Which is better for SW book or ball.

And show your items what you use.

Ah, another which is better thread  This depends a lot on your personal playing preferences.

I'm a ball guy myself (somehow that does not sound quite right, lol.) This is because I have pretty slow reflexes and have to rely on defense more. I have plenty of crit from my upgraded LH items.

Sorry but I have nothing to show you of worth. Since the level cap was raised and offhand items are so costly too upgrade (I also have Grimmag's Robes and my LH items which take priority for my GoP) I am currently in between balls (again with the not sounding right :p.)

I am using a purple mostly junk one that I found but still has a couple of half way decent block enchants. All craft attempts for a new endgame legend have been epic fails so far.

Keep in mind all of your gear works in harmony, like an orchestra of destruction, along with your playing style. So when you are asking about a single item there are a lot of other factors to consider. And one lucky drop, like Gorga's book, can change everything.

So you can poll forever and each player will have their own preference. In a perfect world I would have one awesome item of each since things like group makeup and playing situation (i.e. PvE, PvP, PW, Events) could change which you would want to use.

Anyway, that is my ambiguous answer to your simple question

    Luck be with ye,
    Mikey,

Both! I use a orb most of the time, but when it comes for boss farm or something like that, where you have a wall meat with 10k hp , in front, defending you, then book is a pretty usefull thing. SW is a massive magic dealer so book is a way to go in groups with nice tank, but if situation requires, q3 of pw for example, i have inhabit to jump with tank on nefertari in a middle of mobs to help him for faster kill, then a orb is a great thing to survive something like that. I suggest farming gorga for her unique, and some legendary orb with nice block rate stats. I probably told you something that you already know, and if that is truth then this is another wasted thread.:p

    Edit: Mikey, LOL. :D

As zokin said both, and besides it also depends from your stats :p

I am a die-hard book user, especially in PvE and bosses. When going PvP, most of my matches are against the top players in Tegan that can 1-2 hit me in a blink of an eye (even with Cyanite shield) so that's about the only time I use my orb. Still working on increasing my left side items for critical rate and damage .

Nice stats sper009 both with sphere and book.I would personally use ball but i would laos have a book to my inventory just in case that the team or I,need some damage. But it is your choice. If you wear a ball u have more blocks and therefore more armor but less crit.If you were a book your crits will get even higher but you loose your blocks and some armor. It is your choice

I am always using a book, I carry a ball with me(lol...), but I never really use mainly because of my critical hit rate.

Personally, I have been using the ball more than the book . But before I used to interchange, preferring ball when I am soloing and books for group and the rare occasion I do pvp. But as said before a lot depends on your stats and your gear.

Mostly I'm using book, have nice book which gives me 3,4 k critical hit with other gear. In PVP im using ball, have nice reduction dmg, but unlucky without any % block rate.

I like changing my ball / book halfway through battles. At the start normally, I go with book and if situation turned dired, i quickly run to a safe spot to "I" and change ball :)

It's best to have one of each; a ball is invaluable when running through parallels (like going to m2 or getting to Khalys hard) as well as chaotic PvP (3v3 or more). Book is great when you have a good tank or are dealing with none or low incoming damage. Different situations require different setups, and it all depends on your playstyle as well.

I found this belt today which should go well with my full Dark gear.

And this book I found off of Mortis :). Both of these IDs were just for giggles, seems I get the best enchantments when I do that.

I am a level 43 SW and thought had Plenty of Protection ( Base Damage is only 306 !!! and Attack Speed is 1.55 p/s ) ... I use ALL Sapphire on my Weapon and Diamonds on the rest; I used a Magic Myrdosch Magus Skull and I have all Functions at least at lvl 48 ...

Why can't I get more Power from my Myrdosch Magus Rod ???

I have spent a lot of Money on My Uniforms, Weapons, etc ...

    Thank You, Friend !!! ...

As someone who's always favored a ball shield over a book, I'm curious as to roughly how much more crit chance the average book offers compared to someone relying solely on whatever they have from left hand gear.

Vague question, asking for a vague-ish answer. Ah well.

As you said, it is rather a vague question so I must answer vaguely :D . The answer depends on many variables. For example, the crit chance (%) increase is entirely dependent on the "diminishing returns" nature of the crit chance curve. What I mean by that is if you have a book that provides 600 crit chance, it will increase the % chance a lot more for someone who starts with 1000 crit chance than it would for someone who starts with 2000 crit chance. Also, items like the Dark Helmet (+35% of total crit number added to crit chance number) will make that 600 crit chance number mean a lot more than it would without the helmet. Sorry I can't be more specific, but the variables are many.

A lot of SW/RG/SM have both a defensive off-hand item and an offensive (crit) one. This way, they can switch them when the situation calls for one or the other. HTH.
