    Hello!
I did start a game about couple of days ago, and was suprised how it was. A little bit cartoonish graphics wich is always good in a fantasy roleplaying games. Also everything is in a person reach to have either is it currencies in a game, items, titles so yeah but pretty ''free to play'' if have a time and willpower to keep focusing on. A Classes pretty interesting and would love to see more of option like Priest wich smites enemies and more option for modify a character look or have a hide option for a helm slot or so. Still most fun have been that i could play a game with my own motherlanguage wich is Finnish. Even there are small type errors here and there but it does give its own immersion for playing. I keep this short and say only more that... game works really fine, no crashes loading screens arent too long etc...
Then to my question will there gonna be a ''hardcore'' mode in this game like in a most aRPG games does offer ? I can be wrong and doesnt have yet end game experience in this game. Still feels more aRPG game then mmorpg wich i have used to play like EDIT....

Ps. looking forward with a game itself.

    Hi Diemore83,
Welcome to the game. I'll start off with letting you know that mentioning other games in the forum is not allowed. Glad to know that you're enjoying the game. :)
Yes, there are dungeons with 3 difficulty modes ( painful, excruciating and fatal) in the game known as "Parallel Worlds". The one you are playing now is normal mode. You will be able to access these dungeons once you're level 50 ( max level) if that is your first character. Once you can access parallel worlds with a level 50 character, other characters in your account as low as level 10 will be granted access to those dungeons (only painful mode though). The mobs at these dungeons will have higher HP and bosses will have more types of attacks depending on the difficulty. You will also receive "better" items/drops with the increased difficulty.

Oh darn, i start it already with a wrong footsteps..heh. Thanks for correcting me.
Yes its funny that i did not really encounter game itself earlier already, but i believe i did not describe ? A more carefully with my mean of ''hardcore mode'' i mean 1 life per character as some aRPG style games offer. Also good to know that there are three differend difficulties and a bosses does gain more abiltities and resistances ? I already know that Bosses like King Herendur and bearman(name forgotten already) they cannot be stunned or so.

Well i have start it few low levels to see a servers and a classes themselves, and now i am focusing in a quests as a storylines. Cool onces and much better then some other games does offer.

No, DSO doesn't have this mode.

Yep, no hardcore mode... It isn't good for business when everything that you buy in this game is so expensive. That being said, I'd be happy if they made "hardcore" maps where you only have one life and no revives where the loot gets better and better as you progress until an extremely difficult boss at the end. Further, it would be nice if it was designed such that a team would be the only viable way to play to encourage the powerful players to actually team up instead of just going for solo. I'd also enjoy an "endless" mode where the mobs come in waves in an arena type map and get tougher and tougher with correspondingly quality drops until it gets so tough that you just can't survive anymore.

    Okay thanks for awnsering.

    -- MERGED --

Can you say excamples wich are ''expensive'' as you say? Dont mention a PVP aspect because usually those areas are covered in a games where is a hardcore aspect usually. Except a older aRPG games where was open battles only and as called ''PK´s '' but everyone was killed actually in a PVE enviroments. Dont mean to be rude or anything, but i may not see or understand it because i personally loved ''hc'' aspect in a other games wich i used to past and i was also aware that i could lose everything and for a player has work for a week, month-s you name it, just in a seconds either is it was disconnections(server), unfair one shot mechanisms, or even your mentioned way that monsters just scale ''ridicilous'' tough in a higher maps, rifts or wich enviroment they are intented.

This must have been mentioned but in DSO you can farm endless way a game currenries even without using one dollar/euro in a game itself. Well i have not seen yet a currencies wich are avaitable only for bough a real money wich i start count expensive in a HC enviroment and it would be ''bad for a health'' of itself.
    Thanks for a reply btw.

You started playing couple of days ago ... for you pretty much everything is in hardcore mode now. :D
You are still in the starting maps ... later on even the normal maps are challenging if you don't have decent character. And after half a year or more ... when you develop at least mediocre character you may play the PWs ... if you want a challenge you can play them in fatal mode. You can make the Fatal Mode even more challenging ... just invite 4 more players in your group and all they need to do is just standing in the starting point of the map. Remove your gear and fight your way to the next map in fatal mode ... try this it is very challenging and "hard core".
What dollar/euro? You are free to choose your way of playing ... you can spend real money or you can farm more and be F2P.
I personally never spent real money in the game.

..as i was expecting like playing on DSO determites what others have play it or prefer to play ? I could ask from you also have ever play a game where is a hardcore mode and used it only as playing aspect ? I mean longer a week or after a first death.
Also again why i mentioned a real world currency was because a Baragain_ mentioning that it would expensive to lose if there would be such a thing. So stop twisting my words already i know you came ''do your stuff''. (ps. we have a differend fishes in a lake wich is not ''ours''.. ).
Yeah like iron challenge in other game or something similar, but that is not what i was asking from a DSO itself. I cannot mention game names in here but pretty well known games has that separate aspect wich has ''zero'' impact in a way most people try to defend a normal mode only being excisting.
(Did edit some words wich was written wrongly).

Tetris isn't a game, it is a legend. Now, if I tried to talk about EDIT, of which this game is a blatant and poorly made clone of (which also happens to have a hardcore mode), then the mods would be swift with their mighty editing powers.

The in game currency, andermant, is farmed, but can also be bought. Unless a hardcore mode was made that also disabled andermant purchase, a P2P player could easily lose hundreds of dollars of bought stuff in a matter of, as you put it, a single unfair one shot mechanic.

Most games that I've seen with hardcore modes have a subscription style business model with the occasional cosmetic upgrade for an additional price. That way, if you die, you've only wasted your time, not your money (since the subscription is already bought and paid for). On the other hand this game revolves around a Free to Play model supported my micro transactions (some of which are not that micro). Once you reach endgame level and discover that your toon is still really weak despite finishing all the normal content, I think it will make more sense. I've been playing for nearly 4 years, and even once I reach endgame, I will still die from time to time unless I go to my uber tank build that will never die, but has a hard time killing anything. I just don't see any pleasure in a classic hardcore mode in a game such as this.

I dont understand why is it separated from others as even if you just google it, it does category to a computer games as any else. A game was made by Aleksei Pažitnov or something. I maybe wrong on original maker so correct me or if mention a name is not allowed.
(i know very well known game in a past and i have play it myself also back then).

Yes you can bough game currency andermant(-s) wich is option not a must, so what comes to a P2P players who prefer to buy they advantages and choose from hardcore mode from a two differend aspects wich usually are Normal and hardcore and agree with a rules of a aspects and other stuff where a company it is not responsibility to ''refund'' or anything else. So its a personal choice and only who would blame is itself by choosing and dying as knowing a consequence what may happen, and i am also familiar about a pure cosmetic items in a games from a shops, and usually Subscription is totally differend thing wich is bound a whole account like games offer when you bough also some cosmetic stuff wich are ...how i say it in a right way... bound to account and are send it after you have create a character. Also i understand(i have play it them and usually in aRPG style specially i always HC mode) some games where is possible to lose a real money if used as consequence of playing a hardcore, but usually a people are aware of a risks by choosing a ''hardcore'' over a normal playing mode. Nobody forces a person to choose hardcore over a normal mode unless they specifically choose it themselves....right ?
Either i am not saying this game easy or anything .. no and seems you have familiar with a content of a game as i only have play a little while DSO wich is till new by content to me but in a business and other way.... no. I have seen in these years also many a differend things in other games or how you wanna call it.

..as you mention that you have ''seen'' i presume that you have play it harcore also knowing that a gamestyle is a differend then in a normal because your main target is ''stay alive'' and there are also few games wich offers ''one shot mechanism'' or monster scaling so tough that they probably kill just where a players stand from off-screen.

Thank you for a constructive respond.

Here is the other aspect you need to consider. Almost every decision the development team makes in this game is directly related to the bottom line. If the don't see it making them money (or worse, losing them potential profits), they probably won't do it. I see no way for them to monetize a classic hardcore mode, so that means that the odds of it ever happening is very low. That is why I made the recommendations above for a modified variant of the existing Parallel Worlds, or an endless "arena" type battle area. Those could actually encourage spending and wouldn't tick long term players off by "stealing" their money or farmed andermant.

Excatly i was only asking is there hardcore aspect in this game and i got anwser already from eedman86 wich kindly also guide me a little bit in a rules by not mentoning game names in here.
Then came you and this other one shared some nice opinions but also ... how i say it.. well personally poke in my eyes '' You started playing couple of days ago ... for you pretty much everything is in hardcore mode now.'' and counter defending why a hardcore aspect would be bad for a business.
Also i will say it again .. that those mentioned ironman challenges, running naked and trying to get trough. Yes there are games where people have ''added'' themselves for a personal challenge, but its not what i was asking or looking for.

Ps. its not still ''stealing'' anything from a players who agree to play ''hardcore'' as option aspect in agame by knowing a rules and consequence by losing. all of those what people have in many differend forums say stuff like that.. its just whine and a company have not steal one ''cent'' because they dont force you to buy anything or play specific aspect in a game wich is option next to a normal mode.

Diemore83 how many times you have died so far in your few days?
You are speaking of a hard core mode with permadeath right? Well many games that had that feature already are abandoning ... because it is stupid.
Most RPG games encourage players to invest heavily in their characters ... whether this investment comes in the form of time spent to level their characters and to create virtual wealth in the form of in-game items or currency or some other way. As we know games with such features are Pay to Play ... or like _Baragain_ said:
In other words they are using closed servers ... and you have to pay before you start to play ... and most of the players have god-like characters that are just flying in the maps and demolishing everything ... because they have spent thousands of dollars/euros. Now ... with permadeath feature you will loose your character and all items ... and this idea of losing a hundred hours of character progression and invested money due to a brief lag spike ... a power outage or a brief lapse of judgement is BS.
Screw that ... that is for brainless people.
Drakensang Online developers have chosen the right direction ... this is the present and future for all MMORPG games.
We are living in the time when even Microsoft went OPEN SOURCE ... if you are familiar with the newest Microsoft OS then you know it is like Free to Play game. The only fossil left out of the F2P model is Apple and their BS products.

Personal challenge? Achieve that without investing a single cent ... and I will accept it as challenge. Otherwise it is not.

Yes i am talking about ''permadeath'' aspect as its common specially in aRPG style games wich is option to play.
Also i havent see them to be ''pay to play'' or that a person cannot reach in a such a state that they ''cannon monsters in a maps'' as they usually die in a reflect damage mode wich is pretty common, corpse explosion (wich damage is scaled a monster life by percents) and so on.
This is excatly what i did mean in my previous messages. - Yes is it a personal challenge because its not invented to a game itself. All those ironman challenge excample in very well known mmorpg game wich name i wont mentioned are ''personally created'' so yes it is personal challenge and its differend and intented(designed) challenge aspects in a games by a game makers.

How many times i have died so far ? none but i am only lvel 29 and play when i can. (have start multiple characters to see a classes and test a of those three EU servers how is a community except herendur if wrote it right). A ''close calls'' a few because a bosses where new to me and i dont wanna watch a guide videos from internet as i want to see them myself before attempt to kill them.
A Hardcore is not stupid, but i understand its not suitable for everyone. Still it doesnt make any more stupid then playing it as a ''Normal'' mode. Saying it is stupid ..rather sounds more ''bitter'' opinion, and what comes to your point saying its for a ''brainless people'' and i have no idea where you get that ''all people buy they stuff to run end game contents'' type of a anwser or how people seems cannot be aware of those ''warning sign and included messages'' that says also about unexpected power outage(-s) or other similar stuff. I do also very well know about a ladder/season resets wich makes a characters and other items none worth to a new season/ladder. A same destiny even if you survive a whole time without dying in a ''permadeath'' hardcore mode then dying in there (or using thousands of dollars) in a games where is such season/ladder resets.

No i am not familiar with a newest Microsoft products because i am pretty happy by using Win7. It works really well for me and i dont need to do anything to my computer unless i do myself something by installing(testing) a differend programs and mess it up myself.

If you want a personal challenge then there is plenty of opportunities to do so.

    For example:

    1. Whenever you die, delete your character and start all over again. This is similar to permanent death feature that you are looking for.

    2. For added challenge, equip yourself only with white items and sell everything else you find (green, blue, pink, yellow) to the NPC vendor and level this way.

A while back DSO changed the regular maps and made them considerably easier. I guess this was done so newer players didn't get their feelings hurt.

You can level up so quickly in this game and for the most part get to lvl 46 without really having to consider gear or stats very much. It isn't very fun for someone seeking a challenge. I get that part.

The PW maps are where DSO has put in some effort, although they think just adding dmg and hp is what constitutes challenging. But new players need to hit lvl 50 before they can open those maps.

As mentioned in another thread, leveling up to 50 quickly makes you "fresh meat" and the idea of finally have a challenge becomes a nightmare because you cannot run these maps easily. This forces everyone back to the boring maps with no rewards and no challenge.

They could add some challenge to the regular maps but they won't. So if you personally want tougher maps, level up fast, it's really the only option.

Thank you for anwsering, and suggestion is pretty same then two previous except approach was more normal. One more time i am not looking a a personal challenge ''personal option'', i was curious and was asking in wich i got anwser already is there a ''hardcore'' mode in this game. Because a few reasons i personally like really a lot about hardcore aspects in a games more then normal onces if a game has its option to choose. I will do so. First reason perhaps would be a Base Rules are everyone a same so ''no'' tricky witch stuff or being bound on a certain ranged class mostly because they has advantage when it comes to a playing like mentioned ''personal challenge'' like with a white items because they are not really in a full contact with a mobs unlike a melee characters would be. Like in this game a certain areas (i like to do a quests/-lines) because would i dare to say have more ''completionist'' problems in these type of a games rather then wear down a excisting possibilities to challenge myself personally created ''event''. Anyhow my man target is as anyone else who is playing. Gearing up, seeing contents without ''locking it up behind a personal barriers'' and by a ''playerbase'' itself with a character i want to play, but my original question was only is there a hardcore mode in this game. In wich i got my anwser already.

Anyway thank you cdeepal at your suggestions. Already familiar with them but in a differend game enviroments.
