DSO is just following the same old tired logic in gaming...This is not a new problem...

Choose any of the multi player games similar to this one and look at their forum. It is an exact mirror image to this one, only the names change.

    Grinding, unbalanced, unfair, etc...

The advice on how to make it better is also the same, yet still goes unrealized...

There are so many new players coming into all these games daily in far larger numbers than those that leave, so from a business standpoint, it makes sense to focus all the energy on these new players who hope it won't be the same as the rest. New players will spend more money than old players just to catch up.

DSO is my 8th mmorpg game in the last 11 years of online play and while it is better than the previous ones overall, the core issues remain the same and I understood this going in.. I enjoyed playing the maps and leveling up (for the most part), and had my choice whether to pvp or not (some games don't give you that option).

Of course it could be better and be accomplished without the mind numbing grind, but that would take a gaming company that truly listens to the gaming community and so far that has not happened (to my knowledge)...

No one has come up with a better solution yet, and until one of the big game companies do it, we players will simply have to continue to go from game to game playing until we get bored, then rinse and repeat....

Spend your money while you are enjoying it, then move onto the next one...

Very well said RS. If you look at the recent history of the game the biggest developments are focused on entry level maps and tweaks to entice new players into a longer term "trial". If they can hook them for a few days the likelihood of long term toon development grows.

For the developed endgame players, the level 50 expansion will make all of us new players again; most of the gear in the game will become obsolete or marginal overnight and encourage us to spend on getting our toons back to the competitive respectable status we have become accustomed to. Farm new gear, complete new PW's, etc etc. Increasing the level cap is not to make the players happy, it is to set us back, knowing the hardcore folks can't stand the blow to the ego of being less than the best. So we will comply, and do so gleefully.

It does no good to constantly moan about the game in the forums. There is a big difference between making suggestions for improvement and pointless rambles about how much the game sux and how everything is unfair. But apparently people feel they will be accepted if they moan and commiserate without any actual productive elements to their statements.

  4. General rant-a-thons achieve nothing. Consider the following:

I'm bored!!! Yes? So what? Is it raining? Do you need a nap? Or is there some little spark missing from DSO which is needed to stimulate your excitement juices? If so, what, exactly, do you think is missing and how could it be incorporated into the game?

PvP is soooooo unfair!!! Because you lost? Or because the teams were truly unbalanced? Why were they unbalanced? Was the winning team pre-grouped? Is that an issue? Many players prefer to group with friends/guild-mates for PvP. What, in your opinion, needs to be done to make PvP more "fair"?

SW/DK/Ranger/SM is so weak vs the other characters!!! Have you played all classes? Have you really considered the strengths and weaknesses of each class in both PvP and PvE?

PW areas are such a grind! Yes. Yes, they are. They were the end-game area once. In a way, they still are, although Ammon's set is hardly worth pursuing. It was designed to keep players busy. Would you really prefer PW areas that could be completed easily in a days' play? Then what? Perhaps PW would seem less of a grind if the reward (i.e. Ammon's set) was worth attaining? Suggest it then. It's part of what the forum is for.

If you have got some constructive criticisms or, even better, some well thought-out ideas, we have got sections in the forum where you can communicate them and we have a large forum base of experienced players who will be keen to read them and express their own views. I am closing this thread not to stifle criticism, but to give you a chance to dazzle us with your creative ideas.... in the appropriate section(s).
