With all the bad language filters there are in this game, why is it that players are allowed to create characters with obscenities in their name? This morning I played in a PVP with a player named EDIT (fill in the blank, you'll figure it out). This is far from the only obscene character name I've seen in the game. I don't want my children exposed to such language, so why is this allowed? Doesn't Drankensang filter for such names?

Characters with names like this should be deleted. In fact, their player accounts should be deleted/locked until they learn that this is not acceptable behaviour. As for the people who create such names, get some therapy!

Hi @fddkk9_gp , you can always report those names to Support and they will be changed if offensive. :)

  3. Support regularly gets reports of inappropriate names, and they are always dealt with by changing their names to something non offensive, and often amusing. If the individual is a habitual offender (regularly creating characters with offensive names) they also face bans. As Melethainiel already said, please send it to Support along with what server you encountered them on.

There is nothing wrong with being concerned for your children but if you think exposure to that name is even comparable to the exposure your children get from you, media, and friends/school, you've got another thing coming... just saying.

@TheInfamous, true, but still no reason for allowing it in the game. The devs should develop a way to prevent players from choosing such names, instead of fixing it afterwards, and only if it gets reported.

its much easier and cheaper to fix names or ban players on demand than creating a super smart and super powerful tool that will forsee human creativity when it comes to mischiefs.

also, i think you would get much better results if you´ve explained your kids what is foul language, why shouldnt they use it as well as when and how should they use it if they really must. a way of wisdom and knowledge is always better than plain denial. if you cant shield them from it(and there is no way you could) you better teach them how to deal with it :)

lol, if only all parents would do so... but unfortunately that doesnt happen, so...
I'm looking at DSO for making some solution. Can't be that hard to make a filter that prevents people from using certain combinations of characters in their names. like the F- word, N- word (i prefer to type it out full in a grown up conversation, but then it ll be turned into ********) and other obscene or aggressive words. The only thing you cant prevent is when players start using combo's of letters and numbers. Like EDIT and stuff.

You are thinking that masking your words is efficient?

    BP already have solution:

1.1.2 Only those individuals who have reached the age of 18 are entitled to use the full scope of Games and Services provided by Bigpoint. Individuals under a certain age who have the express consent of their legal guardian may nonetheless be prohibited from participating in particular games due to age restrictions specifically applicable to those Games.

That means this game is 18+.
If parents were too concerned about what their kids could see/read in the game ... they wouldn't let them play at the first place.

lol why? i thought you was worried about your kids being exposed to foul language, i only guess it takes their parrent - ergo you - to do so.

    and this :D

Ahaha, my kids are way too young to play this game. Why do you think i'm on these forums? because my kids play this game? no dude, i do. It wasnt me stating to be concerned about kids in the first place.
The reason why i think these names shouldnt be allowed, is because people play a game to have fun (i do anyways), not to find foul language on their screen, which express and cause irritation, anger, hate, frustration, etc ---> giving you a negative feeling while a game is all about having fun.

@Mal3ficent I've seen a moderator state before that you guys read and check all the posts. So i'll take you on your word. I thought it might be ok to use that combination, because i was using it as an example, not to curse at anyone. And i wasnt trying to mask anything. So if i bended the rules too far or crossed the line, hereby my apologies. :)

Sorry have you confused with the OP my bad :)

by all means yet you have to consider costs and efficiency. its pointless investing time, money and human resources on developing tool to prevent certain behaviour that would still not be as good as you would like it to be :D especially when community will gladly do it for them for free :D

You got a point, well, i just hope the devs will consider it one day. Untill then I guess we'll just have to report all those badly raised and frustrated kids :p

Sorry, but I don't have an issue with foul language or 'rude' names, in fact they often make me chuckle. It's just words. I mean, I saw one this week called Perineum - NOT a foul word and yet try explaining that one to a youngun'! lol For us oldies, that's funny stuff.

My daughter is 6 years old and she asks about my game and I have told her - it's for adults. I would never let a child play a game where a) adults chat and can say all sorts of inappropriate things that don't require bad language, and b) is so based on violence.

Like the terms state, it's an 18+ game, I don't believe in censorship of language on 18+ area. It's like letting your child frequent a bar and then taking offence that there is adult topics and language used in there.

    just saying

I already don`t let my kid play anymore and that easy since he dosn`t like it any more with the generally nasty comments.past a month it getting just too obvious. softly soft hardcore will become like others. Drakesang policy was vague on 18 only, I think give a other year Drakesang will make that small statement in bold captial letters 18 Only. blood graphics that was add not too bad a year later players will keep on demanding for full realistic hardcore.Like everything else really. we shouldn't be too supraised i guess. yeah it bit disappointing to able see where this game going to become, but what can u do. Leave or ban kid from playing.

    just sayingggg lol
