Advice about lockpick chests

Hello
Im in dire need of a new staff and some new items..
Do i go open extraordinary, or the legendary chest.. I have about 7k lockpicks
Is there a chance for legendary in the extraordinary chests or should i just go for
the legendary chest. I've been playing the game for 5 days now and i only got one
fairly good item so far, so thats why im asking

Can you use your lockpicks for other thing than lockpick chests

 

Dont waste 'm on 100x chest. Better open 20x5 lockpicks.
And sure every item that can drop on map can also drop from chest.

If youre still leveling, i wouldnt bother that much about gears...you'll outlevel them too fast.
If youre lvl100, try find a guild/friends/or stranger and ask for a couple runs on higher mods, so you can grab some starter gears.

 

Okay..Thanks will try find some magic chests. Read somewhere that they are on fatal maps
Can play fatal maps in about one level for me.. And will rely on finding loot and crafting

 

If you go to dungeons around kingshill you can go higher mods if you want.

And again; does look like youre still low level, so dont waste to much resource on chests right now.

 

Im lvl 64.. Are the loot in the new maps better than elsewhere?
Atm im grinding Telepolos on Excruciating
Would it be better for me to play a higer lvl map on the old maps instead?

Have the game become harder after the update in 2020
Remember i could play infernal back then.. Today im only able to play fatal

 

Maps dont matter other than certain uniques only drop in certain regions/pw-maps. Only thing that give better gear is the mod.
Example: painfull maps drop gears +5 levels than you, while blood drop +40 level.

What some lower level players do is; go merciless and just open couple lockpick chests to get some higher level gears and then go back to questing or whatever on lower mods.

Yes and no. Everyone felt like they became noob again when they changed the game and depending on how much resources you got (gems/ips/etc.etc.) you'll be able to catch up faster than a new player.
Crafting plat lines became allot easier with the update, which you might want to look into aswell.

And like i said; soon you get some higher level gears, things will become easier.

I would like to second only opening 5-key lockpick chests for now - currently, you would be better off opening a lot of 5key chests than any of the more expensive chests, as mentioned above.

With that said, don't forget to open all the free/normal chests as well, and if you need any hard-to-get uniques, using the lockpicks to open those chests in the maps related to those uniques will be a nice way to potentially drop the ones you want, as well. For example, if you want any of the terror items from Sargon event, you can try to open 5key chests there, in addition to 1key amphoras, in the first map to try to get those uniques. Lingering Memory uniques are another example as well.

If you have some draken stored up, you can try to buy lockpicks (and amphora keys) from Grima every time she turns up with different events, and you can also gain some lockpicks from the daily deals if you know how much ander you will spend on a certain day (i.e. opening gem slots, etc.). ^^

 

I am by no means an experienced player (highest level is in the 70's), but I have some advice. Save up the higher power essences and then use them to run a favorite map at a higher difficulty. I start running Painful maps as soon as I can to gather better gear, then when ready, I run the next level up until I can make a Infernal run or two. You don't need often to complete the maps, just find a chest or two.

Like the others have pointed out, legendary chests are expensive and while they guarantee a legendary item, the odds of it being actually useful is low from my experience. I will waste a chance 25 picks, but the smaller chests are the best bet.

The second reason to run painful as soon as you can is the sentinels. Defeating them can add better gear than you chance in the chests.

 

I was thinking the same so started to save those lockpicks, so far I have saved over 600 of them. Will do exactly as you recommended in your last sentence. Cheers....
