Very True.. but this is what these Companies do over there.. I'm in the US and most people here never even heard of DSO until it released on Steam.. but it was great while it lasted.. until this Company got there Greedy hands on it.. one of many reasons I stopped playing DSO.. It lost it's Originality..

This article will answer your question:

Youzu didn't buy Bigpoint just for the games—they bought it for global market infrastructure.
When Chinese corporations like Youzu Interactive expand globally, they use a highly specific financial strategy. The decision to buy Bigpoint, and why they doubled down on aggressive, "Chinese-style" monetization even when Western players hated it, stems from several distinct factors.
    Why Youzu Bought Bigpoint
Youzu did not acquire Bigpoint because they loved Drakensang Online or DarkOrbit. They bought the company for strategic, non-gameplay assets:
    • Instant Global Distribution: Building an international publishing network from scratch is incredibly difficult for Chinese companies due to cultural, legal, and language barriers. Bigpoint already had active servers, local payment gateways, marketing pipelines, and legal structures in over 200 countries. Youzu essentially bought a pre-built highway to pump their own Chinese games into Europe and the Americas.
    • A "Bargain" Valuation: As mentioned before, Bigpoint was once valued at $350 million. Youzu snapped up 100% of the company's global stock for just €80 million ($89.7 million). For a massive Chinese tech giant, this was a relatively cheap price to purchase an established Western brand, seven international offices, and millions of player emails.
Partly because of making money - business. At that time, BigPoint mismanaged their finance, despite that DSO was making profit but it was not enough to cover all their games' deficit. Simultaneously, the Chinese industry was growing rapidly due to the many factory productions, so they have spare cash to buy businesses. But the real motive is to expand their empire with a geopolitical CCP agenda. They try to copy what US and the Japanese had done - to sell their culture and influence globally - DSO, among other games provide easy and cheap highways for them to reach the world. Money only plays a small part in it. They only need enough to survive - what they really want are the gateways, marketing pipelines and legal structures which they cannot get from the CCP policy. It is hard for CCP to develop their infracstructures in democratic countries due to a clash in ideaologies. We can see this is happening in DSO with Chinese New Year, Chinese dragon mount and now all the copy and paste Japanese anime like (Asian) pets and bosses introduced - totally unfit for a European medieval game.

Statistics show that DSO is making way less than when it was German owned. German DSO about 57 million per year vs DSO Chinese owned now, 1 to 5 millions per year. That 1 million profit, excluding expenditures is more than what they need to keep them alive and preserve those infrastructures. They can make their real profits from elsewhere.

So, in seeing so many players left the game, perhaps 80%, it's only natural from their perspective and they don't care even if more are to leave. When they bought BP, this goes well with their original plan. All these smooth talks and survey and Bella's advice are just for entertainments and giving false hope to players. At the back, they are laughing at all those who gives genuine feedback. I was fooled by them too until I read these articles.

Yeah guides are not perfect, btw we have almost empty forum events Faqs ((yeah all them in launcher, but that is just weird).
Anyway , that effect must drop from the Worm boss chest, with the same drop chances no matter difficulty. :)

    p.s. aka rare drop, i still don't have it...mighty Dso's Rng

    This is what Google says:
This acquisition was a strategic corporate decision driven by several factors:
    • Market Shift: The online gaming industry was shifting rapidly from browser-based games to mobile and client-based platforms, threatening Bigpoint's core business model.
    • Resource Access: Youzu Interactive provided Bigpoint with the necessary financial resources and expertise to develop mobile games and expand internationally, particularly in Asia.
    • Operational Strategy: Following the acquisition, Bigpoint operated as an independent subsidiary. The company later underwent significant downsizing (reducing its workforce to ~222 employees by 2024) to focus on maintaining established titles like Drakensang Online and Seafight while exploring cross-platform updates.
In summary, the sale was a company-wide acquisition to ensure survival and growth in a changing market, not a divestment of a single title.

I did the event one day & said nah, not even going to waste my time on it. The progress rewards aren't worth anything and I'm not going to get the set, so no point wasting time on it.

That's only the surface of it. The underlying motive is geopolitical, that is, for the infrastructures for Chinese to reach into the Western market and make influences for CCP. What you googled are only some factors. If you searched further, the heart of it is a financial mismanagement issue. And surely, if German BP managed it well, they would have done the transition earlier and managed the money for it. Germans in general are good at making innovative games but they can go too far and mismanaged their finance. Ascaron Entertainment is another such example.

All these are in the past, for us, it's just another game option. The history of DSO has left a pool of whales and Youzu is exploiting them.

Well Bugpoint ruined another event. The Leaderboard use to be so much fun. Not a competition any more not even close. You need to change the name from PVE Leaderboard to who spends the most money for buffs Leaderboard.

Honestly the PvE event was just a way for a player to show off in the Leader Boards and BOAST that they got 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place.. But most players are OP now with every set being accessible through a credit card.. it was only a matter of time they turned the events into a P2P system.. it's all the EU and CHINA players that are WHALING with there credit cards I doubt there getting much from the US.. if they had not went to a Pay2Play system DSO would have died 6 years ago when this Company took over.. there are no true Veterans playing any longer only Pay2Play players.. and no one speaks ENGLISH anymore everyone is Spanish even on the US servers.. this is why I just gave up on DSO a few years ago nothing is going to change for the better it's only going to Monetized even more..

So you're releasing new stuff only for the first 3 places, okay, but can someone from your "brilliant" team explain how we can compete with the bots that spin 24/7 and make some points and have no end. Once again, you prove that you don't care about anything other than the cash shop. Well, I can say that the server I'm playing on is barely, I guess, with 30% player capacity, the rest are bots, brilliant of you......

Disinformation there are veterans on the other nations, but they are not talkactive and popularity like Spanish,Chinesse etc. Moving forward, the true back step is a random collecting rfs, which is hard day by day to keep up the movement of progression the game. { In other words, the game lack of ingriedients or should i say make a limits, which not allow the player to make a progress}.
If player has a ingriedients, then no matter, if he is in group or solo, he always gain a progress, which can catch up the rest. {Sorry to being of advocate of devil, but also a players are fault in some case too. So i will be speaking in two sides to explain better of situation}.
But since we have illegal selling accounts, so dev say, why should i care? And last but not at least LB, attire i assume that is a result of your buying on events, to make progress better and faster. You can't blame them they give you a offer, you are accept their offers, and be resposible for your credit card what you spend for.
Instead making less progress or increase droprate of the progress by each modes.
But i know as veteran they not gonna do that, why? Because it is not worth it for them. They gain profits and keep going with that, but low levels will be suffer, because no one help them and the game just pushing into team gameplay instead solo, not a mention it a MS which might be even stability but cut the screen no matter how you make it. But this is another tactic, to step on another level of P2W, Don't believe me? Then tell me how many game it has years, of their servers where was reconstructed? A YES we got also new sets, like for example the one from defeat of undefeatables.[ I specially avoid of the events, which i don't like it but you guys even if this event is bad, you will finish it, and they know that, don't be fooled next time.
This is a result of grinding of your events guys be welcome finally have what to do. You accept of their offers and they give you what you want to see another thing is a survey, didn't told you how you want to see the game? You will see it in the future, futhermore it will be much worse then is now. But we see,we see who was there right.

And finally for the end, the sentence of the word ''Who is Client'' because most people forget what's is their right or wrong.

Today, a customer is an individual, company, or government entity that purchases tangible goods or services for consumption or further distribution. Customers may purchase a product for themselves, their families, or for resale to other customers. They are the primary focus of companies, as marketing and sales strategies are developed with customer needs in mind.

    Have a good day!

Disinformation you say.. well I played on Tegan server for over 15 years and there are maybe 3-5 Veteran players that still play that's not much compared to the 50-75 just 6 years ago.. I don't play on the other servers never have so having Veterans on the other servers or as you say "NATIONS" means absolutely nothing to me.. I'm referring to Tegan only.. Tegan server no longer serves as the best ENGLISH speaking server anymore Tegan used to be the go to server for English speaking players now like I said before it's turned into nothing but Spanish/Chinese players and Bots.. DSO has lost everything that made it a great ARPG/MMO and now is only a Chinese GOTCHA game nothing more..

This is your words, not a mine. I just strict the facts and cut the chase of disinformation. You didn't also mention it on your own server.
Sad to hear your Server is in bad conditions, but that's how it is when the game focus most of of the team gameplay.
I know few also games who provide similar the way of strategy, and boost only main servers but that's not a point of discussion.

PVE leaderboards event is reallllly ruined with those potions you can buy with money. There's simply no way anyone can compete against someone whos willing to buy the daily potions available. Even if you play 24hrs straight without potions, you'll still lose from a spender who plays 9hrs with potions.

I think those potions should have been limited buy by event, not by day.

In the JCE event, the only problem is that 95% of the players use bots, and nothing is being done about it.
What happens when someone plays fairly against someone who cheats? In the end, the player who plays legally quits the game.
Those using bots are ruining it. BP should implement a ban wave to eliminate as many bots as possible from the game.
The Ban Waves should be done every month, to keep the game clean of cheaters who ruin it. And to detect bots, it's as simple as removing something from the character. If they continue playing without re-adding it, they're a bot. For example, remove the pet, and the bot will continue farming without it. This will detect all the bots that are ruining the game. I could even add a kind of CAPTCHA to verify that a human is playing. This CAPTCHA could activate when you're in town selling items or using the workbench. If it's to get rid of bots, I wouldn't mind having to implement that CAPTCHA.
