Alternatives to Keen's Set

Hi everybody,
last day i was daydreaming about the ultimate gear i would wear at cap level, and in every combination i could think about, keen's set always came out as a must.
But then i realized... what if you're not so lucky to drop it?
What's the best way to reach high hp and armor (like the one that any combination with Keen's set would give) but without damaging too much the offensive stats?
I tried some combination (mostly with full dark set), but couldn't go further 6.5k hp and 3k armor (using 20 flawless amethysts, which i don't think i will ever be able to get), and i consider it pretty low for a pvp-based dk who wants to be competitive.
Any unlucky guy out there has find a solution? Any tip is appreciated

PS: i might have made some mistakes since english is not my mother tongue, but i hope the meaning of my statements is still easy to understand.

 

I have Keen's belt and gloves. At lvl 40 and early 45 I alternated between Dark boots (speed for pvp) and Ammon's boots (hp, mostly for pve). Now I'm ok-ish with my current attack speed and using pvp travel speed talent for all arenas; and the boots I'm using are Red Essence ones which give +23 dmg (almost same as 3/3 keen) and good hp/armor. Would of course love to complete Keen set. The 10% crit and travel speed are just great.

But long story short: as far as right side items are concerned, try a combo of Dark set + Red Essence Armament (from Essence events).

P.S. Or Sargon + Dark gloves& boots? You'd get a lot more hp with Sargon for sure, depends how much crit (and maybe armor) you need.

 

Same here. I need Keens Steps and I use Red Essence Shoes with almost perfect stats.

Dark Set cause of the critical and armour.

 

I am in your situation , I used old level 40 Ammon proudon, glove and boot leveled to 45 with Dark armor and helm. I know its not the best set, but its all I can afford. It works fine for me so far. Only lose in pvp to really really heavy p2p. Maybe someday i'll get keens 0/3 at the moment. The sad part is I farm for it everyday and go with guildies to farm everywhere Hod,Khally Pw, Mortis and still no luck. while other members complete set and now just melting for GoP.

 

I know that feeling.. others are dropping uniques like pink items.. :/

 

If you are a patient hard working person, you can make things that are better than Keen's items. You farm in normal Grim, Craft, and then Upgrade. It is time consuming, but worth it. These are the shoulders I use. They only have two slots (Farming ander to fix that) and cost me 2.1M Glyphs, but they are hard to beat. Also, because you get all of your glyphs back if you met the item, if I find a better set down the road, I can just melt these and immediately raise the new ones to LVL 40. And you can do this with the rest of the armor. The only down sides is that you don't get nice stats on right side items like attack speed, critical, or damage and there are no set bonuses giving X% of this and X% of that.

EDIT: I finally traded these out for the Powerful Sargon Set. I lost a bit of armor, but I couldn't turn down an extra 800 HP, 5% attack speed, almost 100 damage, and 29 HP regen/sec.

I actually traded out my shoulders and a similar head piece for Sargon's Powerful items. I lost a little armor, but I gained 800 HP and a bunch of slots and the offensive bonuses... It was one of the few sets that could beat my low level legendaries.

 

Here's my solution for the problem of not getting the keens gloves.
My answer is low level gloves.
The one i use have round about 200 armor and 600 hp.
To solve the missing crit i put also a low level weapon adornment with 605 critical hit value and 20 dmg on my gear.

So it comes out like that:



The picture is a little bit old, the dmg is now higher than 1k, with a better hat and a better shoulder from the same set and some +dmg by some glyphs.

 

you need the keen set. you have no choise if you want get much life+armor+critical.
