That means that this version of Java (8u11) is for Development purposes.

Version 7 Update 65 is the latest Java version you need.

The text on the top of the page is a little misleading because the page also contains links to the Standard Editions of Java, in additon to the Developmental Kit. But I should add that your best option will be to download Java SE Runtime Environment 7.60.

For a direct link to download Java 7.60 and more solutions to your Java issues, please review our latest Announcement.

    Hi @Biztart

Description is pretty correct because Java 8 and all of its versions are for developers not for regular users. (for now, until it is tested enough)

Java 8 is not available on Java.com

Why is Java 8 not available on java.com?
Java 8 is the latest release for Java that contains new features, enhancements and bug fixes to improve efficiency to develop and run Java programs.

The new release of Java is first made available to developers to ensure no major problems are found before we make it available on the java.com website for end users to download. If you are interested in trying Java 8 it can be downloaded from Oracle.com.

Check with the app provider before upgrading to Java 8
Some application providers might require that you use a particular Java release and have not certified their applications with Java 8. If you experience problems running an application with Java 8, check with your application provider and confirm that it is certified with this version.

To all users that are having difficulties with Java 8:
Conclusion: Don't download Java 8 if you are not a developer. :)

OK, I followed the steps, uninstalled, installed, rebooted and it finally works for me. Now I will just keep avoiding all those Java update reminders until the problem is resolved. Please notify us when this is the case.

    Thank you

The title is misleading as Biztart correctly told you my friend, because although the initial post talks about the experimental version 8 of Java, many people below it added they have problems too only by updating to the latest recommended version (which is 7.65). It just happened that the thread opened the moment a Java update was recommended too, not everybody (like me) check the actual number of the version.
