2 hand weapon and shield for dks!!!

Do you think dks should be able to wiel a shield with a 2 handed weapon?

    Hey guys.

    As you all know dragon knights are screwed at the moment
    We are weak, where other classes can kill dragan on inf7 in 2 minutes we have super strong dks doing 40-50 minutes
    At first over the weekend I thought about giving dks the ability to craft 368 idoti on a 1 handed weapon
    I knew this would limit us but we would be able to survive a lot better
    but if you think about it comparatively, even if a dragon knight took 10 minutes at dragan it would still be 5 times longer than any other class
    But we dont, we take 20 to 30 times longer than other classes to kill dragan on infernal 7
    How does one fix this without breaking the fragile whining pvp community?
    You allow a dk to wield a shield in pve only iow making it a pve skill
    You wont need to nerf any of the classes
    you wont need to touch the base damage of dks
    you wont need to touch the bases of our skills

    Just pop a 2h in our main hand and a shield in our off hand and dks will be able to kill on infernal 7 and if even slower than other classes we will survive a lot better.

    maybe dwarf can do it, all others can't. and if u speak about top players in this case there are 2h warriors who killed i7 much faster.

    u miss that u are useing eq in pvp, are u playing it? i gues nope, but hey ppl play it? 2h+shield? gg

    u and some ppl forgot here that warrior is for TANK bosses, not to kill him fast ^;-
    there isn't any problem with dk on 2h = if he want to use 2h he should prepare to be killed or killing him slow
    problem is in the bosses = they should't be so easy to kill without a TANK

    u all forgot for what are warriors so go to some others game, where 2h warriors even don't exist than go back ;d

    I don't know about the other users but my warrior was born only to play 2H and disintegrate the enemies as much as possible, certainly the role of my character does not decide it the first wizard who arrives.
    I think the current situation can be solved only by introducing light armor for all classes and heavy armor only for war which guarantees 90% armor and block. The skills must be completely reworked and before bringing everything to the normal server the 4 characters must be tested against all the bosses inf 6 7 and fix the consumption of essences, dead and time in boss killing.

    You have my vote, but I hope they make a move to bring out the expansion!

    By now the 1h game of this class is dead!

    But maybe it's better this way!

    What is missing is a balance of the classes with the same times on the map is boss, similar damage and the same consumption of essences!

    What is done with 1h or 2h does not matter as long as an equal balance is respected!

    There was a time when only dk could wield a 2 handed weapon
    then all other classes could later
    its imho either letting a dk craft 368 idoti on a 1h + 1h base being boosted for dk only
    or a dk being able to wield a 2handed weapon as main hand <- dk only skill pve only skill

    As hiro73 pointed out Dks have same armor and resistance as other ranged classes.
    So with our lack of dps and the same defense in close combat with the boss it s very hard on us : that is an issue i think.
    Excuse my english and all my best hope for a Dk denerf soon

    And for the 2h + shield i would prefer to have a better 2h dmg instead ;)

    Unfortunately it is all BS.
    Who told you that? You need to switch to verified and established fable tellers like Aesop XD
    First there were DK and SW and both could use 2h and 1h weapons.
    Rangers never had 2h weapons until the unfortunate decision with Qaizah expansion.
    Midgets could use 2H weapons from the start ... but they were introduced in the game much later than SWs and DKs.
    So ... put them all on a same time line ... 3 classes except Rangers were meant to use 2h weapons.

    Maybe my wording was wrong there.
    And dks have more hp but this is to make up for the lack of range.
    Idk what to say regarding dks atm.
    However it is me and a few other dks leaning towards quitting for good.
    You cant buff dk base dmg or skill dmg because ranged players whine.
    You cant buff their hp anymore than it is because once again ranged players will whine.
    So, in short melee is dead in dso.
    What does that say about the game?

    So you basically ask for a 1H dk sustain with almost 2H dk dps
    That sounds almost like a new midget-classed bs right there
    The issue is that we have 0 variety both in ways to play(Builds, way of completing the events, dragan is a great example as some instantly started whining about grave bcs they cannot or do not want to do it, etc) and in the things we actually play

    E.g. take dk and the only viable Q7 build with little twinks here and there and thats why we´d need sets that are actually usable in different ways for diffferent classes however devs are too lazy to create smth like that(It´s always amplifier with no special effect e.g. spring set is just numbers w/o anything special + it has no unique values on it :D)

    If and boy its a great IF we got some variety in we got some variety in this game maybe will be playable again(As i mentioned before in the dk thread regarding the rings for dk, allowing rangers to use long bows and even short bows efficiently as well as all other classes making balance pathces instead of playing with events that worked well etc is all we miss and all we always will lack) but i doubt it as well as i doubt lvl 60 will be smth else than a reset of all our gear to keep us busy and throwing money into their pockets

    You are probably referring to lv 45 when the swords of the dk 1h and 2h were more or less balanced without a bunus set!

    Yes, I share warriors and wizards who could use 2h, the hunters did not have 2h but had the Predator as a weapon, the most powerful weapon of 1h!

    But this was not the problem, but the absence of the armor breaker, is now a continuous thing!

    At that time the dwarves practically did not exist and incidentally the game was more balanced, before the disasters of Qaizah!

    However, without going to disturb the only ones, to solve the problem, just change one or two skills of the tree of wisdom!

    Adamant wall and Inurement, if they work they solve the problems of weakness but not of damage!

    As things are, the only way to be stronger than q7 is to have the same type of cooldown from rage attack and then have an attack that has more damage than smash
    reason being you need cdr to get banner more often and you need a skill that can conquer smash
    dks just arent viable because everything any type of boost will destroy the fragile egos of ranged players
    And so with my suggestions I try to bring variety to the game but instead of being helped in nerfing my ideas they get utterly turned down and shunned by ranged players mostly, so what can I say?

    As a warrior that has accomplished almost everything there is in this game.... I must say, your idea is utter trash. Don't take it personal Phyrix i've liked some of your ideas but this one is just way too complicated, complete troll, it won't even be a real buff for warriors and it's really desperate and hopeless

    I have given up on trying to convince anyone to buff warriors since it is actually so simple and i could come up with 10+ ways to buff warriors without it having to affect pvp or even making pvp more enjoyable for the majority of players.

    The devs are so clueless, inspirationless and uncreative It really makes no sense for anyone wasting time on this forum or on their BS discord server trying to make changes in this game.

    It is all just a facade and a fraud.

    If they actually wanted to buff warriors, wich they dont because they are utterly clueless about what should actually be going on in this game then it would have happened a year ago.

    Very true, I do not forget a short while ago when ever anyone said anything about the mage buff they got quieted down
    If the devs listened to what dks had to say and we got buffed in the way mages did
    I wish...

    I don't think it's a very happy way to solve the situation ... if you consider that BP will do it its way: in the worst version, for example in the style of removing critical hits from 2H weapons, which contain some unique ones and replace 1.5K on blocks so this doesn't pull you out too much for hellish regimes. Rather, it wants to adjust the skill or wisdom in the book so that there is a synergy in strengthening ... for example, as a BERSERK buff, for example, in the manner of a Mortis set in milder versions. Also, to load a certain buff of destroyer for you at the expense of health. All you have to do is find some weight for it to be effective and functional. Unfortunately, a lot of skills are pointlessly designed and it's not just the DK class.

    Yet another crucial thing is the one that has not been taken into account much so far, that there are completely different needs in the group and for solo playing. If they were to stick to certain archetypes from each class, they could create certain settings for these two PVE game modes. This could also provide some compensation for this situation. So that the idea remains at the roots of DK priority in the group shield and user increased deff statistics ... shooters increased DMG and reduced deff statistics. In solo mode, strengthen the DMG so that it balances the deficit with the remaining classes.
    Perhaps the final expansion will bring a new expansion, which is in the promise of expectations.

    I just realized it can be a set bonus for lets say for example q4 that way it doesnt break the game being able to combine fe ghost shield and q7 but then you can use a shield when wielding q4 which will then make dks a lot more balanced

    I have all 4 classes, even my main one is DK.
    I have double items in my inventory, most of the time I use DPS set, but I have to keep the tank set too when I run higher level.
    The problem here is in the beginning DK was more tank toon.
    Then DSO "pushed" to have DK to use 2H... and now it's a mixed situation.
    According my point of view (playing with other similar games) the actual DK should be split in 2 classes, one tank (similar to paladin) and the other DPS (similar to barbarian).
    2 classes, 2 different skills and 2 different way to play.
    Having just one class, switching gears and keep all the gear full of gems and runes is "expensive" in terms of farming, crafting.

    PS, for all the people complaining about DK, I would just ask them to try to fight the boss just staying close to the boss, not just hit from distance

    Little reflection, if a war can equip 2H weapon and shield, the only change is that he can do better bosses inf 6 7 but the time of the kill should be the same. Am I wrong?

    well initially yes
    but then if one thinks about it you can use ghost shield and all ghost jewels
    meaning even with blue jewels now if you did that with q7 you would get 50% smash speed
    150% dmg
    and 135% dmg and crit and more hp and perfect cd
    so, that is a little too strong, they consider it game breaking
    So more recently as from last night I opted for a different alternative
    let me show you

    So basically it is a q4 weapon unique line
    You still tank
    you can still use ghost shield
    you still deal dmg
    you dont break the game
    you give dks a real alternative to q7
    and you survive much better with it.

    Dks are weak at pve and not so bad at pvp it will be hard balancing pve and not making him op in PvP at the same time . With this idea dks will destroying all the others in PvP

    I agree with the idea of buffing DK, and your idea would be giving a nice boost in PvE while not altering PvP.
    However, I think it brings two issues:
    1) It heavily relies on using gwenfara shield + jewels to get an effective dmg boost.
    => Too heavily event related (except if DtU can provide you the jewels)
    2) It's not an alternative, it's basically making wars to switch from Q7 to Q4 (would be better to buff q4)

    My idea would be to put a 300 talent points wisdom: "DK can wear an additional shield".
    It would not only give more stats and dps with gwen buffs + 2h weapon. It would also improve the way of tanking infernal 6-7 with double shield.

    I'm pretty sure it would need some adjustments in terms of stats gained with the shield (temporary/permanent/only giving part of the stats) but I feel it would be a good way to really enable dk in both dps and high inf tank.
