Legendary Journeyman Cap

This dropped, its requires lvl 27 and I'm 30. It takes 707 CoT's to ID. Is it worth it? Thanks.

 

That's not a unique item. No one is going to know what is on it. It will have random stats. You will have to decide for yourself if you want to open it or not. I would recommend not doing it. You should stick to blue (magic) and purple (extraordinary - this, especially if you have premium) armor pieces until you are at or near the level cap. CoTs wasted now could be CoTs you could use then.

 

I would say melt it or sell it and keep your CoT's for later....

 

There are a lot of things to consider. Here is how I would decide:

• How bad do I need it? If my old headgear has way outlived its usefulness then I would consider IDing. Also consider the slots. I only count on getting 2 slots when IDing legends because that is what happens most of the time. If my current headgear is still somewhat useful but has four slots I would hesitate to ID.
• The level difference - what is my toon doing in the game right now. If I am in a farming phase for a while and holding level then I would consider ID. If I am going to be in the mid-30s in a week or two then I would melt.
• How much CoT do i have? If IDing takes most of my CoT then no. When I face a questionable ID I look at like this. Do I have enough CoT to ID this and still have enough left over to ID they next drop or craft I get?

Thanks a bunch for all the replies. Right now I'm wearing the Golden Horn Cap w/ 3slots(201AV). I have enough CoT's but I'll be pissed off if it has crappy stats. Right now I'm not in desperate need so I'll melt.

Try to avoid identifying items which you plan to get through Ammon's quests or coming events. You can get decent items from the right side of inventory through Ammon (they come identified) which leaves more CoT for other stuff. Most event items also come identified. Another way to save CoT is to craft and ID low-level legendary items; identifying is much cheaper and the items can easily be better than endgame gear when upgraded to matching level. However, this costs a buttload of glyphs.

 

no. melt all legendarys at least until you are level 43. probably should wait until you are 45 for most pieces, 43 for shield and weapon (they glyph up their base stats better, not sure about the other pieces)

honestly, though, if you can get a good group, you can start going for some event uniques to get near legendary gear and save your cots for endgame.
