Bug abusing, which was not fixed.

Any chance the abusers will be punished?.. first of all the bug is still there, in other form, and secondly getting 1500 coins is impossible. If you don't punish those guys, you have to give others those coins for free or decrease the requirement to a reasonable levels. Get the thing right, dev, please. At least once

You folks don't read, Do you? You would have to be a fool to farm the presents and waste those glyphs.
And then there is the math I did for the time, and so far, it is reasonably accurate. I'd adjust the 15 min estimate to about 17-18, but that is not that big of a change. Only adds about another hour. Doing the same for the 20 min and bumping it up to 25 and you have an extra 10 hours for the box, but in the grand scheme of thins, 10 hours is only an increase in total farming time of about 18%-20%

What glyphs are you talking about ? If you think you will collect 1500 coins by farming presents ... then good luck and happy failure.
    Impossible? :)
Are you playing PVE at all? I am almost 1/3 done ... and this task is very ... very much possible.

It was just 20 hours into mini #2 when i saw on facebook Daywalker screenshot opening the gift.

I meant it is impossible to get 1500 in mini1 plus 20 hours of mini2 without abusing the bug.

Otherwise, yes, it is possible, over course of all 3 challenges.

So anyway, can it be open by a single player only? Due to..BP statements.

That note in the patch notes was with respect to the present quest that you could turn in for coins. It was bugged so that if one person completed the quest, everyone was rewarded. Even under those circumstances, it was still not worth farming for completion of the 1500 coins.

Ah ... yes I was talking about playing all 3 challenges.
And you know what is the funniest part? They are braging all over the net ... and that was the main reason why the DK was nerfed down ... just open the DK section and you will see lot of DKs playing 2-3 months soloing the endgame boss with only polished gems and 2H weapon.
It is the same thing with this present ... they need to post pictures all over the internet ... because this is the major life achievement for them ... like getting PhD in Nuclear Physics ... or marrying the rich man's daughter. :D

I figured out the bug for the mini in my head. Wonder how they will fix it. Nice rewards though.

The problem is that their QA people test and plan fixes for simple bugs. They don't think like an "adversary" and ask themselves how they can exploit this game.

The biggest thing that they could do to improve the quality of the game is to offer "bug bounties." Offer a reward of andermant to the first 5 or 10 people who report a bug (before it is fixed). The amount can be based on the severity of the bug and how well detailed their description on how to execute it is. Mind you, the amount of andermant has to be respectable. 5k for the current reset bug would be insulting, but 50k would be reasonable. If you are talking about a simple example of a typo/translation error, the reasonable amount for something like that might just be 100-300.

If BP were to implement this, test server would truly be used to test. Instead of being a preview of things to come, people would be hunting for issues to report as soon as they hit live servers. You could even offer a bonus. If it is reported while it is on the test server 5 working days before it goes live, but it makes it to live server anyway, you report it again and get 20% more added to your bounty.

But why will this never happen? It would involve BP taking ownership of their mistakes and rewarding the players for being smarter than their developers/QA personnel. Given that we don't have four year degrees in "How to Screw up a Game 101-401," I'm sure that none of us is qualified to tell them that they aren't doing their job right.

This bug could be easily assumed by the dev. The very specific dev, who designed the way instances work. All the dungeon instances are initialized when user accesses them. Instance is being created and initialized. So the dev guy would ask himself a question - is there a way for the user to get into that (new) instance unless going the right way. The answer is obvious - coming from offline, when the offline timeout is not yet reached, but the other (current) instance is not allowed for whatever reason. Obvious option is a team play.

And the way they fixed it is a joke. I don't see the code but I would surely catch the use case they have missed.

That means two things. Those Dev who originally designed the instances are gone by now. Current Dev cannot figure it out. They don't fix things, they patch them (not sure they understand the difference). And they cannot even understand holistically the reason and the cause. Even that piece they patched is not clever at all. Instead of forcing user to an urban area, they might have just used flags. Killed a boss - flag on. Visited an urban area - flag off. With flag on - you are forced to city no matter the way you appear online. And that would fix all the cases. And it is just one dummy optiin, which are many. Instead, not only they leave the way to exploit if further, they force potentially innocent player to urban area. For instance one who joined the chat team to call a boss and was kicked from the team, etc. They are missing the very basic patter of enterprise level programming. The MVC. They deal with things on the View level, instead of Model. Model has multiple views, but the model is single. Multiple ways to enter the map are view entrypoints. The abuser enters new view, and that forces new model. Instead, the abuser would enter new view, which uses the older model, with a flag 'dirty' set.

I would fire everyone of my Dev who doesn't get those principles. I wouldn't actually even hire them, as all my guys get all the enterprise and architectural patterns of software developlment. And all of them understand the importance of unit, component, api etc levels of testing. All of them know what is collective code ownership, and other key values and principles. Those at BP are not developers. They are coders with no degree.

    Devs should know.... hmmmm

Are you talking about same devs that make CV sistem that have no value on critical hit and gives great value on critical dmg????????

Actually, the problem with CV is even worse. They keep wasting time on mathematically impossible task. If I'm not mistaken, either Mary or Tom Poppendieck in either interview or book Lean Software Development said 'there is nothing worse than trying to improve something that shouldnt have been done in the first place.'

In the USA what gets you to a job won't keep you there. Maybe it is not so in Germany for the developers.
There are plenty of examples, though, of projects that have been abandoned because key personnel were gone or no longer interested. For example, remember the Defender Set and the Defender Events? Another short lived chapter in DSO lore.

The Big Prize is a super challenge. Maybe DSO will nerf the hell out of it, according to a hidden plan. Or maybe no one was intended to win, but the hacker/cracker network is extremely resourceful and dedicated. There is game on so many levels. We will see how this plays out.

Garnered 200 of them, threw them out of my inv. Rewards not worth the andermants spent reviving myself and team members.
