How do you get good weapons?

Specifically a pistol for Steam Mechanicus, is it all just random drop so it's extremely rare?

 

I have help countless people get weapons. Tell me what level you are and what level your trying to achieve. There are countless people that want to stay at level 30 or level 40 and then there are a ton that want 45. So I will advise based on what your looking for.

 

I'm currently at lvl 21. Since you can upgrade weapons why does it matter what lvl you want?

Btw, my current lvl 15 shotgun does 46 damage per second, but haven't found a single pistol or shotgun even approaching that.

 

I think Meganuker is asking you what level you want your character to stay at. There are a number of people who do low level pvp and would like to stay at a certain character level.

as for pistols doing less damage, pistols allow you to use shields, so your damage should be lower. At low levels, a glyphed up white shield can dramatically cutdown the damage you take from monsters and other players.

You can put glyphs into your shotgun until you find something better. The glyphs will boost your min and max damage, as well as any non percentage lines (Such as +damage or +critical hit rate).

 

Ok for a legendary weapon it is extremely expensive to upgrade and you are likely to find a better weapon later at a higher level and will cannibalize the weapon you get to upgrade. But... the process to gain a legendary weapon is not that easy so... that is why I asked the questions. For a level 21 you should shot for 100-200 dps 1 handed gun. Increased weapon damage and faster attacks are the two mods you want to see. To aquire a weapon for level 21 it would be farming of Wildherz Cave. Keep all guns green blue and purple. Combine to upgrade green to blue and blue to purple. put 4 purple gu s lvl 21 and combine then to achieve a legendary gun level 21. I have done the list countless times the results are scary to say the least. To fork over a chunk of gold to get a chappy gun could and will happen. If your going to keep getting exp and leveling up stick with a purple gun.

 

So, people who play PVP completely stop playing PvE so they don't level up?

 

Yes and no. Yes pvp players get exp from killing people in pvp no they do not get exp in pve.

 

You mean gems, not glyphs?

 

With you shotgun equiped click on the number and then click on the + to upgrade a few levels. This uses glyphs and that puts them into your shotgun.

 

Well, you would do both. Put glyphs into the shotgun to raise its level as described by MegaNuker and put gems into the socket.

Two different techniques that can be used for improving your weapon and both can be used at the same time.

When you get a better weapon move the gems over to the new weapon and melt the old weapon to free up the glyphs for reuse. Keep in mind that melting destroys the old weapon permanently.
