And then there are those of us that were "that" close to finishing the old one (I had all but 3 deadly shards), and get to start all over. If it was as long a grind as before, there would be a lot more rants. ;)

It's just adorable to see these new "how hard it is" complaints considering what it used to be like. Can you imagine if they still had to run HOD for the beetles......

I just went back and looked at my old thread for when I did the quest. It took me 165 full runs through HOD just for that part of the power cloak quest. Ocean was quicker but not by much.

Wait, why did you have to start over? I needed 8 deadly shards at the time of the switchover, and that was switched to 8 stones of revival.

All of my quest items were gone. Not replaced with anything else. At least this time it is easier to do.

Wow, that was bad. Not what happened to me.

if this is not a bug and they made the drop rate of the invisible cloths as bad as i saw with my very own eyes then its really sad. when the easier mode of the quest came, i went with my sm and collected the invisible cloths in one day full time play. but now in r159 that i went with my sw, the drop rate is ridiculus. over 30 runs 3 cloths. i dont want to seem crying cause i know the meaning of how hard it was to get the cloak since i am old player and did the quest 2 times on 2 of my chars and i know its hard, but the drop rate on the cloths right now is ridiculus low, for a level 40 map, even worse than the mortis priests had.

My level 47 toon can't use that map for the daily bonus but it is a nice break to just mindlessly kill things. It may take me a while to get the cloak this way but, really, it took a long time before too (just almost had it!).

As for the drops, one of my toons gets almost nothing. The other gets 3-6 cloths/run. It is that Random Number Generator thing at work...

That's why this cloak of power quest is BS, I'd rather have worked inside HoD and be getting nice things along the way than grinding endlessly inside this unrewarding map, I think my other toons will have to settle with the 4th cloak and that's it.

It's not that bad. I hit the map once or twice a day and I'm half way there.

Why all noobs think the quest CoP 5/5 is gliched or somthing, just coz it have low drop rate.
Wew guess what, the quest isn't gliched or anything it is meant to be that way...
Btw before the rework of the quest CoP 5/5 wasn't only the low drop rate the problem, also the map was hard, now atlest you can run the map for 2-3mins or evan less
So stop complaining for nothing !!!

It is a joke compared to what it used to be.

Under the "new" system it took me 8 days of casual farming to get all the parts for my DK, not that I'll ever use the cloak, but still.

And in just 2 days of heavy farming for my SM, I'm already more than half way. I'll finish getting the parts long before I have the 1000 gold.

    Edit to add:

After 2 more days of casual farming (4 days total), this quest is now over. Way too easy compared to what it used to be.

I have been trying to get the Cloak of Power but seem to be stuck on getting 30 invisible cloths. I might get one every fifth time i go thru Atlantis Above Water. If I'm lucky that is. is anyone else having this issue? I started this quest at level 40 now im at 43 and only have 11 of the items found. think this drop rate is a bit off. I have actually fallen behind with my friends since i am stuck having to continualy go to a level I am not gettign alot of experience on searching for these items. really getting boring with this deal.

I wasnt complaining really just seemed strange that I got the rest of the items in a weeks time but now after playing for a month I am still only at 11 of the invisible cloths. was more curios if others have had the same thing going on. there are times when there is a glitch and if people dont ask what others have had for experiences with a quest you wont know. as for length of time playing a game I am lucky if i get a couple hours a night to play. I work over 12 hours a day. seems too many people take the game way to serious. it is after all a game not life. I play the game to escape reality for a while certainly dont need peoples attitude for simply asking a question.

As you can see by my previous post I've done this new version of the quest twice now, and it takes about 18 hours of playing time to complete it, depending on how fast you can run the map and the somewhat slow drop rate.

It is tedious, but it is so much easier and faster than it used to be when we had to run Ocean and HOD for months to do this quest.

Please don't take this as an attitude, but if this one quest is really frustrating, you are going to hate this game when there is nothing left but grind the same old maps. In the end you are only hoping for one decent piece of gear to drop or farming millions of gops to upgrade one piece, one level.

Started a new Ranger several weeks back; progressed through 1st four cloak quests before hitting Atlantis Above Water at about Level 38, maybe 39. Have completed all of the quests in AAW, started quests out of Andrakasch, leveled up to 41, and am hopping back for a few rounds of AAW every day or so in order to work on the first 2 items of Cloak of Power 5/5 (Invisible Cloths of Experience from the Jabbax Shaman (giant beetle), and Poisonous Strands of Manipulation from the Gorgon Intruders).

My problem: Although I've gathered 59 Poisonous Strands from the Gorgons, I've only found 2 Invisible Cloths from the beetles. Yes, the beetles have been more reluctant in the past to give up their goods, but this progress is hard to justify. I did the quest with my level 50 Ranger a couple months ago after starting progress on the original version of the quest that required Parallel World drops, and it was slow, but I averaged one Invisible Strand for every 3 complete circuits of AAW. I actually got the 2 that I have shortly after completing the AAW quest which required a different item from the beetles (a beetle shell, itself, I believe), and none since. I didn't take notes, but I'm estimating I've done 20 runs of AAW since those first 2 Invisible Cloths.

Is this yet another egregious example of the horrible fickleness of the Psuedo Random Number Generator, or has that part of the quest been bugged, or the drop-rate recently altered dramatically for the worse?

EDIT: Moderator, thanks for merging this; I did a poor job of searching for existing threads. I'm still concerned about the lack of drops, though, especially in comparison to when I ran it a couple months ago. Last three runs today: 0 cloths, 17 strands. I will update one more time after I complete the strands so can run the map exclusivley for the Shaman "beetles" and truly measure the drop-rate. I don't mind slow progress (well, I do mind, but can deal with it), but no progress is disconcerting.

EDIT2: Ok, 10 runs since I started tracking progress, finally got 1 cloth. So, the quest is not bugged, but it sure seems that the drop-rate was intentionally lowered in one of the recent updates. At this pace, I only have ~290 runs to go with 0 rewards to look forward to other than the eventual cloak.

I am getting 2 fragments out of 3 runs in average.
Tip: ask help from level 50 player ... that way you will speed up the process and probably get the better drop.

its already hard to collect 1000 gold why they makes it more harder for those(EDIT) frags?

    trakilaki Living Forum Legend

Of course it is hard to collect 1000 gold ... if you are playing in the arena all day long.
You can collect at least 100 gold per day with casual play ... that is 10 days farm.
