I understand that the critical chance is capped at 80%, but I am unsure what the cap for the critical damage is. Is it 500%? I have already hit 500% and it seems to not increase further - is this the cap and no reason to increase the critical value any further?

Correct, critical damage does indeed cap at 500%, which is also the point your critical rate at PW bloodshed reaches 80%.

thanks, so does that mean it's pointless for me to upgrade crit anymore after hitting 500% damage cap?

Drakensang's "literature" argues that, exceeding the crit cap, there should be some sort of benefit in terms of the increase in damage. In order to verify, I have exceeded (by far) that maximum limit, but I have not noticed any increase in the base damage and consequently in the damage dealt. Maybe it's just a popular belief, maybe it's buggy (lol. no wonder if it was), maybe I simply didn't understand how it should manifest its effect. Anyway, to date, I find it useless to strive to increase the critical above 500%.
