So as I said I am level 40 but my items are around level 33 every new item I find has worse stats, and instead of damage they give only health I don't know if the changed that but for example my hat and my pauldrons give damage. What should I do to get good items that fit my level? I am not talking about upgrading these items by melting others I am talking about getting other ones

I wouldn't stress too much importance at such an early level as you will go through hundreds of pieces of equipment. It's more than just gear that effects stats, as do gems (slots increase by equipment level), wisdom, pets, essences, consumables (Crafting), level, skills.

follow quest lines and level up. it is not uncommon to use a piece of equipment for 10-15 levels if its a good piece. since you rely on RNG you may go a few levels without seeing a better piece of equipment.

I can't stress this enough, focus more on equipment base %, and/or high base % enchantments. a level 35 blue item with damage (96%) will be far superior to a level 45 epic with damage (45%), unless its enchantments are better to offset base values. (enchantments are random % + random attribute it has).. you just cant rely on the premise that epic/legendary = better. sure it has 4 enchants but if they suck and base stats suck.. the item sucks lol. Until you can manipulate enchantments transfers via crafting achievements, this is where the real magic happens where you can triple its base stats.

certain equipment slots will always fall into damage, crit, attack speed, or alternatly HP, block, defense, resist. ideally, the latter is better, but every spot will have an item that is damage, attack speed or crit +/- another attribute. you can avoid the ones that only offer hp/block/def/resist... some items simply dont have damage/crit/attack speed..it would be nice if i could wear every piece of equipment like that, but it doesn't exist...you will mix and match til level cap.

try to run any maps if available on painful, not only can you get runes from champions (very low but they do drop) but for each difficulty level, chests and gear drops are base average level+5/difficulty level. this can be hard in the early levels, but its how higher level equipment drops... or get carried by a level 100 in a starter scalable zone.

Focus more on champion kills, champions drop rates are the % on map entrys. most of the drops in the game are from these guys, not so much as reg mobs... though pre desert your going to be slaughtering everything for the most part.

Dont care about items, first priority is lvl 100 then finish quests AND AT THE SAME TIME lvl wisdom.
