Not really. 2h DKs can still be bulky enough depending on your build. Hp won't lose to 1h DK. Only thing missing is block/block rate and some armor from the shield. However, DK base armor high enough already, extra shield give extra armor not THAT useful. This is because armor % is in a "curve", so you still have more armor than SWs and even rangers.

Block rate/amount can make all the difference between life and death when trying to deal with the highest P2W SW's in PvP, who've spent thousands of dollars on their builds. Block rate/amount affects ALL attacks, not just physical. Armor doesn't mean jack against fire, electricity, etc. The only thing that matters against elemental attacks is resistance (armor helps against magic missile, and maybe destruction ray(?), but those are not the primary ways to die from a SW in PvP). Against any Ranger, yeah, armor does help. Against a heavy P2W SW, you'd better have god-like resistance if you don't have a shield... or get really good at running zig-zag :D

Well, 1k+ resistance is good enough. SWs die faster than rangers. You have more armor to prevent yourself dying from rangers because you will need to hit them more. SWs on the other hand will easily die in 2 or 3 hits even with a ball to a good 2h DK. This is because 2h DKs do have a much higher dmg. The level 30 exp tree adds 40% more blocks or 40% more dmg. Dmg is not in a curve and since you are using a 2h weapon, you already have more dmg. The 40% dmg boost is much stronger than the 40% block. If you are playing a 2h DK, you will choose the fame tree talent that increases rage jump, ground breaker, and iron brow skill which will allow you to hit hard with skills that don't usually hurt as much for 1h DKs. You won't even need a smash to kill SWs. The real problem I find with 2h DKs is fighting a 1h DK that has debuff rather than dragon hide immunity. Because of the speed difference, the 1h DK can easily outplay the 2h DK.

Yes, SW's die in just a few hits, but the good ones are very good at avoiding those hits long enough to make you have a really bad day. A non-blocking DK can easily die from 3 or 4 fireball hits, plus the burn effect, from the heaviest P2W SW. Yes, there are ways to survive, we all know that. Deactivate the burn and you have a better chance of survival, etc.

Blocking reduces damage from every attack, elemental or physical. It is a fact that can be tested in-game. If you like fighting 2-handed, that's great. I think it's an option. You do more damage, but you will also take more damage. Those are my points. Everything else is just opinion.

p.s. Block rate/amount is not affected by an armor break or a singularity. Armor and resistance is reduced to almost nothing in a singularity. Another thing to consider in this debate.

Yes, indeed. Block rate/dmg is very strong in this game. I personally use a buckler for my ranger, a ball for my SW, and an absorber for my dwarf. However, I do like playing a 2h DK only because the DK has the skill tree of 40% dmg bonus of your total damage which is gigantic. It works well for PVE as you can save essence and survive easily. Nevertheless, I also play a DK as a 1 handed DK with a sword and shield as it gives me faster ability to execute my skills continuously which is quite important for DKs. I therefore believe both build works depending on the user. The thing is, 1h DKs have more stability than 2h DKs. You cannot beat someone much stronger than you in terms of equip and skill but you will not be overpowered by someone with much weaker equip and better skill. However, a 2h DK can beat someone much stronger with the correct moves at the right times. It can also lose to someone much weaker.

Very True... there is very little defense for a SW that has used up their stun breaks and then you land a headbutt/smash and crit them for 6k... Field Marshal or not!
I will debate the second part a little though. I've build my 2H in such a way that he is tanky enough to not lose to someone weaker (at least not yet). In fact, because I remember how much it sucks being a recruit or a legionnaire going against a Centurion, I occasionally will give them a single round so that they walk away with more honor points. There are some of those weaker players that I've had to take armor off for because it takes them 30+ seconds to kill me when I just let them hit me.

that must be much much weaker then. You are too strong for a centurion lol. You don't usually pvp XD Also, it is in comparison to 1 handed.

That is also true. I am very strong for PvE... the only thing that isn't in my advantage is the PvP level difference.

Good summary. Using a 2-H DK build effectively in PvP definitely takes skill. Knowing when your opponent is vulnerable and choosing that time to strike with your big moves is key. I know how much timing matters, since I used a 2-H build for about six months (or maybe as long as a year, I didn't keep track), back when the Herald Morning Star was the best 2-H weapon in the game (and Herald was the biggest boss in the game), and almost no one used 2-H DKs back then (legendary 2-H weapons were terrible back then). It took some learning to get the timing right, and some sapphires to make up for the super-slow-mo swing of that morning star, but it did some great damage (for the time). Now, that weapon would definitely be considered a weak 2-H weapon.

So some people think that 2H is useless in PvP. How about a couple of pictures that prove that wrong.
These two are some of my favorites from just today.
I think I upset a couple of Flag Bearers and a Marshal.

Funny. Thought someone like you Daywaker who played this long time etc, would know more about PvP, but well.. :)

Play with what you want and do well with it.
At some point you're right when you write that Daywaker, but is not a fact since not all mages play good.

    - Same with dragon knights
    - Same with rangers.

Is true that a 2H DK would get smashed withing seconds by a 1H DK who plays well, but if he plays bad. The guy with the 2H will smash him withing seconds.. Mages would aswell kill 2H DK's easy if they play good, but they will die as easy if they mess up. etcetc.. Do I really need to continue or is the point hard to understand here?

Play with what you want.. Thread with a lot of nonsense and that's even from the "older" players.. Lmao!
