Crafting is like playing the slot machines. The house has the advantage and you are at their mercy.

But if you don't play, you can't win. Keep trying, and good luck :)

    as per Drakensang wiki

    TriviaEdit
    • Several quests require four quest items to be crafted into one new quest item.
    • Uniques cannot be crafted.
    • One of the daily quest requires the player to craft one or three items.
    • Combining 4 identified items will create an unidentified higher quality item.
    • Combining 3 identified and 1 unidentified item will result in an unidentified higher quality item.

i just dont understand what they mean higher quality item.

    4 green = 1 blue
    4 blue = 1 purple
    etc..

They believe that a purple is a better quality than a blue.

The stats and enchantments are completely random no matter what. If you combine 4 rings with dmg in each one doesn't mean that the one you get will contain dmg.

There is no magic pattern or technique although many claim to have techniques that help them get better stats that sometimes work occasionally. I personally hold a rubber chicken over my head with my left hand while asking the magic 8-ball when I should push the mouse button. Seems to work on occasion. This is also how I get drops from bosses, although it becomes a challenge to fight them with a chicken in my hand.

That's the problem, I've been swinging the chicken counter clockwise.. no wonder my luck hasn't been good. :p

Well the only real "strategy" I think to crafting is that you have atleast some minor ability to make an item of a particular kind(a ring, boot, weapon). Put 3 or 4 rings in for example and you'll probably get a ring....or you could also get a boot so yeah it's really not an exact science

the chances of getting items u put in slot 2 r higher than the rest , for example i put 3 green shoes (slot 1,3,4 ) and 1 green ring on slot 2 , the chances of getting a blue ring r higher than if i put them in another slot , ive tested it out a lot seems to work , but it only improves your chance doesnt confirm it :) about enchantments they r just random

Once upon a time, you could craft 4 items of the same type and level, and get one item of the same type at a higher level. If you mixed the types of items, you would get an item of any type. The Developers may have changed this programming, since the time when level 45 items came out.

Workbench position has little effect on dirty crafting (mixed items of same level). It may vary from player to player, or a sequence generator, or some random variable or a table, . . . , whatever.

Generally, the stats of the item crafted tend to be more disappointing over time. As a player improves the gear, the standard keeps rising, and the next item becomes more useless. A few players do craft that wonderful item with 4 perfect lines of "just what I want," but it gets more rare, as their gear gets better.

Most players move past workbenching, and upgrade their stats with uniques, event drops, Gnob trades, or glyphs of power.

The new COT and workbench pricing could signal a change in workbenching mechanics and probabilities, too. We will see.
