Personally, I find it essential to use the run speed talent.
It's important for keeping distance between you and DK's, is more valuable for 5v5 (if you have an opportunity to get the flag home),
and allows you to dodge and get into better positions faster for attacks/counterattacks, one of a rangers prime advantages.

Try to get items like the full witch chaser set and dark gloves, and ofc improve sapphires when you find them to naturally build your attack speed. Theres far more options to gain attack speed than run speed.
Also, if not using the dark boots already, look for pink or orange boots with 1 or 2 run speed stats.

Travel speed. Every DK takes travel speed, which means everybody has to take travel speed so that they can avoid a DK.

Unless you have a crazy ton of those speed gems from the Jesters or an uber pair of speed boots, you want the speed or you will never get away from the DKs running you down. I am a DK, and I have 10% from Keen's, 5% from my cloak, 5% from my amulet, and 20% from the fame tree. Not saying I'm fast, in fact, I'm about the norm for end game PvP, so you would need to out run about 30%-40% speed if you event wanted to have a chance to survive down the road.

Mark me down for another vote for travel speed. Movement speed is essential for survival in a lot of cases. As long as you can survive, you have a chance to fight back.

It's true that most of us DKs use the travel speed option since we need to close distance to do damage. Therefore, the travel speed option is needed to avoid us DKs. It's a vicious cycle ;)

I use attack speed but for different reasons. As per my name I want DKs next to me. I nuke where I am and I normally wear them down with nova strike and lighting strike. There are those who have fought me before and don't run after me. The ones that land the armor break on me get frozen first so I have to watch a team up.

    Not True.
Depends on what arena you are playing.
I am playing 6v6 ... and i don't need travel speed. I use damage and attack speed pvp bonus.
I am using dark boots ... if i am in the blue team I equip old EOT bow (with 10% travel speed) ... when I get to desired location i switch to long bow. If i am in the red team I don't need extra 10% travel speed.

I vote for travel speed option. Honestly, you need every single bit of faster mobility you can get.

As you increase your time in the game, most people choose to specialize in 5v5: travel speed and armor for running the flag, and attack speed and damage for personal defense, or supporting the flags. Some are good enough to play at both ends of the arena, and in the middle. Some are good at anything.

The other PvP choices need more blended skills, but still, it ends up as a personal choice, offense or defense. What works and feels best to you? What does it take to get the most points?
