whichever adds to your stats more, see what you need and get gears accordingly. the items are like this improved(green)>MAgic(blue)>Extraordinary(pink)>Legendary(orange) & uniques. best players have a mixture of unique and legends. uniques are the only items that have set bonuses, (Wear 3 pieces of the set and get 33% extra damage or block rate) so go through DSO wiki check out the uniques , join fb groups like DSO world or your local server groups and see what are good stats for specific levels and start getting gears accordingly. The colour i.e eo or legend is not important, but what are the stats there that add value to your build as a whole. generally we take damage and critical stats from left side items and armour and hp from right side items at the beginning, when you are more well versed you will find items on right side which give damage too. infact after 155 even normal items like eo/legend torsos will give damage and helmets will give crit rate. so farm a lot get items which you think will help you grow. and the useless items melt at the blacksmith to get glyphs of power to upgrade your gear. upgraded gear can sometimes be more effective thaan stats gear, ssuppose a white shield at lvl12 when upgraded to lvl30-40 with gop will help u a lot more than a legendary shield of lvl12 which you can barely get upto lvl18 with the same amount of gop. same for weapon, a simple blue weapon with a increased percentage damage and a damage stat levelled upto lvl40 can be much more effective than a lvl12 legend which you would find hard to upgrade.

Well read up a lot, go through the diff posts in forum and you will get to know more about the game.

Wow, such complexity in a browser game! :D

    THANX Shiladitya! ;)

Okay Shiladitya, that was very helpful but what about "resistances"?

    How important are they?

Would they more important in pvp than pve?

Hello @WhiteTiger_13 and welcome to the forums. :)

Glad to see you're settling into the community. Just a tip for the future: There's a small "Edit" button at the bottom of your posts. Please use that to avoid double-posting, as part of keeping the forums clean.

I'll let other members of the community take up answering your actual question, as that one is a matter of opinion. :)

Resistance values reduce the damage you receive from elemental attacks (fire, poison, ice (cold), lightning & andermagic), while your armor value does the job for physical damage. Resistances have their role in both PvE and PvP, since there are monsters as well as players that can also deal elemental, not just physical damage (in PvP, mages are the ones you need the resistance the most against, since their damage is almost exclusively elemental - bar the Magic Missile and the Destruction spells). At around lv45, about 1000 is a good amount to have.

Hello @WhiteTiger_13 My feedback about resistance is purely from teh standpoint of DK's as we are a melee class, the requirement maybe completely diff for your char which might be an SW. I have seen level 50 SW with 130 resistance kill balor solo, so their playstyle and build is compeltely diff.
Resistance is important against elemental damage, like fire, ice, poison, lightning etc. In low level maps i am not too sure but for endbosses like khalys and herald you would need resistance, a resistance of 200-300 if you are non payer and a resistance of 500-600 if you are a payer(or anderment/gem farmer) should be achievable for pve, for pvp it depends on your server and how active it is with low level pvp. in our server there were only a couple of mages with damage close to 1k or up at lvl30 so abt 600-800 resistance was enuf if you knew how to play(i wasnt a payer or a farmer at the time and died a lot). If the damage is close to 2k for a lvl30 player which is not impossible now you would need 1k up resist, if you wanna take some hits and survive.
Not only against SW but against all classes a certain percentage of their damage is elemental damage(which DSO doesnt advertise) like ranger has 25% fire damage on precision or their lvl45 skill and poison damage in some other attacks, DKs have fire damage on Drgaon fury, Steam mechs have fire damage, etc.

I used to be the kind of person who didn't switch my gems around, so I'd leave my res gems sitting in my gear, even though it's basically useless in PvE. Frankly if you just PvE, you don't need any. Just remember to run. XD Especially since you're a SW.

Oh, is that cuz we of the arcane arts tend to have the constitution of a week old kitten or Pee Wee Herman????????

@@ SWs are a damage dealing class. Your defense is typically lower than the other classes (although you could choose to build otherwise).

That's up to you, really. You can always try it and see how you like it. There is really no right or wrong answer for these kinds of things.

¬¬;; Since when did I solo Balor? Lol. I just get invited and go there with my 130 res setup.

I am surprised. I think soon Balor will get 1 shotted by one of your destruction beams one of these days.

@WhiteTiger_13 experiment and feel your build.
