PROBLEM: It's no doubt frustrating when things are invisible in events or players in group or opposing PVP team members disappear from the screen. There are several intermittent bugs associated with graphical items in the game that cause player frustration as well as frustration for the programmers.

SOLUTION: Give the players a one line command on the chat function to reload graphics. Although I can't see the source code and/or identify the cause of each of these errors on the client side, they seem to be a lost call for information from the server. This is not unique to DSO and happens to some level in many other games. One solution in another game was to allow the user to type a command that reloads the GUI(Graphical User Interface) from the server. If there was a display error, you could type /GUI and it would call for a reload of the graphics that took no more time than a map change. Something similar that would reload the display graphics would be a workable solution to these intermittent and complicated bugs.

SUPPORT: This option would be similar to the solution the players have come up with which is to fake a DC by closing the client. When we log back in within the "Go Back to City" countdown timer it puts us back in the map where we "DC'd" and reloads the graphics which often fixes the display problem. This is how we work around the Laser bug in Dragan, reload missing party members, etc. It is time consuming to do so and a simple command would reduce frustration and time getting the game to function as intended.

Never seen a invisible laser bug in this even or the prvious and thats becouse I read the forums. Thus never actually tried any of the fixes. Anyways.

I dont think there is much of a difference if not none in relog-ing and quiting the game from the X, (wich I dont think it simulates DC) in terms of reloading graphics.
I didnt gave it much attention but, when you are in a dungeon and relog, are you back to the city or you are still in the dungeon?

    If still in dungeon:
    Does it fixes the lasers?

    If teleported to town:
Why not give a 20~ mins after log-out, then teleport to town, rather than giving us a command line.
This way I will relog and still be in the dungeon with reloaded graphics.
If relog doesnt help, I will exit the whole game and log-in again, in the dungeon.
Heck I can even restart my PC and come back in the same dungeon.

Lets be realistic, they wont give us a command-line, they barelly read the forums and the support here doesnt send all the ideas to them, for sure.

Since you are not experiencing the event laser bug, congratulations, this post does not effect you then. It effects mostly solo runs of Dragan and occasionally the main castle, but also the other graphical issues mentioned above. I'm getting it about 30% of the time in Dragan, and there is a raging thread on the topic replicating a similar thread from last event. So, it is obviously a problem, and since you read the forums you already knew that.
You imply that reading the forums keeps you from having the laser bug. Really? Again congratulation.
There is an enormous difference between the two, which is why it is being used to fix the bug.
In either case, logging out or DC, you have to log back in. If you DC and log back in within a time limit it takes you back to the dungeon. If you log out intentionally, it takes you back to the city. That is the difference to answer your last question, and yes it has to reload the graphics.
Frequently yes, but not every time and may take several attempts. It is the only solution however other than leaving map and losing your entry pearl, or fighting Dragan Hard without being able to see the lasers.
Any option that includes you loggin, quitting, powering down takes time and takes you out of the game all to accomplish a graphic reload. /GUI takes 3 seconds. The time element was stated in the OP.
Cynical but accurate in that not all ideas are sent to the dev's, only the good ones or ones with sufficient support. I won't Speak for Allogeneous, but I imagine a logic and benefit filter is applied on his part.

I'm frightened because I can't see what you linked, the filter at my work sight is blocking it saying "contains nude or pornographic content":D

  8. It's a really handy executive tool. The only real issue with my one is that the green button won't function.

@BigPapa I think it's an excellent suggestion. What about a little "Refresh" button instead of a "/refresh GUI"?

All good, i've been known to divert the train every once in a while in the forum and I'm always up for a smile. I did get the link to work at home and was disappointed:( it didn't contain the content my work computer told me it did:D I have something similar at work that involves darts and a chain so someone else can wear it as an oversized necklace during the selection process.

The refresh button would be an excellent option. You can sign me up as a volunteer if they want to do a limited test on it.

  10. Your work computer was likely blocking your external access based on previous links you had "accidentally" repeatedly followed. Hence the "porno/nudie" warning ;)

Hmm should I clear the cache, reinstall Java, and clear the DSOtempfile:mad:?

I've been running traces a bit on the invisible laser bug. I'm able to reproduce it reliably.

    My advice:
If you enter the arena area and find there is no boss monster in the middle, immediately head towards the portal door. From this relatively safe location, hit the browser refresh button (Chrome). Cross your fingers and toes as your browser screen goes black for a second or two. Within seconds, java will start to reload including the graphics. You'll need to rapidly reselect your Toon but when you are returned back into the game, the laser(s) WILL be visible. This is admittedly a sledge hammer approach but I have yet for it to fail.

A perfect example of how a "Refresh Graphics" option that doesn't require you to leave the game would be a great option. Thanks DK
