Boss not taking damage when I hit?

Hello, I just recently returned to the game after like a 5 year break and it looks completely different. That's fine and all, but what is the deal with bosses? Only about 1/3rd of the hits they take actually registeres. I'm playing ranger and I fire like 5 orange arrows and only one of them deals damage, even though they all land and show the damge number.
Any help appreciated, if it's intentional or bug or smt.

 

Bosses are kinda rough in the lower levels, though your shots should register without problem. I'm guessing you don't have the setting enabled, where you can see exact numbers for enemy hp pools (?) and therefore it only looks like some of your shots are hitting when the actual bar decreases. Armor break is also really important to maximize your damage, for ranger that would be hunting trap and thicket of thorns. If you have number values enabled and your shots actually aren't having any effect it may have something to do with your ping, which you can also enable the little display for in the settings.

Playing style and character building have changed quite noticeably, but the good news is that it may be fairly easy to get accustomed to. It has become much faster to max characters, so you may even find the drive to grow and develop multiple characters of different classes, as players nowadays have been doing. ^^
