Leveling up an alt-toon Ranger, half-way through level 44, got the quest to kill Destructor.

I know that he got buffed during release 209. Pretty big buff, too, for a leveling toon. I used ~1,000 andermant in revivals while equipped with red essence before I finished him off.

In part, because my toon is just so-so, but in part because of Destructor's invisible attacks:

He has various moves, including launching a bomb when he's off-screen … that's ok, because the bomb is preceded by a yellow-orange target … unless it isn't.

At least 1/3 of my deaths were due to being hit by the bomb before the target was visible or the burning slag appeared.

I'd be running around, avoiding attacks from his towers when .. boom! I'm dead. Only then would the orange target appear, and after that the burning slag.

This didn't happen every time. Sometimes the orange target would appear before the bomb hit, and I'd be able to take evasive actions. But those times when there was no warning, and I was simply dead on the ground … not fun.

And, no, my latency isn't terrible (under 200). I have not experience rubber-banding or any similar indication of bad lag for a long time. This was just out of the blue instant death; several times in the same session.

I didn't make a video, don't know how, so this concern may go nowhere; has anyone else experienced this death-then-warning situation with Destructor since R209?

In the meantime, I'm screwed out of completing daily challenges most days until I can level up and take on Balor instead.

Had the same problem too, but I didn't think about it much, I just blamed it on high latency(200ms+).

It's likely latency. 200ms may not be horrible, but it is enough that you can blame a great many intermittent "things" on lag.
Or just spend 40 ander to get the next option. If the reward is good enough, 40 ander is a small price to pay to not have to spend on revives.

This invisible attack is not invisible at all.
I have been helping new 55s with some destructor pieces.
The red liquid that spurts from the towers is deadly, I have seen many people moan about this "invisible" death.
    Just avoid the red spray...

It happened to my low DK, but i think it's due to the drone bombs that vanish and hit your char even if it is far from them, or even hit after their debuff counter on characters reached 0.

Hmm. I saw no other signs of lag (no rubber-banding, no being kicked back to town, the drones only hit me when they reached me, etc.).

Appreciate the input; however, I have run several characters through Destructor in the past, am aware of that spray, was definitely not hit by it during these multiple instant deaths.

The drones >did< kill me once or twice when they all reached me at about the same time and I wasn't able to heal between hits. However, these "instant death" episodes were different; after / before / away from the drones (or the spray as Phyrix suggested) … I'm just running in open space, nothing near my toon, drop dead, then the orange target from the Destructor bomb is painted over my corpse, then the bomb explodes (Is this the "lag" that Baragain refers to? If so, then in other sequences shouldn't I have been hit by the drones before they neared me, died, then seen the drones arrive [which never occurred]?).

It is not a lag it is a bug.
I have reported this one long time ago ... they kind of fixed it later ... and it has probably returned back with the latest changes/releases.
