or twice premium 1month (regular one, deluxe is awesome, but waaay too expensive for me), and I was not satisfied.

One month I pay for a nice mount and a dress for my hero, next month dress for myself. :D

Idk, I prefer when game have purchasable cosmetics more than purchasable gems, glyphs, items etc.

it doesn't look good if it makes your character appear bald even though it has hair

But it's not BDSM, it's not a tight black suit

When you play, you see big hat, so it is not visible, it is not a problem. And tbh, I hate the hairstyle I choose for my hero long time ago, so being bald might be considered as an improvement aswell. :D

through some type of magic power hats can make hair invisible

I was, for Traki. I admit steampunk and BDSM are two different things and the Andrakasch costume is more steampunk. However, BDSM and steampunk are not completely distinct realms. There is more than a little overlap.

This is why it pays to be a whiny butch on the internet. Less than one week after I made this thread, the mods give us THIS POST!! FRAK my post about BSGO! That tv show was weird at the end and made no sense. The game is probably boring and pointless to support anyway. I am not claiming I influenced this post, but I asked for more communication and it looks like we will soon be getting a lot more, like the previous devstreams (I hope more of these, cuz that is exactly what I said and still do want). I also asked for more actual content to show longterm commitment to DSO. It also looks like we are getting that! It looks like Baragain was right, and as I said, I am super happy about DSO now. I don't know why the devs couldn't have given us this exact post a month ago. I would have been fine with them saying "hey we have a new dev team letter coming in a month". That would have probably completely negated the fear I had. I still think my fear and post was justified and am happy it looks like it was actually wrong.

    As I said :D
So black tight suit is a definition for BDSM? :D
Steampunk is a genre ... a fashion style is just a sub-content of a genre.
BDSM can be present in any genre or wave ...
Maybe you should open a new thread and lets see what is there to be happy about. From the rumors and what i have read in their official FB ... there is no place for happiness ... in fact it will probably put an end to my and many other players' DSO journey.
