I have looked and looked. What are glyphs used for now and where do I use them at?

They are a currency used for equipment crafting on the workbench now. So whether it's rarity upgrade, enchantment transfer or equipment creation, it all needs GoP.

So, I've looked on the workbench. Equipment upgrades, enchantment transfers, equipment upgrades. Rarity upgrades use 4 of an item. I haven't seen anything that uses glyphs. Are there recipes that I am missing? I have a BOATLOAD of glyphs from the items that were melted down in the CE. They seem to be useless.

You have to put ingredients on the workbench before the crafting cost appears. Trust me, it's all in GoP.

I put a weapon on the workbench and no recipes show up.

You won't be applying GoP to improve a single item … you put two items on the workbench to transfer enchantments between the two items.

Can be any two items (e,g. transfer a Damage on This Item enchantment from a glove to a weapon). If they have the same # of enchantments, you can swap all enchantments at the same time; or you can pick any one from the first item and swap it with any other from the 2nd item.

To be eligible for enchantment transfer crafting, you need to complete a series of simple equipment crafting achievements. when you open the achievements tab in the Journal, locate the equipment crafting section. The first set of achievements at the top of that list is what needs to be completed.

Put 4 random junk green (improved) item on the workbench and create a single random blue (magic) item. Do that several times … I believe you need to create 10 blue items for the first tier of that achievement. This costs both GoP and some gold.

Do the same but by combining 4 blue items to create a purple (extraordinary) item. I believe you need to do that 20x to get the 2nd tier of that achievement.

Finally, combine 4 purples to make on e gold (legendary) item. Repeat 30 times. Then you'll get that 3 tier of achievement and a recipe to unlock enchantment transfer crafting.

Enchantment transfer crafting also requires GoP (and some gold) to execute.

If you have several hundred million GoP, then just craft whatever junk you drop in your travels. If your supply is more limited, consider farming for lower level equipment and crafting that, as the GoP cost rises with the level of the items and the quality of their base stats & enchantments (I'm guessing that base stats impact price, but am not certain).

Thanks for the replies. I have a degree in engineering and I still find all of this to be EXTREMELY complicated and incomprehensible. It's kind of indicative of the whole game. Grind, grind, grind, craft, craft, craft, melt, melt, melt, make shiny dust, dust dust.... It is all frustration. Repeat everything 30 times..... The "new" quests involve 9999 kills, 100 demon horns, etc. and all you get is a little exp. I don't see anything in the shop that will help with any of this. I suppose if you spend one million dollars on gems to grind them down, you might be able to make useable equipment. I started this game in 2013 and it is painful to see what it is now.

The workbench behaviour is buggy anyways. Select the recipe you want to execute, then throw the ingredients on there.

And there are several styles of workbenches scattered throughout the land. Some are more intuitive for gem crafting; some are better for suited to grinding & unraveling. Each can accomplish every task now (for awhile, one style or another simply would refuse to do what you wanted it to do), but, yes, it's often a barrier to quick game play.
