    Hello.
Recently I bought my wife a new gaming PC and she wanted to play Draken. We´ve been playing it for a lot of years now. We installed Drakensang on her computer ( I have it installed for some time now ) We started playing and all of the sudden both our games crashed at the same exact moment. Then it kept repeating like that. But always randomly... In the city areas, in dungeons, event maps...
Error: Failed to download a critical file.

We already tried all the recommended options how to fix this issue. (deleting temp file so it would download again, reinstalling whole client with completely deleting all the game files, no internet connection issues.)
But the weird thing is... We played previously like that but she was playing on an old laptop, with no issues.
I´ll be glad for any help.
    Game version: (release261_160 64bit) 2026-08-13 10:34
    Fullscreen
And some in-game audio is missing (steps, some mount sounds, and certain enemies)

I think you'll have better luck asking on Discord since a lot of users don't use the forums anymore.

    I found this on Google:
    • DNS Configuration: DNS issues can cause connection failures. Switching to Google DNS (IPv4: 8.8.8.8 preferred, 8.8.4.4 alternate) or Cloudflare DNS (IPv4: 1.1.1.1) can resolve routing problems.
    • Connection Type: Wireless connections are prone to interference and packet loss. Using a wired Ethernet connection significantly reduces latency, jitter, and rubberbanding.
    • Local Interference: Firewalls, antivirus software, or malware can block game connections. Ensure Drakensang Online is excluded from antivirus/firewall rules and scan your system for malware.
    • ISP Routing: Your ISP may not be routing traffic optimally for gaming. Using a network optimization tool like wtfast can create a private, optimized route to the game servers, reducing hops and ping spikes.
I remember having to change the DNS awhile back to Google DNS for when they was having issues with their security certificate (I think) & never changed it back. I have lots of issues with lag, random crashes, game freezing up, etc. especially when big events are going on. I don't know if it's their servers or a routing issues happening in-between my PC & their servers. Like you, it's not my internet since it works fine otherwise.

I hope you can fix it. It's pretty cool that your wife enjoys gaming with you! Good luck!
